Snag The 100x Leader: How To Become Someone Worth Following Narrated By Jeremie Kubicek Print
book works best as a companion piece for the other GiANT resources, In that context, it's great, However, as a standalone, it's much more theoretical than practical, There's much more emphasis on the end goal, and not a lot of practical advice on getting there, However, with the rest of the GiANT program, it works much better, More theory and less practical approach, I so wish that this book was structured! Wouldn't recommend it to anyone, Some solid, actionable sections toward the middle of the book that I will definitely use, But these guys really beat around the bush more than I wouldve liked and repeated themselves a ton, I get it Be like a Sherpa and a leader worth following, No need to repeat ittimes, It almost felt like a teaser trailer or clickbait for a seminar they were holding, If it hadnt been recommended to me I wouldve stopped after Chapter, But glad I didnt Just wish the editor wouldve gotten them to trim it down more, Love this leadership book cub book, The analogy of a Sherpa was a great visual, How to not just lead, but guide others to do so also,
This is the “How to, . .
” book on positioning yourself to be an influencer in the lives of those you serve and lead, You cant give something you dont possess, so the book starts with a good look at who you are and then guides you in helping others do the same.
This book is more than informative, It provides transferable tools that impact your leadership and those around you, Its one Ill look back to often, Heard about this book via a podcast so was very excited to read it, Listening to the podcast I really related to the concept of leaders acting as sherpa guides up to the mountain top and the emphasis is once you've climbed it to return and help others make the ascent thus thex effect.
However after reading it I came away a little disappointed as there was some decent enough theory but not enough practical in my opinion, Totally biased here as Ive been using the tools in this book in a variety of teams for the last couple of years, but the practicality, selfawareness, and communication skills that saturate these pages and compliment GiANTs other tools are a massive value add for any leader.
“Knowing ourselves to lead ourselves” one of the core maxims of this book lays the foundation of going deeper than mere behavioral modification to get to the roots of our tendencies and why we think, feel, talk and react the way that we do.
TheX Leader is like Batmans “utility belt” for developing healthy leaders and teams its a simple, sticky vocabulary, expressed in visual tools, providing an objective language that has the ability to transform leadership culture.
Dont expect all of the tools to speak to you at once, Find thethat stand out, and implement what initially connects for you personally, Ive found that over time, certain tools that didnt resonate at first, have been some of the most impactful for me down the road,
For me, the idea of selfpreservation in the Influence Model was one of my initial eyeopeners it illuminated many subtle coping mechanisms that I had been prone to taking on in environments I perceived as threatening or antagonistic.
Additionally, the Support/Challenge Matrix has also given me a universal language with many team members to engage hard conversations effectively, with directness and empathy,
Whether or not you dig into this book, definitely recommend checking out their online platform to engage the breadth of their language, tools, and assessments, It was a really good TED talk, Thoughtful look at becoming the type of leader who helps people achieveof their potential and their highest best, Well written and clearly explained, they provided many actionable ideas presented in creative ways, Excellent read!
