Get Feat Of Clay (Men Of London, #4) Drafted By Susan Mac Nicol Version
review
Men of London just got even hotter, I would say you could read this as a standalone but if you are like me and like to start at the beginning knowing all the characters, start with 'Love You Senseless'.
This is Clay's story and oh boy! it's awesome, Clay has a very handsome but also very trouble partner called Tate,
The love that you feel while reading this story just warms your heart, Every relationship has it's ups and downs, Maybe some more than most but what Clay and Tate are dealing with is more than who left the toilet seat up or who's turn is it to do the dishes.
Tate is suffering with nightmares after being captured and tortured while undercover, I can not even begin to imagine how you would deal with this, It's scary enough to read about what he went through never mind have to deal with it day in and day out.
Clay is Tate's rock, he is so strong and hot and sexy and Oh God! Sorry where was I
Tate has secrets that even Clay doesn't know and he never wants him to find out believing that Clay would want nothing more to do with him.
They have wanted each other since they were very young, growing up as best friends, Everyone could see how much they loved each other, no matter how much they thought it was just their secret.
Clay is very protective of Tate to the point where he starts to feel like a child.
Sometimes you have to let go in order for your loved ones to grow and Clay is learning this the hard way.
He is everything that Tate needs and vice versa, They love each other so much, It's finding that middle ground so life can go on as smoothly as possible,
Tate likes to draw when he needs a distraction, Hmm well okay draw maybe not the right word, He's an artist of sorts, To me it's called Graffiti, He likes to find a blank canvas of wall and well graffiti it,
Each to their own people, It actually is art, I couldn't do it, Could you
Let me tell you more about Clay, He has his own business called 'Mortimer Investigations', He is former SAS, doesn't that just turn you on, Okay maybe just me then, LOL.
Clay is a powerful male, very commanding but yet gentle, He loves with everything he has, He's just the ultimate package,
Yes people I am in love with Clay and not only does he bat for the other team he's a fictional character so I have zero chance of ever hooking up with him.
Another book boyfriend to add to my list, Story of my life.
This book is another fantastic read from the Men of London Series, If you love the M/M Genre with a great story then this book is definitely for you.
Susan Mac Nicol YOU ROCK!! Thank you for another fabulous read, Im not a huge fan of romances featuring already established couples, and to be honest, that wasnt what I was expecting when I started this book.
My take on the blurb was that this was a story about Clay and Tate finding their way into a relationship, but when the story begins, the two men have already been togetherfor about a year So its fair to say that this book had a mark against it right from the beginning, even though I reread the blurb and conceded that my assumption was probably my own fault.
The reason I shared this is because it shows just how awesome this book was that, even going into it kinda disgruntled, I enjoyed the ever lovin heck out of it.
Tate Williams was an undercover cop whose true identity was revealed to the dangerous criminal he had befriended.
As a result he spent four days being tortured by the man before he became bored and shot Tate three times.
Believing Tate dead, his body was dumped in the street but luckily for Tate he was taken to hospital and saved.
Over a year later and in a serious relationship with his long time friend, Clay, Tates body has recovered but his mind refuses to completely heal.
And that is what this story is all about, Tate healing, Throughout the story Clay and Tate remain steadfastly in love with each other, which I definitely appreciated, One reason I dont like books with established couples is because I hate seeing relationships that have already made it to a certain point being messed with.
The strengthening of their connection is evident, as Tate heals, he stops using sex with Clay as a way to forget the bad stuff and the depth of his feelings begins to show through, rather than him just saying the words.
Yes, Tate does run off on Clay a couple of times when he needed to stay and talk shit out, but their relationship is never in jeopardy.
This may actually be the first story that hasnt annoyed the hell out of me when a character gets angry or upset and takes off.
It made complete sense in this context,
Perhaps Clay, as a main character, is left a little unexplored but the focus here really was on Tate and Im completely okay with that.
Tate was a complex and broken character and needed all the page time he could get to recover.
Together the two men are sizzling, the sex scenes hot and plentiful, but I also enjoyed reading about Tate while he was away from Clay.
The halfway house for kids, Castaways, was one of my favourite parts of this story and I hope it pops up again in future books.
And, just sayin, while were there Jax could seriously do with his own romance, I challenge anyone who reads this story to not fall in love with the beautiful, wounded teen,
This is book number four in the Men of London series but it can be read as a standalone.
While the characters from the first three books make appearances they dont play any important roles in this story.
Ive read the first two books already, but somehow missed the third which I will surely remedy posthaste, and I think its safe to say that this is my favourite story in the collection so far.

There have been a number of military/paramilitary m/m series released recently.
The attraction is obvious. Two highly trained alpha men in great shape with dark pasts Perfect, But while this story contains most of the elements I love in an actionpacked m/m, it just didnt grip me as similar stories have.
I did love Tate, Rebuilding his life after being tortured in the line of duty, he is a beautiful, troubled character, His relationship with Jax and the Castaways children is very sweet, I wanted to love Clay, but I dont feel I ever get to really know him, His paramilitary group is never really explained to readers, I wanted to know about his team and his cases but MacNichol only ever gives us snippets of Clays life.
Both Clay and Tate lacked the personality quirks that made me fall in love with Abigail Rouxs Ty and Zane, AE Vias God and Day or Xavier Maynes Brandt and Donnelly.
Their interactions as a couple are sexy, but lack the warmth, personality and humour I need to really believe in a relationship.
Deeply earnest couples therapy isnt terribly sexy and neither are Tates tantrums, Clays role as the old man in the relationship was slightly odd, Hes ayearold field agent in his prime, And for someone who had a career as an undercover detective, Tate reads as much younger than he could possibly be.
This book pushes the boundary between erotica and romance because most of the relationship building happens in the bedroom.
The sex is pretty vanilla, but its hot and frequent,
The action sequences didnt work for me at all, At one point Tate and Clay are involved in a car chase because of one of Clays cases.
Readers dont know much about the case, dont know who is chasing them or why, In the UK, where even cops on active duty dont carry guns routinely, the men engage in a deadly shootout on a motorway and are allowed to go home without much questioning.
Really
Once again, Susan MacNichol sets her book in London but litters her writing with Americanisms.
Little things began to irk me, A small British child would eat strawberry laces, not a string of liquorice!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
