I like that the baby washes the dad's new shoe in the toilet, whispering: And I think there was poop in it, Love this book, so cute, clever, and funny! Buddy and Earl find out that babies aren't always small, adorable critters sometimes they make a mess and are loud! Luckily, these two babysitters have some tricks up their sleeves.
Mom's friend Mrs. Cunningham is coming for a visit, and she's bringing her baby, Earl has no idea what a baby is, so Buddy does his best to explain,

Both of them are eager to meet his adorable little creation, Neither is prepared for the havoc he will wreak, And when the baby some how manages to escape from his "cage" and toddle off into the wild unknown, it's up to our favorite odd coup to save the day.

This third title in the critically acclaimed Buddy and Earl series follows a dog who likes to play by the rules and a hedgehog who knows no limits on another fun adventure.
This book has great illustrations,

Quote:
"People are more important than things," said Earl wisely, "Now go find something else for the baby to wash, We need to keep him busy until help arrives, "

.Stars Have you ever wanted to get inside the mind of your pet and your toddler in this case well the book totally gets into the mind of your pet for a good chuckle.
Can you relate! What we think it our Pets being annoying, messy and frustrating they are actually in their head doing a great service to us! insert mischievous grin Oh.
My. Goodness.

As I was reading this all I could think was "this could be my future with Mister if I'm not careful, " Yikes.

The illustrations were not my favorite, but they grew on me as I kept reading, The writing has a subtle humor that can catch you unaware, Think I will bring this home and read it with Madam, Hope she doesn't freak out though! Another cute story about Buddy and Earl, and their viewpoint on the world around the, In this book a baby really a toddler comes to visit the house, and the two friends must first learn what a baby truly is, as their experience the chaos a toddler loose in the house can cause.
However, no one is hurt and in the end friendships are still intact,

I feel this story would be more understood by older children, and adults, There is more text per page than I remember from the other stories, and the situations would be better appreciated by someone who has had the experience of chasing a toddler around.
For example when the baby is 'washing' the shoes in the toilet, a young child will not understand why it is humerus that book and other items become as clean as the shoes.
I love these! So funny and smart! Fun new word: speedwaddling! I love these stories of Buddy and Earl and their charming naïveté.
This is my first Buddy and Earl book and i thought it was fun, Cute story line and Norah enjoyed it too, "What's a baby" Oh, the fun of finding out!
Small text size with a fun story begs for an adult to cozy up with a child and read together.

Simple illustrations done in "Acryl Gouache on watercolor paper" support the text without unnecessary details I recognized the illustrator's style from another recent publication!.
Buddy and Earl are great in this book, Adults who don't keep a close eye on their kid especially over at a friend's house are less great, But Buddy and Earl do their best to make sure the baby doesn't fall into a snake pit or a bubbling river of lava, and all ends well.
We recently just took all the picture books out of my daughter's bookshelf at home, "because she is too old for them", We both want to buy this series though, It's just so sweet and funny, and I love the imagination it inspires, Moms friend Mrs. Cunningham is coming for a visit, and shes bringing her baby! While Buddy tries to explain the ins and outs of babydom to Earl, neither of them is prepared for the chaos the small and adorable creature brings with it.

When the baby manages to escape from its cage which Buddy gently suggests is really just a playpen its up to our favorite odd couple to save the day.

This third title in the critically acclaimed Buddy and Earl series follows a dog who likes to play by the rules and a hedgehog who knows no limits on another fun adventure in deductive reasoning and imaginative play.

Maintaining the adorable duo of Buddy and Earl established in the first, still full of the same creativity and wisdom, this series is rapidly making a nice cozy home close to my heart.

"People are more important than things," said Earl, . . It was a cute book, but not my thing, I can see how it would be appealing to children, A little baby comes to the home of Buddy and Earl, and a bit of chaos ensues, Super cute amp funny : I adored the artwork and have a feeling Buddy and Earl are going tor be my new absolute favourite duo.
It was a little hard to keep myMO interested for the whole length but I giggled through much of it, Will be seeking out more BampE stories, This is book three in the Buddy and Earl series, and it's adorable, Buddy and Earl are back in another adventure and this time they are essentially babysitting, It's cute, funny and sure to make children laugh at the antics of not only Buddy and Earl but of the baby as well.
A fun read. Buddy and Earl meet a baby and try to keep him out of trouble, I always try to give books with my name a try, I was familiar with this series, This story would be enjoyable for young readers but probably not for grownups who can tell the baby should have been better supervised, All the unnecessary destruction of property wasnt cute, What does your pet think about a baby coming to visit This cute book told from the view point of a dog and a hedgehog will answer that question.
Cute simple illustrations with only four colors throughout the book, Everyone knows what trouble babies can get into but not Earl the hedgehog, He's never seen one. When he finds out they create havoc he's not so sure he likes them but his opinion is soon changed by the adorable baby.
This book might be a good choice for children ready to hear a longer story, Early readers just starting chapter books will get a kick out of the series as well, Ages. I'm not going to lie, I have become an unabashed fan of this series from Canada and its funny and unlikely animal characters, When their human family prepares for a visit from Mrs, Cunningham and her baby, Buddy tries to teach Earl about what babies are like, But the toddler causes got a lot of trouble, ripping off a doll's leg, chewing on Buddy's dog toy, and devouring Earl's food, leaving Earl completely unimpressed.
But after the annoying little guy somehow manages to get out of his playpen, Earl becomes concerned about his whereabouts and imagines all sorts of terrible things happening.
Eventually, they find the child, washing things in the toilet, Despite all the annoying moments, Earl has a huge realization about how much dogs and babies have in common, After all, both add joy to the world, The gouache illustrations on watercolor paper are simple yet striking, and illustrate vividly the bond between these two very unlikely friends, I like the touches of red that are placed across the rest of a very softlycolored palette, This one is perfect for sharing with others, Buddy tries to explain to Earl what a baby is before one visits the house, Both are pretty excited for the baby to arrive, but find that the baby makes quite a mess of things in a short amount of time causing them to temporarily

change their minds about how wonderful babies are.

When the baby escapes its playpen the two friends worry about all the untold dangers that the baby could be facing, and conclude that babies are pretty great, as are dogs.

Bookshelf Mentor Writing Traits:
Idea Fergus does a great job focusing the topic early in the book Earl wants to know what babies are like.
Fergus takes the reader on a journey developing the topic through a sequence of events that the baby gets into with Earl and Buddy following hot on his trail.
The illustrations throughout the book bring the topic to life and help tell the story, By the end of the book, the overall message and meaning is stated by Earl "people are more important than things",

Organization This book creates a lead and grabs the readers attention with a clear topic and easy to follow illustrations, As Earl and Buddy follow baby around the house the reader is taken on a sequence of mishaps that happen, The use of sequence wors such as "before, next, after" assist the reader in understanding the sequence of events, As each event occurs, Earl gets more apprehensive about having baby visit, however the story ends with a sense of resolution as Earl comes to the conclusion that "people are more important than things".

This book would be a great resource to use in the classroom to help students understand developing an idea or topic in a story and then supporting that topic through a series of events.
Students can create sequences events that support the topic and eventually create a sense of resolution, I would have students create an outline of this story that includes a sequence of events that leads up to the resolution, After using this story as an example, I would have students brainstorm their own story and have them create an outline as they did with Buddy and Earl and the Great Big Baby.
Once students have created an outline have them write their story following their outline,
