Read Online Strictly Professional Compiled By Christina C. Jones Displayed In Digital
Winner! I love this story, I love how CCJ always given us a refreshing story about all aspects of life, It was so good to see Gabi's spitfire nature, I beamed with pride when she didn't allow Michael to bully her, I wished she had an opportunity to really get at her parents, I LOVE Terrence's supportive and protective nature with both Terrean amp Gabi, I love the slow progression of the inevitable growing relationship between Gabi amp Terrence, I Loved the relationship between her amp Uncle Bobby, I knew Uncle Bobby amp Vanessa had something going on, that was cute to me, This was a really good story and I can't wait until next month when bookis released, Of course, the narration was OUTSTANDING!! Strictly Professional is super cute,
An office romance that takes its time and is enjoyable to read,
There were a few nitpicky things that annoyed me such as "releasing the breath I didn't realise I was holding", weird bits of dialogue and
But even with those things, I liked the characters, I liked the setting and I liked the idea.
Good book I'm making my way through Christina's catalogue and I've read nearlyof her books, Her new stuff has definitely greatly improved on this, This book felt much more dramatic than some of the things I've read recently and while I enjoyed the chemistry between Terrance and Gabi, her family was a lot.
I get it, this happens but I wanted more of the love story, It felt super rushed at the end, If Goodreads had half, I'd say this is more a,but I can't give it alol, Not when her newer stuff is so much better NICE READ!!
NICE, heartfelt story, Not as good as the usual CCJ, as it seemed somewhat formulaic, but it was saved by likable characters, even though they were dumb as hell!!
Well worth the cost.
./love a good office romance but the parents and ex boyfriend were waaaaay too much for me “Strictly Professional” is just a refreshing read, Christina C. Jones style is clean and to the point, She expresses wit, intelligence and familiarity with pop culture, Jones was easily able to have me forget about her voice, or her pen, and give way to the characters essence, solely, I felt like Gabi and Terrence were friends of mineuntil I was ready for Terrance to make yet another move on meI mean on Gabi!
Terrance was sexy and smooth.
Gabi was feisty, smart, and showed vulnerability at just the right moments, making her soft and pink,
I swallowed this book whole! Once I read the last word, I went straight to Amazon to download the sequel,
Well done, Christina C, Jones!
A rounded.starsDefinitely not a favorite CCJ book of mine, Compared to the fire Im used to from her, this story didnt deliver, Dont get me wrong it was an ok book but there was nothing that stood out or made it a memorable read, There were a few unnecessary characters in the story like her trash parents and the overall “plot” didnt deliver, The story seemed to have drug out to the very end, No wow factor at all, Im glad Ive read enough of Christinas books to know that this was out of character for her, Thankfully I had Wesleigh and Jakobi to get me through it because if I had read it, I probably wouldnt have finished it, Lets see if partcan pull up the rear, This was a really fun and quick story about two lawyers working together, I really loved their first encounter and how Gabi realized that Michael was her new mentor at work, Gabi is also dealing with overbearing parents and an overbearing ex, If you want a one night moment at a bar turned to something more, you should read this one! first and foremost let me say i enjoyed the book! i love the severely underrated workplace romance trope and combined with a little forbidden love, i found this work to be very entertaining! gabi amp terrances love story isrocky to say the least.
i mean, what would you do if you accidentally make out with your boss BEFORE you know hes your boss me personally, im transferring states but gabi has already done enough moving trying to escape her loser ex and controlling parents.
yes its awkward, but she and terrence vow to keep it “strictly professional!”
if youre a fastpace lover, this is definitely the book for you, theres not even smoke before the flame and thats exactly what i needed coming out of a long slump, because of the pace, theres a lot of miscommunication and repetition to keep the story going, but nothing i find entirely unnecessary, wellexcept for redacted, but i can live with that because my people still got their happy ending,s!
