Will Emmet be able to over come things from his past to fall in love again and can Louise see her worth even if she can not have kids Read this book to find out.
This book was okay but I did not love it,
What I liked: I like the time period and the family, It is interesting to read how hard people had to work during this time period to keep food on the table and a roof on their head.
I felt the characters where believable and I hoped things would work out for them,
What I did not like: As much as I like the characters I did not feel like I connected with them.
In the first book Louise came across very fragile almost like she could barely walk and might never be healthy enough to get a job etc.
So when in this book she was healthy except for not being able to have kids she just did not even feel like the same character from the first book.
Emmet and his daughter where okay but he just up and left his ranch because he daughter had broken her leg which seemed like a bit of a stretch to be able to leave it that long.
His daughter started out a spoiled brat but slowly got better but I just did not like her that much and I felt the plot was a little week.
Over all it was an okay book to read but I found the short novella after it was more interesting then the main story.
I probably will read the third book when it comes out because I am curious about the youngest sister but this is not a series I am in love with.
sitelink com I wasn't as impressed with this sequel, but I liked how they realized their faults in the way they saw God as basically "punishing" them, but still stuck to their faith as if they had nothing else to hold on to.

Linda Ford dares to discuss the sensitive topic of infertility in her new novel The Cowboy Father.
Through her character Louisa, we are given a glimpse inside the mind of a woman experiencing this firsthand, We feel for her loss, but at the same time, are moved by her dependence on God alone,
I enjoyed this book, but I wasn't pulled into the storyline as I would have hoped.
I loved learning about how the depression and drought affected Canada much like here in America,

The Cowboy Father is a very sweet love story, It takes place during the depression in Alberta, Canada, While the plot is something we've seen before, the characters are so real that it is easily overlooked,
Your first impression of Emmet's daughter, Ellie, is not a good one, She's in a body cast after a fall from a tree, breaks her leg, I'm not sure why a broken leg would require a body cast, but I'm going to assume Ms, Ford did her research and that this is correct, She is the most stubborn obnoxious child, I've ever read about, However, she is a motherless little girl and she's cooped up in a house with nothing to do while she recovers, so her misbehavior is almost understandable.
Louisa is totally sweet and hardworking, However the diagnosis of her barrenness after a long illness is taking over her life, In a way, she comes across as feeling sorry for herself, No one could love her because she couldn't have a baby, The same is true for Emmet, He lets what he feels are failures from his past dictate his future, The reason for his guilt is revealed toward the end of
the story, and deals with the death of his parents.
I don't want to spoil the story for any of you, but I will say, when you read it, you will cry.
I know I did.
This two broken people are definitely suited for each other, but it takes a lot to get them together.
Oh and not to worry, there's another child for both Louisa and Emmet, but you'll have to read the book to find out more!
