a sleep aid
For those of us that enjoy occasionally drifting off to gentle welcoming slumberland with a good book as a induction aid this is SO Not that book.
More of a suggestion of Hell, from a pretty much still human viewpoint, In a good way, of course, For strange values of good, An intriguing series.
This is another very good book in the Warp Marines series, The stakes keep getting higher, with a lot of wellplotted action and characters who continue to evolve in interesting ways, Humans are in a hostile universe, faced with
the very immediate threat of being exterminated and forced to make choices that are gradually turning more and more of them into monsters.
That has been happening to some extent throughout the series, but becomes more apparent now, Major Zhang leads an expedition to recover more of the ships she discovered in the last adventure with the hopes of turning the tide in the war with the Gimps.
As usual the marines end up having to kick alien butt, Wow! That was a rush!
I've tried to read some other series on Amazon, and they left me feeling, . . flat. Then Carella's newest tome dropped, and wow! I like the writing, I like the characters. Even though I'm kind of sure that Bookwon't be the end of any of the main characters, the ones who got through books.
. . well, there's plenty of suspense for me,
This is a dealwiththedevil series, Almost literally. There are creatures that live in warp space, called Warplings, Some of them seem to enjoy pain, suffering, and death, The United Stars of America is getting pretty cozy with the powers of some pretty unsavory characters, Will the good guys still be good guys if they use the devil's horses to win the war Maybe, maybe not, That's the suspense I'm talking about,
Gosh, we've come so far from that first book where the natives attacked the warp marines on that backwater planet, This series is becoming an epic goodvsevil story, with characters who seem to grow in each episode,
Speaking of "the writing," it seems like Carella looked at each paragraph and asked, "How can I say this differently from the ways it's been said before".
. . and then came up with a winner every time,
Let's get off this cliffhanger ending and start reading the next book now! Great addition to this universe
A great addition to the warp marine universe for sure.
Action from start to finish, Defending humanity against all comers, Really gets you going. Cannot for next book WARNING: Contains violence, strong language and adult content
A mission to a forgotten planet, A disgraced admiral facing an implacable foe, And on the forefront of battle, the dreaded Warp Marines,
As the greatest power in the galaxy launches a major offensive into human space, a small expedition ventures into the unknown, searching for a weapon that may turn the tide for the beleaguered United Stars of America.
But will digging around the lost ruins of an ancient and evil civilization provide the answers the US needs, or bring destruction to the entire galaxy
Awsome
Can not wait for next book.
Each is better than the last, This is a series that I hope goes for many books,
Addictive series
This series gets better and better, I'd describe it as a cross between WarhammerK, Starship Troopers and Star Wars, Basically, every intelligent species in the known universe is trying to kill all the humans and it turns out that they may have a good reason for that.
Major Zhang and the Warp Marines are after more of the alien ships that could turn the tide in their battle with both their alien enemies and their mutinous fellow sailors.
Amazing
What a read cj carella writes like a age old master the action is very well done and the story is inventive congratulations.
