the book, especially the bond between Remy and Theresa Enjoyable

There's a and Max story is thoroughly enjoyable.
I loved reading this book and that there is more in this series is great, Low

It doesn't make sense logically, but somehow the story feels rushed, Perhaps because much of the relationship is off the page, And with the various POVs, th reader knows whodunnit and why, so it has no puzzle aspect, Finally, it ends on an unneeded hook, Excellent choice!

This was a well written story, After reading thebooks she wrote for Susan Stokers Kindle World, I really wanted more of not only her writing talent to enjoy, I wanted more of those New Orleans characters.
I was so happy to find a whole series of them starting with this excellent book! Highly recommend!,Stars. After reading quite a few of the books in this intriguing Series, I have finally read the first book.
I already knew Max and Theresa from the other books, but didnt know the details of their relationship, until now.

This romantic suspense dips into the paranormal, which isnt a topic I seek out in a book, Theresa has psychic abilities, but doesnt advertise her clairvoyance, In this story she used her power to help Max, a nonbeliever, solve a case of a missing teenager.
Max and Theresa have past history they must work through before they can resume their dating relationship,
With Theresas special gift, it was only fitting this tale took place in New Orleans, The sights, sounds, and food of the Big Easy always enhances a book, I did have issue with a couple inconsistencies in the story, which always drives me crazy, I loved sitelink been planning to read it since two monthly challenges ago, So glad I finally got to it!!

Just dark enough
Just sweet enough
Just enough suspense
Just enough drama

I did not expect to like it as much as I did.
I'm not a fan of psychics, So well written nicely paced and enough of the good stuff, A romantic suspense novel, Desperate Choices was a quick and entertaining read, As a fan of both the paranormal and mystery genres, the premise was appealing and the conclusion for me was satisfying.

Ivan has incorporated some original ideas into her story, particularly how Theresa developed her psychic ability, and her villians motivation is unusual.
These and other unexpected plot points maintained my interest throughout, I did feel the pace could have been a little tighter, even though the novel is quite short, the overall tension lagged in places where the romantic relationship between Theresa and Max came to the fore.

Theresa is likeable though not always consistent the striptease seemed particularly jarring given her history, Max is verging on the Alpha side of a hero but appealing enough, Their romantic relationship moves along naturally and the HEA is predictable, but satisfying,
I liked Remy, but as a secondary character but I didn't think we needed to hear how hot Theresa thought he was quite so often.
I read in an author interview that originally she had intended for Remy to be the protagonist rather than Max and I think some of the confusion remained, at times I wasn't sure if he was a rival or supporter of the relationship.

The villian of the piece is probably the most complex character, his reasons for his actions are original and Ivan charts his behaviour skillfully, though I think there was much more potential to develop his character.

I think there is a lot to recommend Desperate Choices as a debut novel by Kathy Ivan and I look forward to reading Remy's story.
Loved this so much. I like alittle Paranormal with my suspenseful reading and Desperate Choices delivers, Theresa and Max have a close history, but secrets broke them up, secrets that Theresa kept, Now later, Max comes walking back into her life, His godson is missing and he is asking for her help in locating him, Can they find his godson in time, can they rekindle a lost love and finally find happiness FREE on Amazon today!
Wow! So much mystery, friendship, loss and love all in one.
I loved that this case brought Theresa and Max together, Also that by working it on it brought them closer, Theresa and Max were definitely meant to be, So happy they got a second chance, Cant wait to read more on this series, Desperate Choices

Still breathless having loved and worried through the climax of a top of the line Kathy Ivan story.
So highly recommend this book Interesting

It kept me interested, entertained and on edge, I felt like I was right there in the scenes with the characters, I highly recommend this book!! Desperate Choices is the first book in Kathy Ivans New Orleans Connection series, In this book we meet Theresa Crawford and Max Lamoreaux, Theresa and Max are opposites, She is a psychic dealing with paranormal and he is a PI, who deals with logic and deduction, Both have secrets they keep hidden, The disappearance of Maxs godson, yearold Tommy Saunders, brings these two together as they work to solve this case.
This story is about their romantic journey, What will be the outcome Will their secrets be revealed Will they be able to work together to solve this case To discover the answers to these questions, you must read this book.

