in an admirably dispassionate style It is this cool tone that makes what he has to say even compelling.
The Times I applaud Dave Petzer's books: A Child Called 'It' and The Lost Boy, His work is courageous and honorable, He uses a great deal of fortitude to unveil fascades abusers and the abused use, His childhood case was an extreme case, but nevertheless, I read this book when I was a young teenager and its a book, even though Ive read hundreds of others since, that Ill never ever forget.
Ive always mentioned it when talking about books to friends and family, always said whilst its an awful story its also a testament to a person not becoming what they know and have experienced if that makes sense.
Im writing this review because Ive just told myyear old daughter about it, shes going to read it and has made me want to read them all again myself.
In a nutshell its tragic, its heart wrenching, but highlights what happens in too many family homes all over the world, Read it! This is a true story book about the author, David, who was severely abused as a child from about ageto age, It tells the story of a child that spent most days starving, living in a cold basement, working chores until he couldn't stand, and not even being called by This story touched my heart, I read it several years ago when living in Cyprus, Ifound it on one of my friend's coffee tables I ordered it from and read it again.
. It is a remarkable story of great sadness, but courage and truimph, . this book made me feel This book is one I read many years ago and it stuck in my head, Dave Pelzer tells the story of his horrific childhood, I'm about to start bookin the trilogy, Praying he's rescued. Abuse is abuse, intended or unintentional, the impact is the same, This story is as much a monumental failing from society as much the mother, Children should be default happy, unless something is known, but this case supports out indifference and failings, I hope the next two offer some compassion, Hatte das Buch gekauft, um Englisch zu üben, habe aber bei der Hälfte aufgegeben, Der Inhalt ist eine Abfolge von mehr oder weniger kleinen Ereignissen, ohne Spannung, scheinbar ohne Ziel, einfach langweilig Auf dieses Buch wurde ich aufmerksam weil eine Mitreisende in der Bahn es in der deutschen Version gelesen hat.
The book shocked me and my girlfriend, we could not believe that something like this could happen in our well organized world, of course it was in the seventies but we were shocked and fascinated by the courage and living will of young boy DAVE.
We would recommend this book It's difficult to review a book like this, The writing is very simple, sometimes repetitive, There is little to no insight into why a loving mother suddenly turns against one of her own children in the vilest way imaginable, But then again this is not a novel, It is beyond the depths of imagination what this boy went through, But he fought and thank gd made it in the end, I first read this book in my late teens but never forgot it and now many years later I had to read it again, Heartbreaking but such strength. I read this book back when i was about eleven years old, . I'm nowreading it and the story is still shocking, . bless Dave for over coming everything n putting his story out there for the world to read, I'm sure he's helped and inspired many, I'm going on to the lost boy which I've not read yet, the sequel to this book
