on Claude on the Slopes

is a wonderfully illustrated and cleverly told story for children, And for those capable of getting all the jokes and understanding all the nuances, this book is helpful in teaching reading skills.
But as a reading teacher of ESL students trying to learn to read in a second language, this book, though it is the kind of book I would need to use to teach critical reading skills, has too much nonsensical humor in the book that would prove frustrating and confusing.
The fact that one of the main characters is a somehowintelligent sock will make it almost impossible for those kids to interpret the meaning of the text and illustrations.
First and second graders not reading at or above grade level would also struggle for the same reasons, I can strongly recommend this book, but to teach reading skills, it needs to be used with independent readers, Filled with chuckles and clueless owners, Mr. and Mrs. Shinyshoes are the funniest owners ever! A quick read for children who love dogs or more specially love Claude, My daughter and I both enjoyed this, I received a copy of this via the publisher in exchange for an honest review,

Claude on the Slopes is a picture book about a adorable dog named Claude and his best friend Sir Bobblysock.
The two go through an assortment of hijinks during thepages of the book, The entire book is set around Claude and Bobblysock's first encounter with snow, Claude has a clear issue with knowing the difference between an indoor voice and an outdoor voice he takes his one man band outfit to the library!, so the book is an opportunity to learn both about snow and being quiet when appropriate.

The language in Claude is flowery and uses words that you may have to explain to your children however, I enjoy a children's book that takes these opportunities to teach young children bigger words for their vocabulary.
The illustrations are wonderful, and the art is set in only tones of red, gray, white, and black, which made it clean and whimsical.

It's hard to tell which of us my children or I enjoyed this book more, My five year old was able to grasp the general concepts of the book and got a kick out of the loud yelling causing an avalanche.
She said her favorite part of the book was when they rolled down the mountain in a snowball and when the dog kept all his stuff in his beret.
She enjoyed the sillier parts of the book like the one man band and the sock wearing earmuffs, After we finished and yes, she was able to sit through allpages in one sitting, she quickly asked for more Claude and Bobblysock.

Overall, this is a series I recommend having on your shelves, I know we are looking forward to collecting more of the quirky puppy and his side kick sock,

This was absolutely hilarious, My favorite Claude yet. It made me laugh out loud a few times, I also picked up a few new British terms since I'm reading the British version it is sledging instead of sledding.
Lots of wintry fun. I LOVE CLAUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm completely delighted by this series, It's like a mix between Amelia Bedelia, Mary Poppins, and Bad Kitty, Funny, clever, silly, and smart, Really enjoyable. I have read a lot of much better kid's books recently, particularly anything by Chris Riddell, This one deals in a beret wearing dog who keeps all manner of things, including tea trays under it as well as having a best friend who is.
. . a sock.

Meh. I really liked Claude and his best friend Sir Bobblysock who is, in fact, a sock, He is a cute and fun little guy, but he doesnt always know how to behave properly, In this book, he learns lots of stuff using our inside and outside voices, especially in a library and out near snow covered mountains, plus some other snow safety and he learns it all in a fun way.
It was very cute.

The class: I have been working with them on sitting through longer books, I know, pages seems a little long, but a lot of it is pictures its a chapter book for the little ones who are just starting out with reading.
The kids had a lot of fun with this book and it was funny watching them whisper in the book center afterwards because thats how youre supposed to act in a library and to see them add the snow safety they learned into their dramatic play.
I had several ask me to open my computer up so they could look at it again,

Favorite line: “Well, of course Claude had a tea tray he could use, He always kept one in his beret with a full tea set just in case there was a teabased emergency.
” And who HASNT had a “teabased emergency” at least some time in their lives :
Let's Hit the Slopes

Claude has a certain wideeyed innocent appeal without being foolish or simple.
He is adventurous and alert, He is brave and resourceful, There is a touch of "the innocent abroad", but he is not a bumbling character, He usually starts each new adventure as an inexperienced amateur, but then he always learns a lot before heading home for a bit of a rest.

In this volume Claude is feeling "boisterous", even after his previous day's noisy adventure at the library, so he and his best friend Sir Bobblysock are off to the ski slopes.
They have a number of gentle, amusing adventures that involve snowball fights, sledding on tea trays, building a snow man, learning to ski, and being introduced to avalanches and mountain rescue.

