Take Advantage Of Deadhead And Buried (English Cottage Garden Mysteries #1) Written By H.Y. Hanna In Digital Format

you like cats and flowers, then this series is definitely for you
Set in the Oxfordshire countryside the story follows the adventures of Poppy Lancaster who inherits a cottage with a beautiful garden.
She decides to continue running the plant nursery and the first few books are about her trials and errors in that department,
What really caught my attention was her neighbour's cat Oren, and the wonderful descriptions of the flowers, It made me want to go out and buy a bouquet immediately! And if you are a cat lover or have ever observed one, you will love the overbearingly loveable feline.

Although I love the setting, I was not too thrilled with the plots themselves, storyplot, not gardenplot : Some of the incidents felt too convenient someone drops her bag so that Poppy can find an important object, Poppy looses her temper so that an important accident can be set up etc.
Also, the murderer is not too difficult to figure out if you are a mystery aficionado, Nevertheless, it was an entertaining read and that is why I am recommending it here, . . Deadhead and Buried by H, Y. Hanna

My Thoughts /

And so it begins, . a new British cosy mystery series from Australian author H, Y. Hanna. The English Cottage Garden Mysteries,

In this first instalment we are introduced to the effervescent, Poppy Lancaster, Now, Poppy would love nothing more than to quit her job and travel the World, but bills, bills, and more bills, keeps her in a job she doesnt like.
One day, a letter arrives in the mail from an attorney named Charles Mannering and Poppy finds out that she has inherited an English Cottage Garden Nursery aka Hollyhock Cottage from her grandmother, whom she has never met.
So whats a girl to do, but jump straight on a train to go check it out! Poppy, thinking that this is a dream too good to be true, plans on selling it immediately and use the money to follow her dream of travelling.

As the story progresses, we are introduced to some extremely interesting side characters:

eccentric inventor and, next door neighbour is an endearing character, providing us with much of the comic relief in this story.
Nick Forrest Author and writer of crime fiction novels Poppys other next door neighbour and, as it turns out an excop, Nick Forrest adds some moodiness, mystery hmmm and maybe romance in the future Attorney, Charles Manning lends a fatherly influence on Poppy but is he all that he seems There is Oren, the big huge orange tom cat, who belongs to crime writer Nick.
Einstein the terrier pup is also an absolutely fun character belonging to Dr Noble, The altercations between these two in the story is absolutely hilarious,

As the story progresses, so does Poppys love for the town, the people and her grandmothers cottage,

A lovely start to a new series!
The language of flowers

A terrific start to a new series and a departure from the paranormal books by the author.
But it is a worthwhile departure, A wonderful plot with characters that embrace the normal but still enhance the story, Whilst the animals are in a league of their own especially Oren who has a real ability to sniff out crime and criminals,
She has a real monster for a boss demanding, aggressive and with a demeaning attitude to others, So when she finally snaps and gives in her notice it is with relief, However now she has to find not only another job but also somewhere to live as the landlord has given notice to the tenant that she can't sublet.
The inheritance of a cottage and nursery now sound like a godsend, Okay she's planning to sell but in the meanwhile she'll have somewhere to stay, Her first night though is eventful as she breaks up a dog and cat fight whilst finding an area of disturbed earth, Morning has her uncovering a dead body, Now with the cottage out of bounds she is grateful for the writer next door letting her use his guest room, Who killed the man and why Add in an absent minded professor, a cousin who wants her to sell so he can get the commission and an unquenchable curiosity.
Will she find the killer Will she sell Will she stay even though she knows nothing about flowers, planting or how to run a nursery Another corker of a read and first of a relatively new series by H.
Y. Hanna. You know a book is damn good when you decide to stay up all night fighting a psychotropic sedative just to finish it, .
