Fetch City Without A Sun (Vampire State, #2) Created By Alexander Charalambides Presented As Manuscript
Without A Sun is the second book in the Vampire State series by Alexander Charalambides, This series really does take vampire lore and shake it up a bit giving an original and intriguing take on vampire stories.
But it is so much more than just a vampire story, with plenty of drama, danger, action, adventure, mysteriousness, surprising developments, politics, agendas, social commentary, wonderful paranormal elements, and superb worldbuilding.
There is definitely a bit of a dark dystopian feel to the series, which I love, and more. It felt a little dystopian and dark at times, But that added to the whole atmosphere,
This was an interesting story complex and dynamic, Though it was a little slow going at times the story was intriguing enough to keep me invested in the outcome, Even though this book is set around a year after the events in books one, Vampire State, I would really recommend reading book one before starting on this one as having all that storyline and information will definitely give you a better appreciation of this book.
A lot has happened between the events in book one and now, Our characters have to navigate many changes personal, social, as well as political, I really enjoyed following along to find out how everything played out, Definitely looking forward to more of this series,
Thank you, Alexander Charalambides!
City Without A Sun Vampire State Bookby Alexander Charalambides is a contemporary paranormal romance vampire story.
The battle between vampires and humans is still raging and the politics has changed, The story is a fast paced with lots going on, Life is getting more complicated and dangerous for our heroine, As with the first book Charalambides is good with world building, and character development who are complex but relatable, I am enjoying this series and cant wait for the next book, City Without A Sun Vampire State Bookby Alexander Charalambides
Stars!!!!
I am the queen of reading books out of order.
This is the second book in the series and I have to admit that I was missing a bit of context but that did not really interfere with my enjoyment of this book.
The author has quite a refreshing idea and I like their take on vampires and humans, I found that there was just enough drama that I was glued to this book,
I really could get into Rowena's character, I like how she is the underdog really and has an uphill battle to try and make things better for humans in a vampire led society.
I like that she has a very reliable friend base, I like how the author brings the characters to life like they jump
off of the pages, I look forward to reading more from this author and series, City Without A Sun Vampire State Bookby Alexander Charalambides was an enticing read, I enjoyed the first book and was able to get into the second without an issue, I love Rowena's strength and determination, She really wants to make a change at any cost, I enjoyed the plot, character development, and it was perfectly paced,
This is the second book in the series and it picks up about a year after the end of Vampire State.
Rowena has remained in Sanguinia, Vincenzo has been disinherited by his parents and Luka has simply disappeared, Within the Empire the political landscape has also changed, Changing the law to allow for human freedom has not been popular and in reaction a new organization, the ULA, is gaining influence amid what appears to be an organized media campaign against human freedom.
When Vincenzo uses his influence to get Rowena a job with Gargoyle, a Sanguinian news network, she does her best to settle in and represent the human point of view.
Her coanchor Titus seems friendly at first but when it comes to her first time 'on air', he shows his true colors and Rowena becomes aware of the danger she's in daily, simply working at Gargoyle.
Worried that Gargoyle will fire her, and gambling on her own humanity, Rowena tells her editor she can get the most sought after interview in the Sanguinian Empire, a chance to talk to the mysterious and mystic prince of neighboring Kemet who has arrived in Sanguinian for trade talks.
Rowena and Vincenzo have their problems as all real life couples do, Luka turns up and makes Rowena wonder whether she made the right choice personally I'd have gone with Luka and once again leads her astray and then of course there is the addition of the handsome prince, and once he comes on the scene I found myself wondering why she bothered with the others.
Antet is handsome, charming, he understands her position and he's fabulously rich,
Two major new characters, Titus and Antet are great additions to the series and Rowena continues to be a heroine worth caring about.
No insta love which I hate plus some serious real world problems woven into the fabric of a fantasy vampire adventure, I continue to enjoy this series! City Without a Sun by Alexander Charalambides is the second book in the Vampire State Series.
I recommend reading the books in order because the story is building throughout the series, This is an action and mystery packed adventure, The characters are great and the development through the series has been wonderful, I am really enjoying reading about Rowena and the path she is taking, This book kept me up late because I just had to see how it would end, I really enjoy how the author is taking the vampire story and making it his own, I look forward to reading more in this series and from this author in the future, In City Without A Sun Vampire State Bookby Alexander Charalambides, we join Rowena in the next stage of her journey as she struggles for human rights in a city of vampires.
As the only human that has ever been granted an audience with their emperor you would think they would be knocking down her door.
But such is not the case, This is a great second book to this series, This one is a bit of a tease I cant wait to read the next one, Once again a good story by Alexander Charalambides, The story of Rowena and Vincenzo just gets better and better, This story had a few twists and turns but that just made it very interesting, The vibrant world that Alexander Charalambides has created make the novel come alive, I look forward to the future adventures of Rowena and Vincenzo, City Without A Sun
