I loved Caleb, He was smart, funny and a very nice guy, He has always been in love with Kevin, but has not dared to confess it to him, I absolutely loved Kevin since he was a real bad boy and a player, I was happy and shocked to know that Kevin loved Caleb as well, thus the name of the novel fits perfectly.
On the downside, the story felt a little too long, even though it was a short story, It would have been better if the story was cut straight to the point or reduce the pages of internal conflict of the main character.

His best friend was Sho, a blind child who was the son of his fathers servants, But everything is not perfect since at just ten years old, Sho has to leave with a Blind Guild, Against Hirata and Shos wishes, he leaves and is never seen again, Before he is taken away however, Hirata promises that he will look for him someday, When Hirata is seventeen years old, he leaves his home and finds Sho ten years later, Everything should have been perfect, but its not since Sho does not recognize him,

This novel is not my type, but it was a masterpiece, The author clearly shows knowledge about this era and culture beyond my expectations, At first, I was sad by Shos rejection to Hirata since the guy had been looking for him for TEN years.
For ten solid years, he looked far and wide for his one and true love, Now, thats true love! After Sho told us his side of the story, I fell for the kid even more.
He was a lost little boy who was force to grow up away from his family, friends and love, I knew then why he behaved that way, Everything about this story was perfect and story line was believable, The author did an amazing job with this short little story,

Devon Haynes is an ice skater who has been training with Lance Dawes, They have been in love with each other, but neither of them have had the courage to say it out loud to each other.
When the Olympic Trail nears, they become closer and shared their troubling conflicts,

D. H. Starr is an amazing author, There is no doubt about that, His writing style comes alive on every page, but this was my least favorite story, Dont get me wrong, the characters and story were great

and believable, Everything flew well, but I dont know why this story felt too long like the first one, Maybe, it was the amount of pages given to the troubling thoughts surrounding the characters, This would have been much better if it was cut straight to the point or reduce the number of pages of internal conflict of the main characters.


I recommend this novel to anyone who wants to read three amazing little stories about how friends become lovers and one in the same.
I would rate this a,. I'm just not a fan of short stories, A couple of thesewere still well rounded, hence the,. A nice friendstolovers anthology. Two of them are even childhood friendstolovers story,

Caleb and Kevin were best friends since high school, Caleb had loved Kevin for long, but he never said anything to his friend, Partly because his friend seemed to have different guy every week, Caleb was fine with that, Until one day, when Kevin told Caleb that he met 'the one', and asked if Caleb wanted to meet the new boyfriend, Jason.
Caleb was panic. Out of loyalty, he said yes, But could Caleb stand watching his best friend whom he loved making out with another man all night long

A nice story, but I felt the story is dragged a bit.
The author uses the usual 'unexpected' trope here, but it falls flat.
Partly because Caleb's inner thoughts are too dominant in the story that the revelation becomes anticlimax,

Hirata was a son of Samurai, and Sho was a blind son of the servants in Hirata's house.
They were best friends. At age, Sho was given to a Blind Guild so he could be trained skills that blind people could do like massage.
The separation haunted Hirata, and at agehe left his house to find his best friend, For years, he couldn't find Sho, Until one day, he found him outside a gambling place, There's one problem. Sho didn't recognize him and told him to leave him alone,

A gem. One of the best novellas I've read, By having Japanese Samurai period as a setting, the author could take advantage of the norm and social structure of that period.
And she uses it masterfully, Whether they are realistic and accurate, I don't know, But they are believable, a requirement in a historical fiction, The author stated that one character, the Blind Master who took Sho as his apprentice, is a character in a Japanese series.
Since I don't follow that series, it doesn't matter for me : Enough to say that not only he's a blind masseur, he's also a masterful swordsman.


Sho was really a jerk when he met Hirata.
But Hirata's kindness shined, and inturn, put Sho into shame, The realization, and the ramification of it, were done beautifully, The spirit of Bushido, particularly honor and loyalty, are shown nicely, Even a sex scene between an MC and another person, which usually I despise, serves a purpose,

The story flows nicely, and the angst arises not from neverending indecisive inner thoughts, but from the realization of not acting according to the honor codes.
The author pays attention to details, and use everything to support the story, The only thing I don't understand is Sho's adamant position that because of his role he couldn't have friendship and companionship when his Master actually had it.
But it's minor.

Devon was ayr old ice skater who trained with Lance, a former Olympian, They had known each other for several years, and wanted each other for that long but never said anything, Devon was not sure if Lance wanted him, and vice versa, When at one point they found each other's desire, would their relationship influence Devon's chance in the US Trial for the Olympics

Mr.
Starr's writing stle, like usual, is flawless, But, like the first story, this one is also felt dragged, As if the author tried too hard to make this a psychological treatise that at the end bogged down the story, and felt preachy.
Instead of tying the inner thoughts with the events so the story doesn't seem to be a merely vehicle to the message, the way the insecurity is handled is by each person analyzing what's going on and offers their advices to Devon.
Verbally. In addition to Devon's neverending inner thoughts,

The story suffers from what Devon's father keeps reminding him: over analyze everything, If this were a fullblown novel, it may be appropriate, As this is only a novellalength, it overpowers the plot and characters themselves,
