on Daydream Believer

book was really hard to put down, As things went from bad to worse in the heroine's life, I just needed to know how she would manage to survive that nightmare and hopefully create a new dream for herself.
What do you do when your dream life turns into a nightmare

When Eve Sheppards first novel, Daydream Believer, hits the big time, it catapults her into a career as a successful author.
She soon acquires a fabulous London flat, a wardrobe of designer clothes, more Mulberry and Prada handbags than any girl could want, and a longterm boyfriend, talented theatre director James Fenner.

But when James leaves her for a young actress, Eve begins to realise that her charmed life is built on very shaky foundations.
Soon her finances are in meltdown, her agent is taken seriously ill and her career seems all but over when her latest book flops.

Jobless, homeless and moneyless, Eve is forced to start again from the bottom, Only her university mates, Katie and Jess, her new friend Dan Kerr, member of the fabulously successful exboy band Wild Things, and his sister Stella remain loyal.
But just when she is beginning to realise that her feelings for Dan are becoming more than mere friendship, there comes the bitterest blow of all.

And then, suddenly and most unexpectedly, James is back on the scene, . .

For fans of British chick lit and Sophie Kinsella's 'Shopaholic' books in particular, There's something supremely satisfying about picking up another book by an author you admire, and discovering this one is just as delightful as the others you've read.

I adored Happy Hour, devoured Stories For Summer Days and now wait impatiently for the followup to White Wedding Blues, Luckily, Daydream Believer ticked all the right boxes again, and I read it over a few days,
When we first meet Eve, she's licking her wounds after the departure of her partner of almost seventeen years,

She's in her late thirties, a successful author and someone who enjoys the good things in life, Until the very fabric of her existence starts to unravel faster than a badly knitted jumper
The theme of finding oneself in the face of adversity is a recurring one in the author's books, and she handles it so well.
I was cheering Eve along all the way, as she rolls with the punches or just curls up into a sad little ball, completely understandably.

I loved how I was kept guessing about the romance element, instead of it being spelled out in bold capitals, And even subsidiary characters such as agent Daisy and Eve's devoted mum are beautifully drawn and slot perfectly into the narrative,
If you haven't read an Anne Mitchell book before, I strongly suggest you give one a try, A genuine treat.
Daydream Believer
by Anne Mitchell

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As a reading addict that truly needs astep program, I am always looking for authors that are new to me.
I have found another favorite,
" Daydream Believer" is a fantastic novel,
Eve a top of the class English Major comes from a single mothr home and works hard and geets an Oxford degree.
She meets James a dreamer, He is the type of person who lives in his dream and lets the world take care of his life for him.
After almost twenty years, he has an affair with a younger woman, that is the end of that relationship,
Eve who always thought she was a great manager finds herself in immense debt, James out of the picture and no help because he has never been able to help himself is not an option,
Eve a best selling chic lit author finds herself without and editor or publisher when her book sales fall,
Eva has a support group of three, Her Mom, who is retiired and living on a sparce income and two best friends, both from a more affluent background.

Broke, despondent, embarrassed at here situtation and on the verge of homelssness Eve tries to take her situation in hand, And Oh yes, she meets her dream guy but feels he is out of the question because he has been claimed by one of the aforementioned best friends.
Eve gets a job as a lowly waitress and still cannot make ends meetThis is the end of any "spoilers" I will give you.

To all chic lit lovers, I will say this, I read this novel in two sittings, Two because life required that I had to stop reading for a couple of hours, It is a novel that you will not want to put down, You need to grasp a cup or glass of your favorite beverage, curl up and open the book, It is a must read,
I need a sequel to this novel, I do I do. I need to know how Eve proceeds in life with an unnamed person, Deliberately not named above
Anne has two more novels availabel on Amazon, "Happy Hour" and "The First Rule of Fat Club" I just added them to my shopping list,

Eve Sheppard seems to have it all: a bestselling book that was optioned by a movie studio, the elegant flat in London, a multitude of choices in handbags, shoes and clothes, and a longterm relationship with a man she loves.
It's as if Fate decided she was a little TOO happy, Her books allof them have stopped selling, her income has almost completely dried up and heryear love affair with James is abruptly and shatteringly over.
This is a story about second chances to recover one's selflove and how each element of a person's life can be improved by admitting that changes and sometimes sacrificesshe has to sell all her Prada handbags and other items of value need to be made.
But in making those difficult changes, Eve comes out on the other side more of a winner than she was at the beginning of this book.
Ms. Mitchell has created a story that will likely resonate with many people, as we've all suffered the loss of love and income and selfesteem Eve just got all of her losses at once.
The characters are easy to like and dislike, We hurt for Eve during her trials but ultimately cheer her as she finds the way back to success, FREE on Amazon today! This book I have really been looking forward to reading this year after having read "Happy Hour" by Anne Mitchell.
"Daydream Believer" was no different as it too was a brilliant novel from start to finish, and I didn't want to put it down.
It was one of those cozy books, where you feel like you're in the middle of the story with the characters I genuinely cared about them and was sad to finish it! Eve Sheppard is extremely likeable.
When her life falls apart all you want to do is help her but of course things never get better until they hit rock bottom.

I related to Eve, as many other women in theirs/s do, We all have that 'James' in our life and you know how hard it can be to give up on him, We all wish we had a Dan : Her friends, Katie and Jess, are like your own best friends, It is easy to get lost in Eve's life, Warning: Don't start reading right before sleep as you will stay up way too late!

Overall, wellwritten and a great addition to chicklit!
Author Anne Mitchell serves up this delicious confection of a novel like a specialty coffee with extra whipped cream.
Yet under the yummy fun, theres a layer of sobering reality, Like Cinderella in reverse, we meet Eve on top of the world, just before she loses everything: her devoted readers, her chic London flat, her Prada handbags, her pride.

Eves meticulously detailed descent, followed by a masterful raising from the ashes, has the hallmark of a gifted storyteller, Mitchell doesnt cut overlyentitled Eve any breaks.
The largerthanlife aspects Right out of college, Eve wins a “first novel” competition and becomes rich and famous overnight, Eve meets a wealthy rock star who is immediately smitten with her, are exhilarating fun. The smackdown hurts, but careless, entitled Eve has it coming,

The saving grace for this complexly drawn character is that Eve learns her lesson fast, After a charmed life in the fast lane, she humbles herself right back from where she started, living with her working class single mom, who knows how to make a bone from the butcher into a nourishing soup that will last a week.

Eve is a challenging mix and therefore compellingly real, Shes done this to herself, and she needs a reality check, Mitchell delivers the take down with brutal strokes that get it just right, Eves plucky reserves of strength help readers feel sympathy for the downtrodden heroine, Theres nothing light and fluffy about Eves struggles, but her hardwon second chance is the cherry on top of this winning novel.
