really enjoyed this book, It was great that it was part of a series but you didn't have to read the first book in order to understand what was going on.
The book kept a great pace and wasn't boring in any part, I loved the characters and the storyline, I would definitely recommend this book to others!! Can't wait to read the next one!! Rita Herron specializes in romanticsuspense.
Her current series is Guardian Angel Investigations: Lost and Found which mostly focuses on the stories of hard boiled I never understood that phrase helping beautiful women find what they've lost, currently focusing on the children that Dr Emery, a local doctor had illegally adopted, telling their mother's that their children died or were kidnapped.
"The Missing Twin" is the first of this series, Madelyn Andrews approaching the agency and Detective Caleb Walker at her daughter's insistence that her twin sister is still alive, and in trouble.
As they dug further into the suspicious circumstances surrounding the twins' birth the more she began to rely on Caleb to be her rock.
But can they manage to rescue her daughter before it is too late
The premise of this story is an interesting one.
The casual acceptance of psychic powers was something a little more suited to Nocturne then Intrigue but they manage to make it work well enough.
They don't let it overpower the rest of the story, using it only as a minor plot device to both prompt Madelyn into investigating, giving Caleb and Sara a connection, and to provide a way to give them important details.
Its not quite a McGuffin but its pretty close, I don't begrudge Herron for using it with how, . . it isn't understated but it also isn't the focus of the story,
Caleb and Madelyn's connection, though forged in the face of tragedy and some gruesome stuff that I'll get to later felt slightly rushed.
Going from first meeting to marriage proposal in what is maybe three days is a bit fast, even for a Harlequin novel.
I'll allow it as the quick narrative style of the prose and how quickly things move is part of what sucks you in.
I would have liked for their romance to be explored a little more but I will bow to the fact that that isn't the focus of the Intrigue books which are suspense HEA.
The deaths, gruesomely described at times seemed to be excessive to making the point that 'the person who has Cissi is really bad'.
They kidnapped a baby, really one, maybe two deaths described deaths would have been enough to make the point and increase the suspense.
The body discovery offscreen and told to the characters could have saved some page space and given more development time to the relationship between Caleb and Madelyn.
Anyone who has enjoyed the previous Guardian Angel Investigations books and Rita Herron should really enjoy "The Missing Twin" as should any suspense fan who is okay with a body count shown on page.
It can possibly be triggering to anyone who has issues surrounding, graphic violence descriptions, issues with adoption, or kidnapping.
I give "The Missing Twin"hearts out of,
ltltltThis was an adorable, loving Harlequin Intrigue with mystery running thought the whole book! Couldnt put down and finished in half a day! Was such a lovely story about how a littleyear old twin found her missing sister, having known she had never been born dead her mother who believes her and follows though on her little girls nightmares and the man who made it all come true! GREAT read with a happy ending! I wonder if twins really have such connection in real life.
. . The Missing Twin
The Missing Twin
Great story, I have always believed that twins have that special connection to each other, I love this story and Caleb and Madelyn worked well together I love Rita Herrons books and can't wait to read the next one in this series slow start but a well written book.
I enjoyed this story, I liked this story with just a few reservations,
It did like both Caleb and Madelyn as well as Madelyn's daughter,
It had a good mystery working as well as plenty of tension as dangers get bigger and bigger and bodies start dropping.
I did like the connection that the little girl seemed to have and how her gift was similar to what Caleb has experienced.
Caleb was such an interesting mix of tough investigotor and tender man too,
Madelyn has been lied to so many times by so many people that it boggles the mind.
One person who has always stood in her corner though is her mother,
One thing that I didn't care for so much was the implication about lost souls, dead people hanging around because of different reasons.
The theme of they can't move on for one reason or another, And Caleb has an experience saying goodbye to a dead person, Although it was sweetly written, not a fan of that,
There is a H, E. A. which I am a fan of although I wish there had been a bit more to the romance between Caleb and Madelyn.
I get that they were on a mission and their relationship became a friendship and closeness developing from that.
Redhawk is one handsome hunk and I'm so glad they found Cissy in time, Now they're a family but it was awfully close, Pretty
good book. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series, Detective Caleb Walker had been on several tough cases since joining the Guardian Angel Investigations, but when Madelyn Andrews sought out help, claiming that her fiveyearold daughter had a connection with her twin sister who'd allegedly died shortly after birth, Caleb was skeptical at best.
But one glimpse of the beautiful single mother, and he couldn't just walk away, Taking the case had him looking into what really happened when Madelyn went into labor as suspicious details emerged.
Details that prompted Madelyn to cling to him as pain consumed her, And the deeper he dug, the more attached Caleb became to the tiny family, in their safety when danger threatened their livesand in their salvation when he promised to bring home the missing twin.
She claimed her daughter was out there somewhere, . . and it was his job to believe her, What a great addition to the Guardian Angel Investigations and the best so far, Miniseries: Guardian Angel Investigations: Lost and Found Detective Caleb Walker had taken on some tough cases for Guardian Angel Investigations, but when Madelyn Andrews came to him, claiming that her fiveyearold daughter was able to "communicate" with her twin sister who'd never made it home from the hospital, Caleb was skeptical.
One glimpse at the beautiful single mother, though, and he couldn't walk away, Now, as he looked into what had really happened when Madelyn went into labor, suspicious details were uncovered.
Details that prompted Madelyn to cling to him as pain consumed her, And the deeper he dug, the more invested Caleb became in their tiny family, in their safety when danger penetrated their livesand in their salvation when he promised to bring a little girl home.
