finger is just itching to give this bookstar, Rosemary Gilbert made me so mad I wanted to pound her face into a big pile of dirt!

Rosemary arrived at her Aunt Edith's house after recovering from an illness.
Aunt Edith had practically begged her to come for a visit since they hadn't seen each other in thirteen years, Right away Rosemary feels that something isn't right, Aunt Edith had made it sound like she was all alone, when her stepson, Drew Chester, was also staying at the house,

Rosemary noticed that the once

beautiful home that had been a party place for the rich and famous was now shabby and bleak, and Aunt Edith came across as someone acting in a play, but then she had always been dramatic Rosemary told herself.

As the story unfolds, Rosemary is certain something is wrong, but can't figure out what, There are two maids in her aunt's employee that she claims have always been there, but Rosemary doesn't remember them, and the two sisters also come across as though they are acting.

Rosemary couldn't decide if she should trust Drew, the boy she played with as a child, or not, She needed someone to confide in, so she started telling him about the voices she regularly heard behind closed doors, and that she was sure they weren't the only ones in the house.

Rosemary knows she should get out of the house, especially after she falls into an open grave in the front yard, She starts to pack, but of course she doesn't leave, She must say goodbye to Aunt Edith first, but Aunt Edith didn't seem to be around, She goes to investigate and comes across a room filled with old photos and costumes from Aunt Edith's past, She realized that she had forgotten Aunt Edith used to be an actress,

Rosemary wastes precious time flipping through photo albums instead of getting her behind out of the house, When she makes it to her car, it won't start and she gives up, She couldn't possibly make it down the road to town on foot, If I thought my life was in danger, I'd give it a try,

Rosemary doesn't give it a try, instead she takes food from people she doesn't trust and finds herself knocking at death's door.
The next day after her nearly fatal dinner, a lunch tray is brought to her, and apparently she is so hungry she can't resist it.
She thinks drinking the tea and eating the rolls should be fine, Like how stupid can one person be

One of Drew's nicknames for Rosemary was little nitwit, so I wasn't the only one aware of her shortcomings upstairs.
Rosemary deserved to be caught and murdered, she was just that dumb,

Rosemary would start laughing hysterically during escape attempts, If she wasn't laughing, she was gasping loud enough for anyone searching for her to hear, if she wasn't doing that she was blacking out, and worst of all, when Drew cut himself and she saw the blood, she started screaming at the top of her lungs and wouldn't stop.

The way I see it, is if Rosemary was insistent on doing everything possible to get herself killed, she may as well get what she wanted.

The conclusion was pretty much a circus, It was revealed why everything that had gone on had gone on, but it really didn't make any sense and was horribly farfetched, This was a weird one, y'all, I'm not sure why I liked it, but I did, :D Shaded with echoes of other Lynch gothics particularly The Devil's Mirror also weird but entertaining, From Secret Places features a bizarre plot with supposedly dead people in a crumbling house by the sea, missing zillionaires, creepy old folks, a limited stageplay type setting not accidental, amp random attempts on the heroine's life that make little sense, given the final reveal amp dastardly scheme.
There's also a grumpy hero who veers toward oldskool Harlequin assholes,

Fun pulp, though, :D HOUSE OF VENGEFUL GHOSTS,

When pretty Rosemary Gilbert arrived at Farview, she could hardly believe how the old house by the sea had changed, Once lively and laughterfilled, Farview was now a cold and dismal ruin, inhabited only by her aunt and two sullen servants, Even Drew Chester, Rosemary's childhood playmate, now grown to dark, attractive manhood, greeted her with strange aloofness and sarcasm, Then Rosemary began to realize that the dark recesses of Farview harbored others, people at whose existence both Drew and her aunt merely scoffed.
She had to find out who they were, But when she crept through the gloomy halls to glimpse their faces she saw only the faces of the dead!

Some sinister plan was being hatched in Farview, and Rosemary Gilbert knew too much.
And so, even as two handsome men vied for her love, someone was plotting her death, . . Miriam Lynch wrote several Gothic novels and some nurse/doctor romances and some hybrids which have all of the above in them, Pseudonyms Include: Dolores Craig Moira Lord Miriam Lynch Claire Vincent Mary Wallace,
