isn't good with kids, And after a traumatic experience he isn't good with the town of Haggerston either, He might be a local hero, but he needs to get outand he has found a way, But when a little boy from his past walks back into town and his life he finds leaving isn't as easy as he thought.
Patricia Johns is a fabulous author, My heart went out to Matt as I read this book, There are some things in life that are hard, they are hard to read about even in fiction, but I would still highly recommend this book.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for happy endings,
Note of caution: If you are a crier, don't read this one at the playground after school unless you don't mind weird looks from other moms.
. . truestory.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from Propeller Consulting, LLC in exchange for an honest review, A wonderful and sweet story, . . about adoption and true family! First responder, putting your life at risk, sacrifice for others is a job for the trained, not anybody can do it, Quick easy read but the story line is complex especially being a public figure position and everyone judges,
Rachel Chris and Matt's story,
moving away running away is tough decision to make, to be near family or away,
Grief is personal, but God makes sure you aren't alone by being with you ahead, along side, behind, I had to find out what all the hype is out because Harlequin's Love Inspired line of paperbacks are some of the most checked out books in my library.
We get six new titles a month ranging from historical to modern romance to Amish, most titles include at least one of the following words in the title: firefighter, cowboy, rancher, bachelor, widow, doctor, or Amish.
I never took them very seriously and wondered what could possibly keep patrons coming back for more, Reading this book, helped me get some insight onto the popularity of these quick reads, This novel, A Firefighter's Promise, follows the story of a young widow and her son who just moved to town to find a fresh start.
Rachel's son Carter had a hard time at school because he was bullied for being adopted, Rachel hopes that by moving to the town where he was found abandoned at a fire station he can start to put down some roots and make peace with his life.
What Rachel didn't expect was to run into a handsome fireman, the same one who took care of Chris when he was left there as an infant.
There is an undeniable attraction between the two, but Matt the sexy firefighter is in a rush to leave town to flee the memory of the little girl he was unable to save from a fire a few years prior.
It's chaste, romantic, cute, and charming, Why don't Matt's exist in the real world! Overall, it was a quick light hearted, feel good read, and I can see why people are soo eager to read these titles.
Who wouldn't want to escape into a perfect world where everything has a happy ending

My Rating:out ofstars,
Each of the Love Inspired novels is an adventure for readers the moment the book is opened, Here a young boy named Christopher is recently told by his mother that he was adopted, Christopher begins to have trouble at school eventually resulting in his being expelled, His mother Rachael moves back to her hometown in the hopes that Christopher will adjust and adapt to life in a small town along with meeting the firefighter who found him in a box outside the station one rainy night seven years ago.
Rachael only has Christopher after being widowed five years prior when her firefighter husband was killed one night while on duty, Rachael knows all too well what living with a public servant is like so she shies away from any man showing interest in her who works as a firefighter.
After finishing the novel, my respect and admiration for all public servants grew even though this is a fictional novel, I could see the toll it would take on any relationship or family when at any moment an emergency could pull their loved one into the line of fire.
The other issues fictionalized for readers are not the main focus, but the hope and restoration that God can bring into lives is the highlighted message.
Waiting for the right moment when God brings two people together is inspiring and being together for a lifetime, though it involves work, is priceless! There are many other stories Love Inspired offers.
A Firefighters Promise is a standalone novel,

Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing a sample of the product in exchange for this review, Patricia Johns wove together a great love story! I loved both of the backgrounds presented for the hero and heroine, I especially like the story of Matt and the grief he is still living, We often don't think about what others less connected with the victims lose, When we talk about an accident over and over again and point out that person who tried to save them, we don't think about the grief they are feeling that they don't WANT to be seen as a hero.
They just want somebody to grieve with them and tell them it'll be okay,
I also felt sorry for Chris, He was having a hard time accepting the fact that his birth mother didn't want him, The author presents another side to the "adoption" story, He was wanted very much, Kids often don't understand the whole adoption thing, and the author did a great job in tackling this issue as well, . .
Very good story all around! Another quick, fun, good Love Inspired read, Quite a nice way to pass the time, : A Hero for Her Son
When the baby he rescued seven years ago returnswith his widowed adoptive momDeputy Fire Chief Matt Bailey can't turn them away.
Desperate to escape the reminders of his failure in the line of duty, Matt is close to leaving town, But one look at Rachel Carter and her son, Christopher, has him secondguessing his plans, Rachel is a mom in need of a hero for her son, But as much as she wants the two to bond, she's determined to keep her distance from Matt, After losing her husband on the job, she promised never to love another fireman, Yet somehow she finds herself drawn to the one man she should avoid, I really enjoyed this story, Matt Bailey is a firefighter living with constant reminders of the day he failed to save a young girl in a fire, All he wants is the chance to get out of town, until teacher Rachel Carter and her adopted son, Chris, show up, Chris was abandoned at the fire station as a baby and Matt's the one who found him, Rachel hopes that Matt can help Chris, who's struggling after learning he was adopted,
The characters were very well written, I loved how awkward Matt was with children at first, until Rachel started helping him, He's heroic, yet flawed. The struggles that Rachel and Chris have felt so realistic,
This was the first book I've read by this author, and I'll certainly be looking for more of her work, Not a huge fan of the HEA in this too much romance gt career and knight in shining armour for my taste, The epilogue also felt kind of pedantic, with all the stuff about the kid's dealing with the bullies in the right way,
That being said, I enjoyed the rest of the book and I can see how other readers may like this version of an HEA.
My :
Rachel Carter was married to the love of her life, He was a fireman and he was good at his job, But when
