Enjoy Shedding Light On The Dark Side: Defeating The Forces Of Evil (a Guide For Youth And Young Adults) Compiled By Stephen Stirling Contained In Copy
Stirling worked a miracle by balancing a dark subject with a lightheartedeven playfultone, It's worth the read just for that,
But there is more going on, Since getting called into the high priests group leadership four weeks ago, I think I have come back to this book about eight times, to see what he had to say on some subjects I am wresting with in the new calling.
Along with “Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith,” and Truman Madsen's “Eternal Man,” it ranks up with my top three nonscriptural books.
In fact, I'll go so far to say that I would rather have you read Bro, Stirling's book over my own book, “sitelinkConsider My Servant Job: Lessons in Faith, Humility, and the Atonement", Stephen J. Stirling's book, Shedding Light on the Dark Side, exposes the identity and nature of the Adversary in a relatively short guide aimed at youth and young members of the Church, though it's a good refresher for adults too.
The text is written in an easytoread style, complete with a little light humour from the author, The thrust of this guide is simple yet important: Satan is real, but so is the Saviour we need to choose the Lord and reject the Deceiver.
For me, the most poignant message in this book is the need for us to recognise that dark feelings and negative thoughts have their source in the devil, that they have a very real effect upon us, individually and as a society, and that we must turn to the Lord to vanquish them.
Shedding Light on the Dark Side is a quick, compelling, and educational read, The cover of the book says, "A Guide for Youth and Young Adults," but a more accurate description would be, "A Guide for Youth and Young Adults, and MiddleAged Adults, and Everyone Else.
" In his book, Stephen J, Stirling explores the devil's weaknesses, exposing him for the powerless fool that he is, In doing so Stirling empowers readers, young and old, to face, fight, and overcome temptation
by focusing on the lightnot the darknessin this world.
Whenever you're engaged in battle, it's always good to know the enemy so you can figure out what strategy to use to defeat them.
This book is packed with scriptures and quotes from General Authorities, past and present, I highlighted so many sections so I can go back and reference them as I need to, The main point I felt the author tried to get across is that Satan is, indeed, real and his objective is to destroy the world by taking us down individually.
Because of choices he made, he's miserable and wants us to feel the same,
This book is not all doom and gloom, though, There is a winning formula and it is outlined in this book, There are things we can do here and now to win the battle, We each have our agency and are able to choose for ourselves who we will follow, This book says it's a guide for Youth and Young Adults, but I still learned plenty and it's a great resource to use in the future.
I highly recommend this book to Youth, Young Adults and Adults!
sitelinkMel's Shelves This was a great book that makes you ponder how real the dark side is and how to overcome it by staying in the light.
sitelink blogspot. c I enjoyed the simple way that the book outlines the nature of Satan without glorifying him, It was doctrinally rich yet personal, The style made it easy to read even though the subject matter was sometimes very dense, I enjoyed it and recommended it to my children,
Steve has a way of writing that makes a difficult topic easy to understand, I recommend a highlighter if you read it, I knew him personally and he was always a great storyteller as well as kind and warm, And I loved his book so much, The master of deceit is about to be revealed, Satan, the Prince of Darkness, cannot maintain his disguise when he faces the light and truth of the Prince of Peace.
Shedding Light on the Dark Side will help youth understand the Adversary and his tactics so,
