Delve Into Valkyrie: The Vampire Princess 4( Valkyrie: The Vampire Princess, #4) Devised By Pet Torres Released Through Bound Copy
translated book. I had difficulty reading it at times as it didn't make any sense, The story was ok. Perhaps if it were edited correctly, it might have been better, Who knows. Good
Gives a lot of suspense but then gets very confusing, vampires come from a different planet, interesting twist and vampires can have children Hopefully the next book explains it more AprilJust started this book today on the kindle, I cant seem to get into it, The sentences are almost like when you translate something from another language and it comes out all wrong, Young adult fiction. Author is writing in a language not her own and I think it'sfor effort, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK, unless you are looking to laugh your arse off at the horrible syntax and spelling, there is no real story here, it's amazing how many people are willing to lie for the author, . unless the author made a bunch of fake accounts to boost her star rating especially on here and amazon, the fact that the author goes around and says every negative review she gets is 'unhelpful' just shows she's not willing to change or take criticism, so i'm not even going to try : sad stuff.
the author states, in the beginning of her book "Tiger's obsession"
"I do not consider myself a writer I'm just a person trying to express my sensibility and fantasy onto the paper through my writing".
well, it's good she doesn't consider herself a writer, because you can tell just by her writing that she doesn't know what she's doing,
I hate writing bad reviews, but there was just no way around this, If her other books were any better, I would state so in the review, so I had to read a few of them to make sure, and I wish I hadn't.
They were all just as bad, So bad, I'm using the same review for them all : I do love paranormal stuff and the premise of this book sounds somehow interesting, . . But the writing, gosh. I don't really get it, The author is brazilian, right I guess she tried to translate this to english but, seriously, it's badly translated, I speak spanish as first language and I find really hard to express myself in english properly, so I can understand, But getting the story as a published one, . . Err, no. I got the time to check other of her stories and, really, the descriptions/blurbs have no sense at all, I can't even imagine how'd be reading the book,
I'm sorry but nope, If your english isn't that good, better to publish in your mother language or, at least, get a beta reader,
EDIT
The fact that there are sock puppets rating all the author's work witheven the boxed sets and books that are not books but a show off of the multiple images of the author's series makes me almost sick.
I checked and, yes, the same names come over and over again in the ratings and all
of them have all the stuff rated withand barely some other books and not to mention some of them have little to no friends nor any other activity but rating this author books.
It's disgusting. There are, clearly, other ways of promoting your work without misleading readers with ridiculously high ratings, So boring, it wasn't translate well from the oringinal book, Okay, so the description reeled me in, The start, well, what can I really say It was depressing, to be frank, But I realize some books do start like that, So I carried on. To find more bad chapters with little to no sense and on some pages it swaps views yet still sounds as though our leading lady is witnessing it The word 'strange' comes to mind.
All in all, I don't mind it, Probably wouldn't read it again unless desperate, Those who like the book I can see why and I recommend to read it instead of go off my review, so after i was able to fine out that this book was out, was looking to what happened next, . just to have the end, . would have think more would have come out of this book, . . sad. : This is bookvol.in the Valkyrie the vampire Princess Saga

This book was either terribly written or translated extremely badly, The plot was jumping around and often it was unrealistic for the main character to know certain things, It reads like more of a basis or plan for a book than the actual novel that I assume it is meant to be, I won't be reading any more in the series, Story was really good, translation was terrible, Even though some of the book made no sense because of the translation I think I would read the other stories in the series because I would like to know what happens in the story.
I do not like to “diss” authors and writers because Im sure SOMEONE likes what you write, and we all start somewhere, However, I have to admit that I was not fond of this book, At all.
It had a VERY COOL premise, I thought the mythology of Eros and Neptune was really, really cool, creative, fun, awesome, However, in this book it was not developed or fleshed out enough, so I feel like I only got a sliver of the mythology, The idea is very cool, but the execution was not skillful or good at all, The writing is so difficult with so many problems, I cannot continue to read the rest of the books, even if the premise and the main idea of the myths and planets was really interesting.
VAMPIRES IN SPACE!!!! Very cool,
The writing itself made me think that this was the first draft of a very young or inexperienced writernot that it is bad, exactly, but needs a lot of editing, rewriting, revising, attention to detail, and polishing.
By this, I mean that certain things happened plotwise that absolutely did not make sense, Not even as a translation thing I absolutely applaud the author for being multilingual! This was written in her second language or it was translated without a lot of editing, but for example, right when Valkyrie FIRST MEETS this girl, Mirta, Mirta at first acts like a bitch, as Valyrie narrates:
“I stopped looking at her as soon as I noticed she looked at me through the mirror.
Then she turned to face me and said, Hi, my name is MirtaWhat do you think of this school she asked me while she looked me over from head to foot.
It was as if she thought I was not up to her style and fashion standard, ”
This Mirta girl sounds rude, right Well, guess what The become BEST FRIENDS immediately, IN THE SAME SCENE THAT VALKYRIE FEELS JUDGED BY MIRTA WHEN THEY FIRST MEET.
