Capture CBGB OMFUG: Thirty Years From The Home Of Underground Rock Compiled By Hilly Kristal Disseminated As Paper Copy
recorrido en fotos que va retratando año tras año la historia del lugar más emblemático del under.
Una joyita. Great shots, could use a few more stories, people of a certain age will get all warm amp fuzzy perusing this book, amp rightly so! wonderful, gritty photos of prelegendary musicians from an age long gone, a pure, visual joy for youngsters amp oldsters alike, Great pictoral essay of a lost era, Like watching a movie of the club that started, The ramones, the new york dolls, and many more bands, My favorite music in the world was born inside CBGBs, I hate that I never made my way there before it closed down, This book is a phenomenal time capsule of that historic venue and the culture it unleashed upon the world.
It's a great little nostalgia book, full of photos, and little stories of famous musicians and their first time at said venue, but that's about it.
Great as a catalog to remember the venue by,
I am interested in seeing the layout of the venue in it's prime, as everyone in the book points out to the 'great sound' it had.
I visited the former CBGB's recently where I bought this book, it is now a clothes shop, but they still kept some original CBGB's things.
I was confused whether the stage was actually on the side of the venue because to me, that would probably give a rather horrible, crappy sound especially if the sound is punk music and this clothing shop kept the stage or so I think
So, ideally, a proper book about CBGBs, it's layout, the sound, etc.
would've been more fascinating to me, it is now a shoe shop Hilly Kristal originally intended CBGB amp OMFUG to showcase the type of music his venue's notorious letters stand for Country, Bluegrass, Blues.
Little did he know when he opened his club under a flophouse on the Bowery that it would become the birthplace of a new era of music in New York City Punk.
While the letters CBGB ultimately didn't describe the music the club was renowned for, OMFUG Other Music for Uplifting Gourmandizers still represents what the club provides for all voracious consumers of music.
These pages pay homage to a musical and cultural landmark, It is a spectacular photography compilation which features some of the most celebrated artists in musical history
and chronicles the lastyears of rock and roll.
It also showcases photographs of famous patrons, including Andy Warhol, Allen Ginsberg and Jim Jarmusch, .
