Check Out Knightsbridge: The Art Of Keith Parkinson Devised By Keith Parkinson Distributed In Electronic Text
Parkinson is was one of my favorite artists, He passed away not long ago Oct,and he is missed. Here is a collection of some of his work, . . I recommend it if you enjoy fantasy art, or maybe just good art, Well after a very tentative and careful venture out to my local charity bookshop I come away with this hidden gem the works of Keith Parkinson and I have to say I cannot be happier.
I love these books which showcase some of the most gifted and creative minds in the fantasy and science fiction art world but when I realise that I recognise the majority of the work due to the fact so many of my favourite book carry his work the pleasure is all the greater.
The only slight compliant is that they have named the pieces without giving reference to the book that carries, Now I know that sometimes this is at the artists request wanting their work to be remembered off the back of the quality of the work rather than being linked to someone else's endeavour but it does mean I have spent some time today trying to remember where I have seen a specific piece.
This book is a joy to read and I have to admit a rare find as I now discover it is out of print worth the wait.
I just have to say I LOVE his work! I was first turned on to Keith Parkinson's work when I read the Sword of Truth series and was hooked from then on.
It is very ironic that a great artist is only noticed after death, : Growing up, I had a CDROM of Keith Parkinson computer wallpapers, I didn't know who he was at the time, only that he had illustrated some of the Shannara books, When I found this book, which reproduced all of my favorite pieces from that CD as unadorned plates, I had to have it,
Parkinson wasn't a master of anatomy like, say, Boris Vallejo, but he made up for this in terms of narrative, Looking at his paintings, you couldn't help but wonder about the story behind them,
I was sad to learn that Parkinson passed away fairly young from cancer he wasn't yetand can't help but wonder what his later career might have been like.
As for this book, my only complaint is that the paintings carry Parkinson's titles without necessarily referencing the books on which they appeared, That would have been a nice bit of information, This book is Keith Parkinson's popular fantasy artist first bound collection, Inside, you will see more thanof Keith's classics, including work for Guardians and cover art for Terry Brooks, David Eddings and more, as well as sketches and techniques never before seen.
This is your chance to
witness fantastic worlds from a master of fantasy, .
