ilang taong pananahimik muling naligalig ang aking mundo, Tatlong makata mula sa bagong henerasyon ang muling nagpamulat sa akin nang tunay na estado ng ating bansa.
Ang mga tula ni Arlan Camba ay pagmumulat sa atin sa mga bagay na nangyayari sa ating paligid mula sa kahabaghabag na sitwasyon ng mga ordinaryong mamamayan hanggang sa marangya at maimpluwensiyang buhay ng mga makapangyarihan.
Tangan ni Arlan ang talim ng mga salitang siguradong susugat sa iyong pagkatao,
Ito'y isa sa mga nagustuhan ko mula sa Barikada ng mga Bituka
isang kahig, isang tuka,
isang tuka, puro awa,
iniluha'y puro awa
kinita'y puro luha
sa limusang lata,
isinanlang kaluluwa
por kilong ligaya!
Ang mga tula naman ni Pia Montalban ay gaya rin ng dalawang makata na nagsasawalat ng kaniyang hinanakit, poot.
Ngunit sa kabila nito'y nagawa niyang maipadama ang malambot niyang puso sa bawat tula kalungkutan man o patungkol sa bagong pagasa mararamdaman mo ang kaniyang pagmamahal at ang kaniyang pagkalinga.

Sa kaibuturan ng puso,
ninais kong maniwala sa iyo,

Ngayon na lamang ako ulit nakabasa ng tula at masaya akong mula kina Camba, Montalban at Rafal ang aking unang nabasa.
Tama ngang hindi natatapos sa tula ang pakikibaka, bawat isa sa atin sa tingin ko'y may mga hakbang na dapat gawin para maparating natin sa makapangyarihan na tayo'y natuto na, na hindi na bastabasta mapapasunod sa katiwalian.

And it was at that age, . . Poetry arrived in search of me,These lines in Pablo Neruda's poem entitled Poetry just crossed my mind while reading this Tagalog poetry anthology of three young Filipino poets: Himno ng Apoy sa Gubat ng Dilim Translation: Hymn of Fire in the Forest of Darkness.
I dont know,
I dont know where it came from, from winter or a river.
I dont know how or when,
no, they were not voices,
they were not words, nor silence,
but from a street I was summoned,
from the branches of night,
abruptly from the others,
among violent fires or returning alone,
there I was without a face
and it touched me.
I don't know where these talented young poets have been hiding all these years, I am not a big fan of poems and I have been picking a book or two just for the sake of reading them.
But this book This really made me think twice about prose being above poetry, The poems in this book are really amazing as they speak to the inner recesses of a patriotic heart.
All countryloving Filipinos should read this book,
Arlan Camba, His poems are melodious, I am not even sure if poems are supposed to have melody in them, Camba's poems can shoot you to the air, can bring you down to tears or make you miss your mom who you have not seen for years.
He paints vivid pictures that a Filipino or any loving citizen of any other thirdworld countries can relate too.
He chose the exact strong verbs and adjectives and aimed to have perfect rhymes without compromising his message.
Excellent.
Pia Montalban, There are very few Filipino poets, Especially fewer are the Filipino women poets, For that alone, Pia Montalban should be lauded, We need more women to express their innermost feelings for us to understand what they want to say.
For us to feel what they feel, I mean, women novelist can also do that by writing prose but nothing beats reading rhythmic poetry that not only can caress your hearts but can make you think of where your country is going and what makes all these extraordinary is that a simple based on the authors' profile at the end of the book yaya and private tutor of two elementary children can move you like no other poet can.
MJ Rafal, I have met MJ Rafal on three separate occasions but that is definitelynot
the reason why I am giving this book a high rating.
But come on, knowing the author makes a lot of difference while reading his work, right When he writes about the color yellow as not the answer to the country's woes because he believes that it should be red and I remembered that during our Agos field trip he was wearing white, I smiled.
Maybe he did not want himself to be too obvious But hey, having to smile while enjoying his works and knowing him better by knowing his political views is priceless.
After all, book clubbing is not only about discussing about books but making friends and those friends are probably the ones that you will try to keep for the rest of your life.
Why If you really love books you will read and read this your last breath or until you're eyes can no longer take it.
Each of these young poets should have many, many books of his/her own, They all deserve to be read and be appreciated by many, many Filipinos here in the country but also overseas.
