Procure All Snug Executed By B.G. Thomas Displayed In Manuscript
and Shawn both want to buy the same bed, Both for their boyfriends. They cant decide who gets the bed, so Elliot suggests they have several contests and who wins them gets to buy the bed,
I liked these guys together, Elliot started out as a bit of a shallow person, but when he gets to know more about Shawn, he realizes whats really important in life.
I could have gone without the sex scene between Elliot and his boyfriend though it wasnt too detailed, but I didnt like it.
Still, it was enjoyable and it has a nice HEA,
I really liked this story about two guys who enter a "friendly" competition for an antique bed, Nothing turns out the way either of them think it will and it has a great HEA, Amazing that the story was so good in so few pages, Can't wait for the author's full length novel coming out later in the year, read Sure, the whole thing is predictable, But that doesnt matter even slightly, The buildup is cute and the characters both endearing, There are just two things that put me off slightly,
One the more important one is that they do not use a condom in their happy, happy sex scene, Thats not okay. Kind of ruined the ending for me, Such a small thing, yet so much impact,
The other issue and not much of one consists in the fact that this book is referencing another one by the author, one Ive read before.
It obviously takes places at the same time, in the background, And while that other story wasnt bad, it had a huge supernatural element which, by the way, is continued in yet another of these shorter books.
I guess I just dont like my regular contemporary stories and the supernatural ones to mix,
Either way, for the most part I enjoyed this story a great deal, Just condom. Please
I must have been caught up in the tasks, because I did NOT see the twist coming! I knew we were heading for an HEA, but really, my detective skills are really lacking.
Shawn is a great character, although he isand seems so much younger, It is told in first person of Elliot, who has a lot of money, and seems pretentious, but isn't, He was self deprecating through most of it, and his enchantment with Shawn was adorable, All Snug is a cute novella about two guys who start as "contenders" to buy a very old and expensive antique bed.
On one side, we have Elliot, who has the money in the world, who drinks twelvedollarsaglass Lagavulin, who prefers coffee from Peruvian, and who drives Lexus.
The other side, there's Shawn, who can barely cover rent, who can only afford can of coffee from Aldi's, and must work overtime to buy the bed.
But both men are determined to buy the bed to make their respective boyfriends happy, So in order to find the one who will end up with the bed, Elliot and Shawn hold contest: taking a cue from the Labors of Heracles.
The winner gets the bed,
This is the first story from B, G. Thomas that I have ever read and I am very entertained!! The idea of the contest have Elliot and Shawn with tasks from selling tickets for charity, cleaning horses' stables, ask a drag queen to give up her girdle, taking photographs of a lion, antelope, boar, birds, bull, horse, cow, apples, dog, and monster, as well as playing music/singing.
The challenges are SMART and I enjoy the adventure that the two men experience to win each challenge, Even so, it's not by all means nasty competitive, in fact, the challenges give a chance for Elliot and Shawn to connect and I find it sweet and tender.
This story is written from first person Elliot is the narrator BUT readers can still get a glimpse on how Shawn is.
He comes alive in Elliot's narration, I personally think Shawn is just so cute he has a Cookie Monster doll he still blushes and all around wellliked guy, ALTHOUGH, I find it a bit hard to imagine him beingyears old with that kind of description I keep imagining him more like in his early twenties, no more thanyears old he has this flair of innocence with him.
Elliot is more seasoned, having been out for twenty five years, Reading him falling in love is a delight,
Oh, there is no surprise on how this ends, You can actually see "the twist" from the beginning, BUT it doesn't diminish the joy reading how Elliot and Shawn come together, I can't help giggling in some parts, Definitely a charmer for Christmas!! I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and the two characters as they battle it out for the sake of ownership of an antique bed each believe their lover covets and will cherish.
It became quite clear for me early on that both were pining after the same man, so it came as no surprise when this was the outcome, but I did enjoy the way B.
G. weaved the tale of Shawn and Elliot and their slow slide from sparring partners to lovers in love, This is a very believable tale, made all the more so by the earnestness of Shawn and the genuine cynicism of Elliot, which build both characters up as people before the end of the first chapter.
The background information for each character was weaved into the story in such a way you almost didn't realise it was character building, and the emotions are kept true to form for each character throughout.
Nx A fun cute romantic read about two guys, Elliot and Shawn, who decide to compete against each other to see who will get an antique bed they both want for their lovers.
Elliot is well off whereas Shawn isn't, The rules of the competition is simple, a number of challenges will be made and the person with the most wins gets to rights to the bed.
I loved how BG turned a potentially harmful situation for Shawn into a Cinderfella story, Shawn was just so stupidly Naive he would clean out his life savings work overtime to buy his materialistic 'boyfriend' a bed he could not afford hoping the guy would actually ask him to move in.
It was obvious his boyfriend was not that into him and was just yanking his chain, The guy would not commit outright and kept asking for the bed he knew Shawn could not afford, We get Elliot's POV and how he has money to burn for a two month 'all sex' affair with a himbo named Steve,
I loved how Elliot and Shawn spend time together for a contest to win the bed for their significant other and realize they are very compatible.
The progress of their growing feelings for each other had me swooning all over the place
Well the twist in the end which could have actually been a traumatic situation actually becomes a solution to their problem.