Gabi and Terrence's story was very sweet, I was engrossed, watching them fall for each other while trying desperately to fight their feelings, Especially Terrence with his fine self!, Looking forward to Part. CCJ knows that she can write a damn book! This is one of her older books, but trust me when I say it doesn't make a difference.
This is a work place romance, but I think that it sets itself apart from other workplace romances because of the character development, CW: physical abuse
I ramdomly decided to pick up Strictly Professional because it was available through Hoopla at my library, It was recently added and this was a particularly series by CCJ that I had not heard many people discuss, It focuses on two characters: Gabi and Terrance, Gabi moved to ATL to get away from her ex and parents to begin her career at a law firm, She makes the decision to go out one night with a friend and ends up meeting Terrance, The two share a kiss and believe that they won't come into contact again until they realize that they would be working at the same firm, It was amazing watching these two continuously fight their feelings for each because of their job, Keep in mind there was no fraternization policy so they weren't keeping it a secret from other employees however, it is clear that the two don't want it to interfere with their goals and ambitions.
Gabi and Terrance had chemistry and even when they spent page after page denying it, it's easy to feel it as a reader, Any person that knows me as a reader, knows that romance for me is all about the chemistry, I like for authors to make me feel like I should be rooting for these individuals to fall in love even when they're blind to it, CCJ captured those feelings perfectly with these two characters, There was also extremely strong character development especially in regard to Gabi, There were some toxic relationships that Gabi fought to get control of the entirety of this book particularly her ex and her parents, While I expected Michael to be completely unlikeable, I didn't expect the same for her parents, They made her life a living nightmare and saw her as no more than cattle that needed to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, As a reader, I was shocked at some of the conversations that Gabi had with her mother in particular, but I respected Gabi for her strength to stand up to them.
She kept going to achieve her dream regardless of how her parents felt, I admired her even more for the strength it took to walk away from her ex Michael, He showed no respect to her, but expected her to be willing to deal with him and rearrange her life's dreams and goals to cater to him, I know quite a few people in my personal life who have been willing to deal with nonsense similar to that of Michael in order to maintain a comfortable lifestyle.
Gabi refused to let that be a deterrent in her life, While Gabi felt a little more easy going, Terrance was a little more uptight, He was solely focused on his career and did not want any relationship to stand in the way of possibly making partner, Gabi melted that hardness about Terrance away and I'm glad that he allowed her to do so, It brought out a more fun and engaging side to him from the perspective of the reader,
This book isn'tpercent slow burn like some other romance novels I've read however, it is slow enough that readers really truly get to see the romance develop between Gabi and Terrance.
Nothing felt rushed. It felt so natural and readers can't help but root for them the entire way, With that being said, I definitely see myself becoming more and more obsessed with CCJ writing style, There is something about it that beautifully captures the emotions of her main characters, The pacing is always great with just enough action to make the romance more engaging, This book definitely did not disappoint and I'm looking forward to reading even more by CCJ,
I love this series!
This is one of CCJs series that I have read over and over again, I love the characters, the storyline and the realness, Christina C Jones can do absolutely NO wrong, My cousin told me she was reading some of her Earlier stuff and you could tell that it was some of her earlier stuff, But Christina's Earlier
stuff is JUST as good as her most recent books, Two sexy black lawyers, a 'forbidden' office romance, miscommunication and unrequited feelings, What MORE could you ask for,
Gabi and Terrance were frustrating to read about but their story was too interesting and juicy to put down, Love that is fought for is always the most rewarding! Great Read!!!!
Gabi and Terrence meet for the first time at a bar not knowing that they would be working together.
You could feel the chemistry between the both of them immediately, They didn't want to act on it because of their work situation, Gabi and Terrence both had some issues to work through, I thought this was a great book and looking forward to seeing what happens next, CCJ never disappoints! Loved Terrence and Gabi, I wish Gabby would've cut her family off sooner, but we all have to go through our own processes, so I get it!
