on The Devil and the Deep Blue Spy (Nora Baron, #4)

Devil and the Deep Blue Spy is a lighthearted, quick, cozy type mystery, CIA style, Its the fourth book in a series and follows a middle aged, happily married couple on their escapades as a spy team, The husband, Jeff, is a professional CIA agent and the wife, Nora, is a former actor and high school acting teacher who has haphazardly found her way into spy work by assisting her husband on occasional assignments.
In this particular episode, the couple is given the opportunity to take a Caribbean cruise in hopes of observing and assessing a particular Frenchman and his wife who have peaked the interest of the government agency.
Along the way, Nora finds herself separated from her husband and confronted by an international terrorist appropriately named, Diablo, Nora is on her own with only her wiles to outsmart the devil himself while her partner is on the cruise ship in the deep, blue sea.

This story is a bit silly and unrealistic, but also fastpaced, It does have charming characters and lush descriptions of the environment, but sadly, in my case, it just wasnt enough and couldnt keep my attention.
For others it may very well provide an easy crime story for those who enjoy the thrill, but prefer their mysteries less graphic and dark, but for me, I found it less engaging than Id like.
Another fun read. Not quite a cozy mystery, nor a typical spynovel, and not quite a thriller but a fun hybrid, A happy married, middleaged, middleclass husband and wife go undercover for the CIA, posing as second honeymooners on a luxury Caribbean cruise, Why Because they don't look like spies and there was a murder and possibly money laundering involved,

This author is unknown to me but I'll be looking for his other books,
Thank you to the publisher and Netgally for an advance reader's copy of this book, A pleasant read in one of my favorite genres, mystery / suspense

I haven't read the earlier books in the series, so I don't know how this latest title compares, but by this stage of the plot line, the husband and wife team are working well together with a comfortable support team.

I had to put the book down when life interfered, and somehow I just couldn't get myself to pick it back up, So my opinion is less of an informed one than I like to share, I am confident, however, that as Ranganathan said, "Every book has its reader, " Someone will find this the perfect read! Thanks to Netgalley and Random House for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review,

This is a fun thriller and fast read, Nora and her husband sometimes work for the CIA, This assignment takes the couple to the Carribean, It starts out as an easy job, They are to find a man and his wife and follow them because they are suspected of money laundering, The trouble starts when the couple split up and Nora disembarks to follow the woman, Unfortunately, it is a trap and a worldwide terrorist is on the island waiting for her, Not the plan at all! The chase begins and it is truly a thriller as described, The characters are well developed and the settings are wonderful, The actual story was good and for a "light" read it also has some pretty heavy parts, I would definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy thrillers but not gory heavy kind,
I do wish I had started with the first in this series, I think the history and development of them as a couple would have been fun, Thanks to Netgalley and Random House for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review,

.rounded up.

I loved Tom Savage's books in the's Valentine and Scavenger were awesome, He didn't publish anything for years and then returned a few years ago, with this Nora Baron series, I picked up the first one and thought it was okay but didn't have any desire to carry on with the series, I requested this one because I saw that it was taking place in the Caribbean, specifically Martinique which I have been actively researching for a trip.
I thought his descriptions of the islands were great and you can tell he has spent time in these places and that authenticity adds to my enjoyment of the book.
As for the story, it was just okay for me, Nora is an actress and her husband Jeff is in the CIA, They are needed on a cruise ship to follow a rich French business man who is suspected of moving a lot of money offshore, because they suspect he will be meeting with an associate and this will help them understand where he is moving the money.
It all started out pretty well but even though it was a short book and a pretty quick read, for some reason it started to