They actually have timing and a total jerk to thank for their HEA!YAY BG Thomas!!! It all starts with a bed,
Elliot is a rich, jaded business looking to purchase an antique bed to impress a lover, Shawn is a naive, recently out man looking to purchase the same bed to entice his new boyfriend to spend more time with him in it.
The men decide to have a contest to see who will win the bed and as they complete the various tasks along the way they get to know each other as more than just competitors.
I really enjoyed this story, I liked seeing each man come to appreciate how the other saw the world how they were both willing to try new things and be open to adventure.
What I loved and was surprised to see is that Thomas has based a few of his short stories around "The Male Box" the bar in Kansas City where Tommy Smith one of the MC's of sitelinkAll Alone in a Sea of Romance works.
We get a brief cameo of Tommy as his drag queen persona Dixie Wrecked, So unexpected! Loved it! I'll be checking the other short stories to see if I recognize anyone else and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing expanded stories further down the road for some of these quirky characters.
The chemistry between Elliot and Shawn is really hot, Emotions between them develop very fast and they both recognize that but it feels natural and feels lasting, I really liked that. This is a cute read with a fun premise,
This title is part of the sitelinkAdvent Calendar: Naughty or Nice
Elliot and Shawn each want to buy the same oneofakind item for Christmasa very old and expensive antique bedas a gift for their lovers.
But when they both arrive at the store at the same moment, the proprietor tells them to figure out between themselves who gets the bed.
Elliot and Shawn decide to hold a contest: winner buys bed,
And so the competitions begin, from selling charity tickets to cleaning out stables, and interpersonal tension and burgeoning attraction mount as the days until Christmas pass.
But who deserves the gift more: Elliot, who can afford the expensive gift for his casual sex partner, or Shawn, who can barely cover rent, and the mysterious man hes headoverheels for It was better than I expected from reading all the reviews but there are some parts that slightly too sweet considering the MCs were in theirs and perhaps should be less naive.
For Shawn, who really should not be this, . . inexperienced and sheltered aty/o but he was quite believable to me based on his backgrounds, I am also glad to read that his ex was a nice woman,
Elliot was not as much of a shark as he like to think he was after all what kind of jaded man would fall for a guy after spendingdays together :P
It was fun, it was sweet, it was fast.
Shawn manages to have a more completed character despite not being the narrator, Elliot came off as somewhat shallow and jaded, I supposed that's the point of the story as the more he spend time with Shawn, the more life was breath back into him.
The revelation of Shawn's bf was a surprise to me, The ending was nice and it would be interesting to read more about these two,
Two men compete for an antique bed, recreating some of Hercules's challenges with a modern twist, and it was loads of fun! Shawn obviously has a generous heart.
He wants to give something he really can't afford to his boyfriend, he gives his time to charity, he's a great guy, Elliot is used to getting what he wants and he's got the funds to do just that, The challenges that they come up with are great and I loved the last one, I was hoping for a bit more when Elliot meets the 'boyfriend' but the ending is lovely, guys want to buy the same bed for their boyfriends Elliot and Shawn pay half each and then they make a bet like a contest with question task ETC,at the end the winner will win the bet take the bed.
We know where to is going although they in relationship they fall for each other in less than a week, yes it fast but of course they dont do anything about it due to that.
But you will see a twist coming and i saw it coming from a mile ago but also this was one fun adventure about a bed and spending time getting to know one another I absolutely loved this little romance.
There are a few books that I immediately click with, probably because I find some unique interests in this book that I share with the characters.
The plot is actually quite transparent, I'm not sure if the author intended this to be a big mystery, but somehow it's crystal clear right from the start what is going on.
Elliot is a rich real estate agent, His current lover, a kind of 'boyfriend' he appreciates for the hot and wild sex, sees a Victorian four poster bed in an antique store and asks for it as a Christmas present.
Elliot doesn't mind spending a ton of money on such a gift, already picturing the countless sex positions they can play through on the gigantic thing.
But when he goes to the store to purchase it, a young and rather poor looking fellow is there already and claims that he wants to bed too.
Same motive: His boyfriend, whom he loves very much, wants it,
I guess, it's apparent where this is going, right
So the two men are at an impasse, Both want the bed and are willing to pay the price, So they make a deal, They buy the bed together and start a competition, The winner will get the bed,
The competition is very cute and is inspired by thelabors of Heracles: Mucking out a horses' stable, capture a boar, a lion, apples, etc by taking photos of them all, stealing the Amazonian Queen's girdle which turns out to be a drag queen's girdle, but close enough, etc.
It's absolutely entertaining, And as you can imagine, both guys get to know each other really well, share their lives and histories and realize that they genuinely like each other.
But only one guy can get the bed for their lover,
But you can guess how this will lead to their happy ending after all,
It's actually a Christmas story, even though it doesn't have a strong Christmas vibe, But it's cute, sexy and very emotional, I totally loved this and consider it one of my favorite reads this year,
stars! This is the third story I've read by B, G. Thomas and so far I've enjoyed all of them, He writes romance with a little bit of humor to it, this story is no exception, The plot, two men competing about an antique bed a la Hercules style is in itself kind of fun, Even though you know where it will lead it is fun reading about it,
At one point early on in the story the thought that the men Elliot and Shawn are seeing might be the same appeared to me but when I reached the end of the story I had forgotten all about it.
Quick, cute and romantic in a way real life never is
and it left me feeling happy once I had finished it, I just wish B. G. Thomas would write more novel length stories so that it will take me a while to finish them, .
