Gain Its Time To Call 911: What To Do In An Emergency Prepared By Smart Kids Publishing Represented In E-Text
Connection: What is a response activity that you can do in a classroom with children in response to the book
"It's Time to Call".
Very important
to role play emergencies and emergency drills, We do not know when an emergency may happen, However children need to understand what is an emergency and is not considered an emergency, Then too understand to calland not, There are many many kinds of phones and sometimes parents may even put a codes on their cell phones, Some phones are designed to call by pushing the word "Emergency", and our children need to know, Therefore it is wise to practice from time to time and ask parents to reinforce good emergency practices at home too.
I would have prepared emergencies and nonemergency role plays the students would carry out and we would talk about when to calland allow each child to use different types of pretend phones, to dial.
It is important to know what each child knows and understands regarding emergency situations and what to expect once they place the call.
We would talk about the different sounds we would hear, who we may come in contact with, What kinds of uniforms responders may wear and what information we would have to give the First Responder over the phone and in person.
To make sure the students understand I would have them to draw me a picture of an emergency and a picture of a non emergency.
Then extend the learning to the home environment to include the family,