I did not realize, when I read this book, that it was Ms, Ivans debut novel. I discovered Ms. Ivan through her other series about the Texas Boudreaus, Like other first books, Ms, Ivan uses this one to introduce readers to other characters in this series, I enjoyed this characterdriven romantic suspense story, Ms. Ivan creates complex characters, both primary and secondary, I like that they are multilayered and that she captures their dreams, strengths, and vulnerabilities, We see this not only in her primary characters, Theresa and Max, but also in secondary characters like Remy Lamoreaux and the antagonists, Steven Black.
I thought she handled the topic of Theresas rape, when she was a teenager, respectfully and illustrated the collateral damage that can occur with future intimate relationships.
Remy was instrumental in helping Theresa cope after her horrendous trauma, I thought it was clever how she used Remy to help Theresa and Max navigate their romantic journey, His pivotal role was believable since due to his invested interest in both, I also appreciated Ms. Ivans use of literary devices such as point of view, dialog, and descriptive language, Through the dialog and the characters internal dialog, readers understand their personalities and backstories, Her use of descriptive language pulls readers into this story, The scenes pertaining to Theresas visions, Tommys captivity, and Steven Blacks motivations all rivet readers attention, Nice job, Ms. Ivan. I am definitely going to read other books in this series, Happy Reading!
This book has enjoyable characters and basically a good story, but it was way too slow moving for me.
Therefore, I gave itstars, What an amazing start to the series, Max and Theresa's story is unique, Not only is there the romance portion but the story also revolves around the mysterious disappearance of Max's godson.
He's gone missing and even though he's skeptical he approaches his brothers best friend Theresa for her psychic abilities.
Truths are confessed and not everything is as it may seem, The whole story is intriguing and getting snippits of points view from other characters is really unique and appreciated.
I really enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more in the series,
I received an ARC for my honest review, Being from New Orleans, I loved the mention of places I know, The story was a good one, . . missing teenager that a local P, I. but former policeman is asked to look into, The missing boy is his godson, During the investigation, we meet our hero's brother and a woman from his past, About about half of the book is delving into their story and the other half to

solving the case.
I found the story compelling, but not so much as others I've read, Desperate Choices BookNew Orleans Connection by Kathy Ivan,
My thoughts:
This story has crime, mystery, romance, suspense and paranormal activity, nice story telling and interesting characters so this should work.
However for me it fell short, not sure what it was that just did not work for me, Free on amazon. com kindle version as atApril, stars.
The author added a note that the book was previously published and it has been re edited and more content added.

Theresa Crawford and Max Lamoreaux have a past, A rocky past. So when Max shows up in her shop she immediately goes on alert, When she finds that he wants her psychic help with a case he is working on, she is skeptical, almost as skeptical as he is about her psychic ability in the first place.
The longer they work together, the less than can deny their feelings and the more Max comes to realize that there may be something to her abilities.
As they uncover secrets about their case, Theresa must allow herself to trust Max with the secrets of her past in order to work toward a future.

While the book and the storyline were both a little predictable, this was a very good quick read.
Recommended for those who would like a couple of hours of down time with a story that just makes you feel good when you read it.

When psychic Theresa Crawford's former beau walks into her New Orleans New Age shop, she senses trouble, Big trouble. Max Lamoreaux hasn't come to discuss their relationshipthe private investigator is on a case, and he needs Theresa's help.

Max's godson is missing, The police have declared Tommy a runaway, but Max's gut tells him otherwise, While he's highly skeptical of Theresa's abilities, her visions provide the only clue as to who's taken Tommy, The longer Max works with Theresa, the harder it is to resist his desire for the sexy woman,

As they inch closer to finding Tommy, Max and Theresa also discover that time hasn't diminished their powerful attraction.
But Theresa harbors her own dark secrets from her past, Secrets that broke them up beforeand could drive them apart again, unless Theresa can learn to trust Max with everything.
. . Wow

This was a wonderful story, it kept you on yours toes but then you feel for the families of the boys missing.
And it was great that Max amp Theresa finally got their relationship in a better place, Desperate Choices by Kathy Ivan, Wow, how I enjoyed this Book, Kathy had me on the edge of my seat, This book is filled with so much it is never boring there is suspense, physic powers, kidnapping, murder, friendship and love.
It will hit all your emotion buttons as you read, There is also second chance romance going on between Theresa and Max and these two are perfect together, If you want a great read, here it is, I received a complimentary book for an honest review, sitelinkDesperate Choices I wish there was an option for partial, I'll err on the generous side as there was more to like about this book than what bugged me.
Theresa Crawford hides many secrets, including the beginnings of her psychic abilities, Max Lamoreaux has a secret or two of his ownincluding the reason he left the Shreveport PD and returned to his hometown of New Orleans to become a private investigator.
Theresa and Remy Lamoreaux, Max's brother, have been best friends for years, which complicates Max's feelings for her, When his godson goes missing, skeptic Max finally confronts his feelings about Theresa and her abilities as he seeks her assistance in the case.

Ms. Ivan's voice is a good one for romantic suspense, though the emphasis is on the romance rather than the suspense.
This book reads a bit more like a procedural as the readers follow all the threads and points of view until the conclusion, which seemed a bit foregone by the time it was reached.
That's my only real complaint about the book, I would have preferred more tension and less knowledge of the perpetrator and the ending, but that's my personal preference.
All in all, this was an enjoyable read and one I can recommend, This book won the suspense novel category of the International Digital Awards, sponsored by OKRWA, and I can see why the readerjudges scored it high.
