B . you already know how much I loved this book
Nicole Reed finds herself kidnapped and her friend dead, but nothing prepared her for the darkness that was ahead.
She soon learns there is a reason behind her abduction, If she can prove herself worthy to her captors, her life will be spared, Nicole is to be a teacher to a small boy that is to destined to become one of them, The mastermind behind her abduction is Cyrus, who always keeps her guessing what his next move will be, but her day to day care is in the hands of Vince.
Her only motivation at this point is to protect the young boy she is meant to teach,
Vince is a tortured soul, torn between what he knows is wrong and what he has been raised to believe, Nicole is his first charge and he wants to prove himself to Cyrus, but on his own terms, Soon it becomes a race of survival for Nicole and Vince, as they find themselves on the same team fighting to stay alive,
I absolutely loved this book and will definately read her other stories, The darkness of this story grabs ahold and won't let go til the last page, Bianca developed strong characters that blended well with their fellow leads, Nicole and Vince's emotional bond is deep and multifacted as he teaches her ways to cope with the enviorment in which she is captive within,
Really really hard to rate this,
First half isand last half is, . aroundor less.
I really liked the first book, because it was full of emotions and after finishing the book, I felt still connected to it,
But with collateral damage it is different,
I developed a deep deep hate against females that are abit, . dumb might the wrong word, but they are not really thinking, We have here one sexy powerfull vampire and a stupid human on drugs, But ofc, she needs to do everything to save him, And sadly, in every book of this kind, the author creates situations where it is totally okay for the dumb female to rescue the powerfull vampire, We totally ignore here that we have a squishy mortal meatball the female and an immortal powerfull guy,
I can't remember, that this was so extrem in the first book, Maybe my hate grew abit lately, but it really took away all my joy of this book,
I really can't connect with the female in this book, I don't get her, she can suffer I don't know what stuff and forget it right after, But starting to freak out in a mudhole She was chained in a cage for a whole while and no reaction at all
But the creativity Mrs Sommerland shows is amazing.
So many fun ways of having fun with a person, I really like to know how she comes up with some of the stuff she writes, And thats enough for me, to give herfor this book, I wanted to give, I really wanted to love this book, but I can't overlook the female character in this book, Makes me angry just to think about her,
I hope the thrid book will have less TSTL females in it, So, so, so, so amazingly good! I thought I liked the first book, but this was even better can't wait for the third
You don't have to read the first book to understand this one, if gives some context to some of the players, but everything is explained here.
I also love that nothing is in your face regarding the characters and you get to discover things along the way, Even things you think you know, they are further explained as the characters get to know each other
We start with Nicole, a preschool teacher, seemingly all light and hearts and rainbows, being kidnapped and assaulted.
As we move through the story with her, we learn more and more about her darker side and the circumstances that have shaped her, At her base though, she still is that caring and sweet woman, so the contrast just makes her seem human, She is fallible, she has facets and sides, and adjusts to her circumstances to make the best of it,
Vince is our hero, for lack of a better explanation, He jumps between overly caring, to mean and nasty, and then to victim, sometimes all in one scene, Regardless of all that, you can't help but root for him, you know he has something big planned, and you want to keep believing in him, as Nicole does, to see what he is up to.
Finally we have the reason these two noble characters are brought together, Alrik, Alrik is the boy who is innocently living in an extremely dangerous situation He is the bait, the punishment and the reason for manipulation of so many
If you are uneasy of dark stories, and not dark characters, but dark actions, this isn't the book for you.
If you are okay with them, and like a story with complex and intriguing characters, you will love this book! This is the second installment of at least abook series.
You could read it as a stand alone, but it would be best read in order, Answers some questions that would be there for the reader if you didn't read DEADLY CAPTIVE first, Again, it's worth owning these books just to look at the dang covers! mmmmmmmhhhhhhh Please note that if you do not like supernatural beings, this is not the series for you.
Cyrus, the extremely bad entity, is as potent in this book as the first, All I can say is that I really hope this isn't real, or I at least stay beautifully oblivious to it all, : He thrives on the pain, depravity, and humiliation of others,
This book introduces us to Vince and Nicole, Vince has been under Cyrus' care since he was young, He is being bred to follow in Cyrus' footsteps, Vince is hard yet caring in his own way, Very sexy and stands up as much as he can against Cyrus when able,
Nicole is a teacher that is taken and brought into Cyrus' world, The depravity is atrocious but beautifully written, After finishing the first book I wondered if Nicole was in for the same fate as Lydia, I was again suprised. I liked the vulnerability, love, and yet fiestiness of her, Her protective nature was astounding, Not certain that many would endure for another, Especially one that she did not know,
The third installment is due out early, Please make this happen Bianca, I am so ready to see how this all plays out, I've thoroughly enjoyed your writing and did not find too many grammatical errors which seems to be very rare in today's novels, WOW!!! This book went places I really wasn't expecting, but what a ride!!! I absolutely loved Nicole, wasn't sure about Vince in the beginning but that changed, And Cyrus, man I want that guy dead,
Nicole was one of the strongest characters I've ever read, She focused on two things during her captivity and those two things allowed her to endure horrific torture, I can't wait to read the last book in this series!!!! WARNING: If you have triggers dont read this book
I will admit I was confused at first because these were new characters except for the bad guy but eventually it made sense.
