Experience Tales Of A Hollywood Housewife Expressed By Betty Marvin Available In Readable Copy

absolutely loved this book, Betty was so open about her life, I found her to be loveable and relatable, I burst into tears when she lost it all, She was a fighter and dtermined to make it on her own, What an inspirational story! A must read, insightful

It is unusual for the focus to be on the person behind the star.
You read stories all of the time about the life and loves of the movie star, but not about the heartache of the people left behind.
I really enjoyed this book, I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did, An amazing story of a remarkable, intelligent woman, . . Good read

Interesting, fluid and honest, It was a quick enjoyable read, I learned some interesting tidbits about celebrities but not in a gossipy way, Good book. An interesting albeit realistically recollection of the trials and tribulations of a life influenced by stardom even if by association.

My girlfriend suggested this book as our next read and I accepted out of curiosity.
The book was interesting, touching and often tugged at my heartstrings, I was impressed by Mrs, Martin's continued consideration for her love of Lee Marvin, I also felt a sense as much as one could feel this without having been present of what Mr.
Marvin might have been likeand

I was particularly impressed that she represented him in a reasonable light wherever possible.
Her continued courage throughout her adventure of life was commendable, A satisfying read, with enough detail to paint a worthwhile picture,
Interesting lady and interesting book, I thoroughly enjoyed the read and really didn't expect to, Thx Betty for letting me into your life, You've got an awesome story to tell, This was a very good book it kept my attention and wanted me to keep reading it, I knew it had me when I was sad I couldn't read more because I just didn't have time or couldn't keep my eyes open.
I was happy that the author was not gratuitous or dramatic but quite matter of fact in telling her story she didn't want people to feel bad/ pity her or patronize her.
She grew into a wonderfully resilient and courageously independent woman, I found myself cheering her on as I read what she was going through and I was continually hoping there would be a happy ending for her.
I do recommend the book for those who love biographies and memoirs, Wow

I love this woman ,great writer great story, never knew how big treat their women ,a lot like my life hope to turn out like Betty, she would just reinvent herself secret to staying alive This was a unique look at that era of Hollywood and another side of gruff but great actor Lee Marvin.
His onetime wife Betty recalls their years together and then how it went bad, and how she picked herself back up and moved on.
I couldn't put this book down

This is the second time I read this book, it was a good book, all about her life , dad that Lee Marvin had to be like that, Betty made a life for herself This book moved right along.
I enjoyed reading this first hand account with Pictures of a life in Hollywood that is now gone.

I remembered her husband because it was the first Palimony trail ever,
Plus she was Joan Crawford's nanny for two years, . . Mommy Dearest is true. A Fascinating Read

Betty went from rags to riches to rags and bouts of homelessness married to and then divorced from Hollywood heavy hitter Lee Marvin.
Screwed over in the divorce Betty Marvin reinvented herself many times over, always landing on her feet, Lee took her independence and for awhile turned Betty into a stepford wife until his certifiably crazy mistress Michele became the straw that broke the camels back.
The term " palimony "was coined for women when unmarried to Lee she legally changed her last name to Marvin and hauled the tough guy into court, demanding half I of what he earned while they had lived together.
If I remember she lost her case and went on to have a long relationship with Dick Van Dyke which lasted until her death.
Betty found her independence in divorcing Lee, After her children had grown Betty moved to Paris for a spell and became a painter, For many years she lived with her good friend Robert Taylor who by then had become a has been Hollywood agent.
I read this all in one sitting, I love books about Hollywood and celebrities, This book was interesting and I suppose everyone fantasizes about being a Hollywood star or being married to one.
After this book, I don't think being married to a famous actor seems very appealing, But what an interesting and diverse life she had! Betty Marvin must have a marvelous memory, or maybe she kept a journal, but whatever the method was, it was quite a ride! Very interesting.
Amazing !!!!

I really didn't think I
i

I really didn't expect to be so drawn into Betty's world so quickly, she really puts it out there and let's you into every aspect of her and Lee's life and how she always picked herself up after each let down and how hard it was for her to finally make that decision to leave Lee and afterwards to be independent from him and to prove a life of her own accomplishments despite all the hardships, all and all a great read.

a really engaging and witty memoir! curious about her marriage to Lee Marvin, one of my favorite actors, I came away with an appreciation for Betty, so much more than just his first wife.
she was too good for him anyway, some of the writing was a little clunky, but she had a strong narrative voice and it was so easy to see her world.
it was interesting long before Lee even showed up, I'm the publicist for Betty's bookA Memoir by THE First Mrs, Lee Marvin.
