Grab Your Edition Gluten-Free On A Shoestring, Quick And Easy: 100 Recipes For The Food You Love -- Fast! Depicted By Nicole Hunn Accessible Via Document
simply can not say enough good things about this cookbook, Hardly a weekend goes by without using one of her recipes, I can honestly say that I do not know what I would do without this book, My husband and daughter both have Celiac disease, When they were first diagnosed, I was lost, how would we eat . what could we eat. I stumbled upon the Gluten Free on a Shoestring blog and I found hope, and donuts and cookies and all kinds of tasty items, I own both of her cookbooks and have the next one soon to be released ordered, This is my favorite so far,
We don't eat desserts and bread everyday but we want these things every so often, I love the section in the back of the book where she gives you the recipes to make your own mixes.
I have baked the brownies and brought them to many pot lucks and nobody every even knew that they were gluten free.
they were just gone. We have made the donuts on the cover, the muffins in the mix section, chocolate cupcakes from the mix section, vanilla cupcakes from the mix section, flour tortillas, and the cinnamon rolls just to name a few.
Not only are the recipes delicious and easy to follow, Nicole has written the cookbook with pieces of her sense of humor which I love.
I would highly recommend this cookbooks for anyone who wants to eat gluten free but still wants to eat good food.
Food should not be good for gluten free, . if I am going to serve it to my family it needs to be good and gluten free.
Gluten free cooking is expensive, I purchased this book thinking she would have some good recipes that were inexpensive to fix, She uses an expensive premade gluten free flour that ranges about/lb, I had to adjust my thinking, I wanted inexpensive food that was comparable to their gluten counterparts, Instead, she compares the cost of her food to a glutenfree product, In truth, that makes sense, but it disappointed me, Unless you have a pressure cooker, don't bother with this book and get her other one instead, Her baking recipes make the best tasting gluten free desserts that I have made, so don't write her off.
Just buy her other book, The "shoestring" is relative. A glutenfree diet is an expensive thing, Nicole presents sound tips and saving stratigies along with excellent recipes to help you on your way, After giving up wheat seven months ago, I've been totally lost on how to bake or cook anymore.
The cost of the ingredients alone can break you, packaged items if you find them are even more expensive.
Enter this fabulous blog by Nicole Hunn, She has three books out and I chose to buy this one first, Time is almost nonexistent in my life, Learning how to cook and bake without wheat has been so daunting,
Not so after this book, I have a good number
of the ingredients on hand, Her directions are clear and consists with very little confusion, She also gives you good information on the utensils you will need versus the ones that will be nice.
Explaining the need to weigh items instead of using volume was a good tip,
By far the best gluten free cookbook I've found, There's not enough here to justify a new book of this size, Too much repetition. I honestly think that instead, Hunn should have updated the original book with "quicker variations" for the overlapping dishes and an added "quick and easy" section.
Either that, or a smaller sized book, I skimmed. Looks decent. May want to borrow from the library again for specific recipes, Could be a useful addition for those who are looking for cookbooks to keep, Recipes are straight forward, seem genuinely quick unlike some that make that claim, Lots of recipes that look good and interesting, Lots of helpful recipes for a gluten/free lifestyle! Great and easy recipes! The pizza/calzone dough recipe and cinnamon roll recipe are my favorites.
Such a great book! Great variety of recipes! exactly what you need to do glutenfree cooking, Great! One of my favorite gluten free authors, Easy to follow down to earth recipies, I have quite a few glutenfree/wheatfree cookbooks but this is the first one that's supposed to be quick, easy and cheap.
I appreciated the basics chapter, the kitchen tools chapter and the chapter on making your own mixes, All the chapters with actual meals were okay but there were only a handful of so things I actually want to try.
I did notice some ingredients that aren't very easy to find or cheap and some things that require specialized equipment which is annoying but I guess a lot of people already own air fryers, InstaPots and double boilers.
I also found the lack of photos to be the worst thing about the book, at least on my ebook.
It only had a few photos in the middle of the book and none with the actual recipes.
So for the ebook version I'm giving this, stars. I write a gluten free recipe food blog, sitelink Gluten Free on a Shoestring, and sitelink gluten free cookbooks.
Gluten free food can be very expensive, but it shouldnt be, I help you make it enjoyable and affordable, I write a gluten free recipe food blog, sitelink Gluten Free on a Shoestring, and sitelink gluten free cookbooks.