Between the drawings, which are charming and expressive, and the narration, which is clear but not patronizing, you get a story that is engaging and fun.
There are lots of bits scattered throughout the illustrations, so there is more of interest than just the story itself.
There are also a few subtle little jokes for the parents at the expense of certain ski slope "types",

For a kid's general interest picture/story book what I want is a friendly looking hero, a story that moves along but makes sense, illustrations that are clear, and a cheerful overall vibe.
There are other books that are edgier or maybe more audacious, but for a solid appealing read those basic elements seem to describe a successful book, and to describe this book.

This book is a mellow little diversion with honest appeal, And sometimes that's just what you want, A nice little find and definitely worth a look,

Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book, I liked sitelinkClaude in the Country better, though this one was still fun and entertaining, Though, I was a bit bothered by the fact that Cute! Cute! Cute! Claude sees snow for the first time ever and he just has to play, What is better than a dog snowtubing/boarding/skiing on a tea tray, So cute! Kids will love this book, CBZ book review forClaude On The Slopes

Claude on the Slopes is filled with adventure, Claude is funfilled book chocked full of fun, innocence and adventure, Claude and his best friend Sir Bobbysock go on a vacation, Claude likes to experience life and trouble seems to find them both, They get into all sorts of escapades, They enter a snowman building contest, Soon they learn to ski, they have a snowball battle, They even get involved in hairraising an avalanche and mountain rescue too, The illustrations are fantastic. And Kids will love the antics of Claude and Sir Bobbysocks! Filled with wit and humor, making both kids and adults laugh along the way.
I adore these books, I truly do, The witty, warm illustrations coupled with a mischievous dog and his best friend Sir Bobblysock combine to make beautiful books.
Claude on the Slopes is no exception,

I love the round richness of the illustrations, I love that people have breasts and bellies, I love that the library has a book called "Peter Pan's People", I love that Sidney Snood and his fabulous moustache exists, I love that Claude and Sir Bobblysock are back from their adventure before the grown ups get back in from work.
I love the illustrations I would buy a print of every single page and I love how I am overusing the word love in this review and I love that I don't care!

There is a part of me that wants these books to be mandatory, to have them given out to everyone and sung out about on street corners by people using their OUTDOOR VOICES.
There is such joy inherent in each and every page, Claude is perfection and perfection is Claude, There's really very little else to say,
What a barrel of laughs! Claude and his brat friend, Sir Bobblesock get up to loads of adventures in the snow.
I love how Claude pulls all sort of weird and wonderful things from his beret, similar to Mary Poppins and her carpet bag.
Cant wait to share this series with the lower primary students, This review originally printed in sitelinkLooking For a Good Book, Rated.

One thing we know about a book series is that it is very, very hard to maintain consistency in what works, while providing new content.
Yesterday I wrote about Claude at the Beach, which I view as a modern classic,  Parents will be reading it to their children for many years to come,  But just as with other, older series' children's books think the Curious George series, there are those titles that just don't hit make a hit.
If Claude at the Beach is a homerun, Claude on the Slopes is a bunt,

It's still the same, cute little dog, but he seems much more selfaware and even selfconfident, beginning his adventure by shouting "Oooh!  Aren't you handsome" while looking in a mirror.
It seems to go downhill pun intended from there,  Claude joins a snowball fight,  Getting overly excited, he throws a boot, hitting a child in the head with it thankfully, he apologizes,  Later, after being told to keep quiet by a ski rescue worker, Claude apologizes in what is almost an insincere manner:

Claude dragged his foot around in circles and said, "Sorry.
"

Then Claude told Sidney Snood how nice he thought his mustache was,

This seemed to stop Sidney Snood from being angry, and he smiled a big smile,

this passage to the drawing of Claude batting his eyes, and we have a 'tryingtogetoutoftrouble' apology, rather than a sincere one.

Claude's loud voice creates an avalanche which topples Sidney Snood and covers Mr, Bobblysock, and it's Claude who comes to their rescue, having learned from Mr, Snood, just how to dig a person out of the snow,

It's cute, and it's often nice to have a different adventure of a familiar, muchloved character lying around for something a little different at bedtime reading, but the story feels forced, as though author Alex T.
Smith couldn't quite come up with the right ingredients to fill thepages, and Claude seems just a little too troublesome, rather than adorable.

Looking for a good book  If you're a Claude and Mr, Bobblysocks fan, you'll want this for your collection,  If you are looking for a new children's book, go get Claude at the Beach instead, Son loved it, which is the target audience I suppose, I've read plenty kids books I liked better, I love Claude. Violet does too. And Sir Bobblysock makes us both giggle, And also as always, the illustrations are perfect!
