is my favorite so far of the Bookmobile Cat series, The heroine has catastrophes instead of her usual challenges, The peril at the end is especially terrifying,
The Bookmobile Cat mysteries are my second favorite cozy mystery series, Favorite is the Joe Grey series by Shirley Rousseau Murphy, . What makes a great cozy mystery A brave, smart, and kind heroine, Wonderful friends. Interesting and strange acquaintances. A knack for characterization. Evocative writing. A twisty plot. And a cat.
The Bookmobile Cat mysteries have all of these, The heroine, Minnie, is always optimistic, When something happens to make her sad or grouchy, she takes action to feel better, If she cant think of a solution to her troubles, she takes a walk, confides in friends, or finds something to make her laugh.
People like her. Eddie, her cat, is perfectly catlike, with no supernatural powers I admit I do like cats that talk or do magic.
. He provides most of the comic relief, Minnies conversations with Eddie in which Eddie always replies “Mrr” are great, Most people like Minnie but everyone loves Eddie,

I received this book for free from Obsidian in exchange for an honest review, This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review,
Unlike a lot of cozy mysteries where investigating the murder takes center stage, and the characters life temporarily seems to take a back seat, it was the other way around in this book.
Minnie fits in her investigations between running the library's bookmobile, getting ready for their firstever book fair, and hanging out with her friends.
She spends a lot of time talking to her cat, and interpreting his responses or lack thereof.
Which for me, was believable since I talk to my own cat all the time, That said, it seemed like Minnie spent more time talking to her cat than she did humans, Eddie was a typical cat, with no super powers, and he behaved exactly how I expected a cat to in most situations.
She seems to pick up new friends quickly, and some of them are immediate ties to the mystery she's investigating.
At times the book seemed to drag just a little bit, and Minnie would end up on wild goose chases.
There was also a thread of romance, in that her current relationship was very obviously not working.
And there was a tiny subplot almost about who she would start dating instead, It was fairly clear who would win out however,
I didn't guess who the killer was, and I also had no idea about the motive, It's always fun to be a bit surprised at the end when the big reveal happens, I think the killer was slightly too focused on trying to kill the new victim at the end, but that also helped keep me invested to the very last page.
sitelinkThis review was originally posted on Fantasy of the Silver Dragon I've enjoyed this series since the first book.
Reading about Minnie and her bookmobile always puts a smile on my face, Eddie is quite the character and I enjoy reading about his adventures,
This particular book was interesting, there was a lot going on and the struggles Minnie was dealing with in her love life were very real.
When a bookmobile patron dies, Minnie can't help but wonder if it was an accidental death or murder.
When Minnie meets Adam, a friend of the victim, she begins to believe that the death was no accident.
Her investigation leads her to the killer and it looks like Minnie is in over her head, sitelink com/article/po