Oh and Uncle Bobby almost stole the show with that little scene Gabi and Terrence got an eye full of! LMAO! I loved, loved, loved Strictly Professional but, I disliked damn near every character in this book.
Gabi, Terrence, Tarryn, and Regina tapped dance on my last nerve, The females played games with the men and Terrence acted like a female, He stayed in his feelings behind Gabi, Whew chile, the dramatics! When Gabi wasn't being hot and cold and Terrence stopped acting like a girl, I actually liked them as a couple, I thought they had great chemistry and their instant attraction to each other was believable, I just wish they didn't spendof the book going back and forth on whether or not they should be together, Gabi and Terrence were so exhausting at times, I wanted them to forgo the relationship and just be coworkers, It should not have taken that long for them to finally come together romantically, And, I have no words to describe Gabi's parents, They were the worst! Who raised them!!! Michael was a borderline stalker and her mama and daddy encouraged his behavior just so she would marry a doctor, Again, who raised these people!!! Then, come to find out, Gabi and Terrence are already broken up in book two! I'm so not looking forward to reading Unfinished Business.
I mean, I'ma read it, I'm just not looking forward to it, While I was not a fan of the characters in this book, Strictly Professional was still very good and I would definitely recommend it, Strictly Professional was a great read for me, I finished it quickly because the writing was smooth and effortless, and the characters immediately engaging and likable, This was not a shockandawe romance, it was a slice of two lives, intersectingthe right man, the right woman, at the right time,
Gabi's got a problem, She has an ambition to pursue a career as a lawyer and her parents and exboyfriend believe she should instead become a trophy wife, Desperate to escape them, she moves to Atlanta, determined to become independent and selfdetermining, On one of her first nights in her new home, she goes out with her roommate and meets Terrence, Their attraction is instantaneous and intense, and but for said roommate, that first meeting would have more likely than not resulted in more than one interrupted kiss,
Terrence is, like Gabi, very careerfocused and not at all interested in a relationship and though he finds this new woman he met during a night out with his best friend interesting, he's not on the market for anything smelling like permanence.
And so he doesn't call, But as Fate would have it, Terrence and Gabi are destined not only to meet again, but to be forced to work closely together, Very, very closely.
I loved this writer's attention to the slow progression of a relationship from attraction, to admiration and respect, to friendship and finally to love, She detailed the little moments that make a couple a couple so well that I found myself yelling, "Kiss her, dammit!" or "Tell him you like him!" even as I delighted in the fact that their inability to do so was exactly like real life.
The stories, moments and experiences that Gabi and Terrence shared were spoton for how relationships happen, and I LOVED every moment, You could tell as you read their story that this writer was more interested in the "relationship" than the 'sparks' or 'passion', No gratuitous sex, no raunchy encounters, just a man and woman, drawing ever closer to each other, fighting it every inch of the way,
What made this a fourstar rather than fivestar read for me was the portrayal of Gabi's parents and exboyfriend, Michael, These were three people who among them did not have ONE SINGLE redeeming quality, All of them were very plainly bad people, And my problem was that I don't believe there are any people who are that completely irredeemable, Particularly Gabi's parents who seemed willing to trade their daughter's happiness and even personal safety for status and appearances, I would have liked to see some indication that they were all more than a means to provide the obstacle to Gabi and Terrence's relationship, Where this author was incredibly successful with the two main characters, she lost steam with some of the secondaries,
I say some, because Gabi and Terrence's friends were all very welldefined and had distinct personalities that make you want to know them better.
Only the villains were thinlydrawn, Clearly this writer has the talent to pull off multidimensional characters, so I would have loved to see it in the people we don't root for as much as we saw it in the people we did root for.
At the end of the day, however, I did enjoy this book and was intrigued by the teaser at the end for the followup to Strictly Professional, which offers tantalizing clues about where Terrence and Gabi end up.
I'll be looking out for it for sure, and you should too, but first, read this one,