Like the first book in the series this book will take you to some very dark, twisted and scary places, It proves to me that hope is the scariest and most precious gift we can have, Make sure you have plenty of time because you wont want to put it down,
If you picked up this book because of the uberhot cover thinking youre getting a sizzling hot romance, let me pop that bubble now, Collateral Damage is most definitely NOT a romance, There is passion, there is sex, there is even good and evil, but romanceNOPE! If your tastes in books run towards the dark, depraved and twisted erotic, Collateral Damage is right up your alley.
I would love to elaborate on the blurb, but the temptation to throw spoilers out right and left is too powerful so Ill just say Cyrus is up to his old tricks in a new twisted way.
Stars. Once again, I am giving a book in this series astar rating, However, this book I do know I enjoyed, Collateral Damage is not as viscously twisted as the first book but in its own way just as disturbing when you factor in Cyrus plan for the little boy in the story.
When I learned his name, I definitely know I was in for another rollercoaster ride in the darkminus the screaming soundtrack, Nicole was a fairly decent character and for the most part I did like her, The thing that really irritated me about her was her completely incredible ability to get over all the forced sex she has to endure, Im sorry, youre gang raped and you are completely functional afterwards! I think not, Vince was my favorite from beginning to end, Hes not all bad, but then again, hes not all good, He is definitely an interesting character, which is probably why I was able to relax and enjoy this story,
Flames. Despite my feeling this book was less harsh than its predecessor was, it still is fairly violent, Majority of the sex is nonconsensual and extremely violent, That goes for the M/F, M/M/F as well as the M/M action, That is of course on top of rape including gang rape, beatings, anal, DP, D/s and voyeurism, Then theres this whole power tool section Sorry for the spoiler! that I have no idea how to classify, There are a few moments between Nicole and Vince that are somewhat vanilla and nice but they are very few and very far between,
As depraved as this series is I find I am really getting into it, This is definitely not a book or series for that matter for everyone, So once again, I will not commit to a recommendation but I will say this is a series that needs to be read in order to get the full experience.
I will say this my friends who have finished reading Deadly Captive are now clambering for Collateral Damage, Unfortunately, we will all be tortured together waiting for the next book, One hopes Ms. Sommerland does not pull a Cyrus, and subject us to endless torture waiting for its release,
I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review, The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated,
Stars, Flames
WOW! That was intense, . I couldn't put it down! Her first book in this series was my intro to Dark Erotica and I loved it, . this book however, blew my mind! I am so looking forward to the next book, . there was so much growth from this author already! : As reviewed on Kinkybookreviews, com:
by Penelope:
This is the second installment of the Deadly Captive series and Cyrus, a sociopath vampire, has resurfaced with his underground pseudo entertainment arena.
He and his vampire group have been rebuilding their human slave stock hiding
their activities from the hunters,
What starts off as an average normal day for Nicole Reed, early education educator, turns into her worst nightmare when she is abducted at Precious Darlings Daycare while rescuing a boy who has wandered off.
A seemingly random kidnapping, she soon finds out that she was specially targeted for a very specific position, A position that, if she fails to qualify for or resists to submit and entertain her captors, risks being dismissed by Cyrus never to be seen or heard from again.
Vince, one of Cyrus's vampire guards, accepts the responsibility of Nicole's training and prepares her for the arena, Exercising total control of her body and mind, he teaches her the true nature of her sexuality, That only through her total submission to him will she survive whats coming, And Cyrus. Her journey surviving rape, torture, humiliation, and submission pits student against master, Slave against captor. And putting her trust in the wrong person could get her killed, But, with the right one, will complete a need for her to become whole body and soul,
There are so many warnings and tags to caution the reader that this read is no mainstream fairy tale kidnapping romance, It addresses a dark and extreme aspect of sexual slavery, No surprise there. That's why the author has these, Don't let that scare you off if you are looking to read a fictional paranormal erotic BDSM story, The reality of kidnapping, victim abuse and survival, cycle of abuse, BDSM lifestyle, and exploration of one's own sexuality would not be as believable if the author wouldn't have taken this route.
The heroine portrayed pulls off not only surviving all the depravity she experiences but finds that by surviving she is still worthy enough to love and be loved.
This fictional story of humans captured by vampires for their pleasure has many intense and sometimes uncomfortable scenes, but I got lost in believing that this was really happening to Nicole and that's a compliment to the author.
And it's an extra plus when she brings back characters from her previous book that I wanted to reacquaint myself with,
Overall, reviews/warnings had me confused if I was suppose to like this book or not because certain red flag triggers were there, I can honestly say that this book was well written with a hard to write story line that i loved and appreciated, It is a read that many authors would not have attempted because of subject matter, But once I actually sat down and started reading it I couldn't put it down, I look forward with anxious excitement for Bianca's next Deadly Captive read,
STAY TUNED! Tomorrow Riane has partof her two part interview with Cyrus!!,