:
Pouncing on Murder is the fourth entry in the fun, animalcentric Bookmobile Cat Mystery series, and it is sure to please animal and library loving readers.
As small town Chilson, Michigan, begins to thaw for the spring, Minnie, the assistant library director, is busy with her regular library duties, planning the first ever book fair, driving the bookmobile route, moving from her aunts boarding house to her houseboat for the season, and trying to maintain her long distance relationship with her boyfriend Tucker.
She is upset to learn that one of her bookmobile patrons, Henry, has died in what appears to be a tragic accident.
When she delivers books to Adam, who is recuperating from emergency heart surgery and was present when Henry died, he shares his concerns that Henrys death may not have been an accident and even that Adam was the intended target.
Soon after, Minnie and Adam have a near hitandrun, and Minnie begins to take Adams concerns seriously, What could newcomer Adam and cranky oldtimer Henry have in common to incite a killer Could the local land developer no longer take no for an answer when Henry did not want to sell his land Is Henrys neighbor leading Minnie down the wrong investigative path Could someone from Adams past returned for revenge Could the perpetrator be someone not even be on Minnies radar
Minnie seems like someone I would be friends with and is genuine and likable.
She talks to Eddie, the cat, just like I talk to my dog, The supporting characters are realistic and engaging, We should all be so fortunate to have friends and family devoted to us as are the residents of Chilson.
Ms. Cass paints the lake and surrounding area in picturesque strokes, and a vacation on the water sounds divine,
I do feel that the actual murder mystery took a backseat to the other things going on in Minnies life, and its resolution is a bit predictable, but it is entertaining nonetheless.
Minnies investigating seems true to life, fitting it in as she has time, and she does not come across as unbecomingly nosy.
Overall, I enjoyed Pouncing on Murder and look forward to more adventures with Minnie and Eddie, With its convincing setting, situations, and characters, it provides hours of pleasant diversion, I recommend it to fans of the series and those who like a heavy dose of Eddie the cat with plenty of books.
OBS would like to thank the publisher for supplying a free copy of this title in exchange for an honest review as part of their ongoing blog tour
Another excellent book in the series.
Very glad I found this series, Love Eddie the cat and he totally reminds me of my cats as I read, Stubborn, loving and chatty : I like how he interacts with other characters and who doesn't love a bookmobile Spring is arriving in Michigan, and it's time for Minnie to move back to her houseboat and out of her aunt's boardinghouse.
A tree falls atop an elderly man, but Minnie feels something is not quite right, After talking to the man with him at the time of the accident, she feels certain it was murder.
She presents her theory to the police, On the relationship front, things are not going so well with Tucker, her doctor boyfriend who never has time to visit her.
Everyone in Chilson wants her to hook up with Ash Wolverson, a police officer, I love Eddie, the bookmobile cat, and how he always saves the day! This installment was slow for me in getting started, but once it picked up around the halfway point, I enjoyed it.
Continuing to read this series centered around an assistant librarian who drives the bookmobile for a library set in Northern Lower Michigan.
Two things that stand out about the series: Eddie, the bookmobile cat, and the books that Minnie the librarian recommends.
I love this series, Minnie and Eddie, Eddie the infamous Bookmobile Cat includes some of the more fun characteristics of my cats, including his Mrrr,
Minnie combines the best characteristics of smalltown, Midwest people kind, hardworking, adaptable, resourceful, respectful, She loves her aunt, Eddie, her job as Bookmobile librarian, and living in her houseboat from spring through fall.
She will also go to any length to help those she cares about as well as seek justice for those murdered or having other damage or injury in their lives.
The plot includes many twists and turns, This is a humorous, yet complex, cozy mystery in which Minnie seeks to learn whether her friend and seller of maple syrup died of natural causes or was murdered and if murdered, by who.
She met interesting people while asking questions, and worked hard to find a famous author for a book signing when the one scheduled had an emergency.
This novel includes the most suspenseful, even terrifying, moments when Minnie learned who the read bad guy or bad gal was that almost kept me from sleeping the night I read it!
I highly recommend 'Pouncing on Murder' as well as other books in this Bookmobile Cat Mystery, especially to those who love anything about libraries and books, most especially to those who love the cats who chose them.
My favorite line from the book: ", . . I was very, very glad Eddie had chosen to spend his life with me, " pgThank you, Laurie, for such a wonderful series!! I was disappointed in this one, I expected the cat to "do" more, Not that cats really "do" much of anything, but Eddie just goes "Mrrr" and gets catnapped, He doesn't really do anything in the bookmobile, His owner keeps him safely in his carrier when they are moving, but when let out, the author seems to forget he's there.
The narrator seems to never tire of telling us that she is heightdisadvantaged, The ending was also very lame for me, The "villain" had stereotyped lines and didn't ring true with the character that had been developed earlier, The reason for the murder was an interesting one and some of the red herrings should have been pursued further.
However, if you like the animal/human detective type book, you may like this one better than I did.
I really enjoy this series with the librarian and Eddy, the bookmobile cat! Curl up with the latest from the national bestselling author of Borrowed Crime.

This is theth book in the series, I've only read two or three of them, but I do enjoy this series, AND no I did not read them in order, I like this main character and her cat, Minnie lives on a house boat during the summer and then moves in with her aunt during the winter.
Eddie, her cat seems to go everywhere that she does and they are always running into murder, This book is no different, BUT someone kidnaps Eddie!! I did enjoy this book, The characters are wonderful and the murder mystery is good, AudioBook
Stars: OverallNarrationStory
Possibly my favorite in this series featuring Eddie and his human, Minnie and their bookmobile in the Michigan countryside.
This story, is a mix of both mystery who killed Henry Gill, and wants to eliminate Adam and some life moments as Minnie juggles her first book fair, a long distance relationship that isnt really working, and traversing her normal route all while trying to discover who murdered Henry and why.
Eddie is also prominent and vocal, as Minnies constant conversations with him add a veracity to the characters particularly Eddie that will warm your heart.
There are tons going on here, and plenty of new characters are introduced, as well as Minnies interactions with those weve come to know, and the out of hibernation relief from many as spring is coming and the promise of sunshine and warmth have people optimistic and ready to see new faces.
But, with things not feeling quite “right” with her long distance boyfriend Tucker, she does bite the bullet and end it.
Perhaps Deputy Ash is the underlying reason Oh sure, there are twists and turns, and while the resolution was a bit predictable, with the murderer continuing to be a threat to the end, the story has developed a nice overall plotting arc that gives readers a sense of the place, a librarians woes, and the relationships that can develop when one isnt always looking.
Minnie is solidly helpful and not overly nosy, and she isnt dropping everything to head off and investigate in fact, the curiosity in these stories belong to Eddie his knack for landing in the right spot, or pushing the plot forward is adorably clever and while Minnie states shes glad he chose to live with her I can second that.
Clever, fun and not particularly stressful, these are cozies without blood, gore, or foul language perfect for people who appreciate characterdriven tales.
Narration for
this story is provided by Erin Bennett, and she just continues to improve with each one.
Her knowledge of the characters and plot combine in ways that manage to carry a distinct tone and voice for each, while allowing for some growth and the feeling that communication between Eddie and Minnie has evolved: his every murr, purr and meow are tinged with meaning, a meaning that Minnie has learned over the time theyve spent together, and hes never short of something to say.
Grab this series if you want to just enjoy a story for what it is clever, cat centric and utterly endearing.