drag for me toward the end when they were on the small island off of Martinique.
Also, I thought they had an awful lot of good luck at the end and it didn't seem that realistic to me, This probably would have been aif not for the Martinique setting, It is a treat to read a mystery set in the Caribbean since there are so few out there, I may pick up the previous Nora Baron novel where she has a job in Venice because at least I know I will enjoy the scenery.
I enjoyed this fastpaced mystery, It was a quick read, Character development was a little lax and is dependant on being familiar with the previous books in the series, I am going to check out the other books in the series, Nora is a middle aged acting professor who helps her CIA husband on missions, For someone not trained, she apparently has skills like shes been trained to be a spy, . . its all a bit unbelievable, It was easy to figure out most of the plot well before it was revealed but the writing just didnt grab my attention, The book was fine enough but not one Id actively recommend, The Devil And The Deep Blue Spy by Tom Savage reads as a spy novel set in the Caribbean, It doesnt have the over the top action that so often leaves the reader exhausted by the end of the book, It does take us along with Nora Baron, a wife and drama teacher, and her CIA agent husband on an unexpected adventure on a Caribbean cruise.
The author does a fantastic job of interweaving the development of the characters and some interesting plot twists into a story that keeps the readers engaged and guessing to the end.
The story is wellplotted and moves at a good pace, This is the fourth book in the Nora Baron series, Im going to read the first three books soon, Thank you to Net Galley and Random House Publishing GroupAlibi for an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my honest review, Thanks to Netgalley and Random House for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review,

I enjoyed this simple cozy mystery, Set mostly in the Caribbean, the story follows a couple who work for the CIA through an adventure following a suspected money launderer / terror sponsor on a cruise where he is expected to meet a contact.
. When murder attempts are made against several of the suspects, the plot changes and we discover who the real villians of the book are,

A fun read, some surprises kept it from being too predictable, A typical middleaged couple on a firstclass Caribbean cruise: Thats what the CIA needs for its latest mission, and husbandandwife agents Jeff and Nora Baron leap at the chance.
All they have to do is observe and report on fellow passenger Claude Lamonta shady French businessman whos attracted the Companys interestand his mysterious wife, Carmen.
Its an easy assignment until a shopping trip at a port of call turns deadly, and Nora and her husband are forced to split up,

After Carmen abruptly disembarks, Nora follows her to Martinique while Jeff remains on board with Claude, But the beautiful French island holds a shocking secret, One American agent has already vanished from the area, and Nora soon learns why, A shadowy international terrorist known only as Diablo has come to the islands for a sinister purpose, With Jeff out of contact, Nora investigates on her own, But Diablo is waiting for her, and now Nora Baron is trapped between the Devil and the deep blue sea, I enjoyed reading this book, I like the character, Nora Barton, She is a CIA agent who knows she has a job to do, but she still is sensitive to others, has an active conscience, and relies more on instinct and intelligence than on violence and guns.

The story is intricately plotted, the setting is exotic, and the action is tense and exciting, In the end, we have met some interesting characters, and most of the bad guys have been dealt with, But not all of them, The author has left us with something to look forward to,

My thanks to author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing an advance copy to read and review, "The Devil and the Deep Blue Spy" eBook was published inand was written by Tom Savage sitelink com. Mr. Savage has publishednovels. This is the fourth in his “Nora Baron thriller” series,

I received an ARC of this novel through sitelink netgalley. com in return for a fair and honest review, I categorize this novel as R because it contains scenes of Violence, This continues the story of Nora Baron who has joined her husband at the CIA,

This story is about their first mission together, A person of interest, Frenchman Claude Lamont, is taking a Caribbean cruise with his second wife, Nora and her husband are asked to join the cruise and keep an eye on Lamont, Lamont is thought to be funneling large sums of money to terrorists, The CIA thinks he will be making contact with someone on the cruise and the Barons are there to find out who,

I thoroughly enjoyed the, hours I spent reading thispage mystery/thriller, This is not an actionfilled thriller, but more of a mystery, The plot takes a few twists and turns to end up in a different place than you first might expect, I have now read three of the four “The Woman Who Knew Too Much” amp “The Spy Who Never Was” earlier Nora Baron novels and have enjoyed them all.
If you like a good mystery/thriller without a lot of violence, then you will enjoy these novels, I give this novel a,rounded down to aout of,
