Written in a very readable style, it looks to inspire you to create meaningful art, I recommend it highly! As a bit of a songwriting nerd I have read most books available on the subject.
I have a library at home of over! This is in the topof all books I have ever read on songwriting and I keep going back to it.

in the reader, but I found a lot of the advice basic and a little ham fisted.
The lyrical tips seemed particularly counter intuitive and forced, Maybe in the context of a twenty minute YouTube video it might have been worth viewing but I don't think this content justifies the length of a published book and the authoritative stance that implies.

“What most songwriting guides wont tell you is that success as a songwriter however you define it is as much about how you live your life and the way you see the world as it is about your skill with words and music.
”The Art of Songwriting is a comprehensive guide to life, art and making great songs, Its not about chasing a hit song, Its not about theories that are interesting but no use filling the blank page, And most of all its not just about the craft of songwriting, Its about how to create, think and live like a songwriter, Its about being resilient, innovative and passionate about what you make, Its about how artists can change the world and why they should, Stop relying on songwriting tricks, methods and shortcuts, It's time to embrace your inner artist, make your own rules and start creating like you've never created before, Please be advised this book contains occasional mild profanity and might not be suitable for unders terrible diatribe from someone clearly trying to profit on people with hobbies in music and curious about songwriting.
Its written like a half motivational advice mixed with some guy who once worked in the industry by winging it trying to pass on some sort of wisdom.
Of course, don't get me wrong I would be grateful from anyone trying to piece their experience together in a book, but this one made me feel dirty as it felt like they knew they were writing utter nonsense into the book.
There was very little actual or tangible help, You read the ork and then think ok, now how do I apply where's the exercise or example of an application just nothing "one time at band camp we made some lyrics up and it worked" save your money and write your own babbling text book, you'd do just as good.