This is literally the next sentence I am not even skipping any words or paragraphs, It continues in the next sentence as follows:
“, . . Ok ” I said what came in my mind,
“Lets be friends” she asked me as she leapt for joy,
“Yes sure!” I responded robotically. I did not know her well enough for us to be friends so fast,
“Fine!” She gave me a strong embrace, while she commemorated our friendships beginning, “I like you!” she confessed looking at my face, “You look sincere. ”
“And I am sincere,” I finally said,
“Me too, I hate falseness, ” We left school together. She talked to me all the time, We had a chat about school and the people in that place, which of our teachers was fine and which was not, what was permitted in our school and who we should trust.
.
I gotta say. WHAT! They just met and we know nothing about Mirta!!!! We dont even know anything about Valkyrie except that her dad left and she has weird dreams!!!!!! A lot of stuff happens like this: very fast with no details and no explanation, and a lot of stuff that just does not make sense that we as readers are expected to simply go with and not question.
The way the narrative forms around these instances and illogical characterinteractions and reactions, it seems that the narrative wants us to believe in the story and accept these things as believable and to not question them as odd, nonsensical, or unexplained.
Also the big reveal of the dude being a vampire, . everyone was pretty blah about it, Val got over it pretty quick, And VERY quickly, she said she couldnt imagine her world without him, It was instalove. Which is fine, if thats your jam, It is not my jam, And a lot of things in this book happen almost instantly,
Other weird things that happen that made me think this is a young person who just needs more experience with writing, editing, and revising and feedback:
“Who are you talking about” I asked, not knowing exactly who she was referring to.
Stuff like this happens on every page, in every scene throughout the story, Every chapter is only a page long, There is a lot of telling instead of showing, and there is a lot of undeveloped or unexplained characterizations and plot points, It reads like a zero draft, which is fine, but again it needs editing and revision to really shine, regardless if it was translated or by a young and inexperienced writer.
Also at the end, there is this big reveal that the narrator figures out and I HAVE NO IDEA how she figured everything and all the strategies and planning stuff out when there were no hints or indications to what actually happened in secret behind her back.
There was no conflict in the story other than a doctor starts chasing her and her vamp bf Eros says hell take her to Neptune, . I have no idea what is going on or why,
I think the author needed to spend some more time writing this, Again, it reads like an outline or a zero draft, but not really a whole novel/novella or complete story,
I am sorry to say I really did not enjoy this, but I think it has a lot of potential if it was developed further and fleshed out more and was edited.
I will not be pursuing the other books in this series or books by this writer, Life is too short to read stuff you do not like, It did give me a good exercise in editing and revision, I also had the opportunity to look for and think about what I do not like in writing/books,
Trigger warning: homophobia and slutshaming,
There is a part where Christina makes fun of Eros and randomly comes up to him and says, “I dont think you like girls!” and that was THE BIG insult/fight and EVERYONE was super upset and unsettled about it.
There is a part where Valkyrie is talking about Mirta, you know, her instabestie, She slutshames her in her inner monologue by describing her outfit:
“I looked at her from top to toe and checked out her clothes, Mirta was wearing a miniskirt, her legs were exposed, Her clothing was like an invitation to any man, including Eros, to travel through them, ”
“dressed to killher beautiful thighs exposed, ”. . ”her clothes are too short!”
Ok, so shes beautiful and wants to dress in pretty things and people get mad at her for it!!!! What!!!!! Characters will compliment how beautiful Mirta is and then judge her for being pretty/wearing tight/revealing clothes or makeup.
Sorry, but I cant stand homophobia and slutshaming for its own sake and being seen as the norm rather than something to be criticized and changed,
ValkyrieThe Vampire Princess
Valkyrie The Vampire Princess was a really good book, I liked the part where Eros told Valkyrie that she has a Vampire Father, I was glad that Valkyrie went with Eros to Neptune to her father, I can't wait to read the rest of the books to this series, Siara Brandon. : When a strange new student transfers to Valkyries school her senior year, she is immediately and strangely drawn to him, It is more than just physical attraction, It is something else. She just cant put her finger on it,
I found the story a bit ridiculous, Valkyrie, who is telling the story, keeps describing what Eros is hearing, thinking, and feeling, as if she is in his head, Even when she is unconscious, she continues to tell the story, The story takes a weird turn, when Eros appears out of nowhere, takes Valkyrie to an abandoned house, transforms into a vampire, reveals his purpose and Valkyries true identity, then tells her he is taking her to become a vampire.
Adding further to the ridiculousness, Valkyrie responds with, “okay, ” Really I would have hauled ass, Then, immediately after this confession, the symbol of Neptune magically appears on Valkyrie, The author makes Valkyrie seem like a lunatic with her deciding to attempt suicide only to return to school the next day as if nothing happened, A vampire from Neptune Really This is crazyreaching, to say the least, The writing was lazy as Valkyries mom is placed into a deep sleep until Valkyries return from Neptune, Really So how does she eat and use the restroom, which is vital to keep the human body from wasting I was also surprised to finally find out what Valkyrie looked like atinto the book.
This book was full of grammatical errors, misspellings, and senseless phrases, The editor and/or translator needs to be fired, On the bright side, Eros was mysterious, hilarious, and very likeable, He was my favorite character, At one point in the book, I laughed aboutminutes at Eros, Towards the end, the story seemed to change from scifi to a comedy, I was intrigued enough to continue reading, I am optimistic.
