you don't run your own life, somebody else will, " John Atkinson
After a failed suicide attempt, Kennedy is forced to deal with the demons that lead on her on the path of destruction, At the urging of her psychiatrist, Kennedy starts journaling her thoughts in an effort to find out where the real problem stem from, Kennedy realizes one of things that is hindering her recovery is her exboyfriend, Drake, Getting away from Drake will be easier said than done, . .
Drake Collins. As much as I want to call this character a villain I think of an old saying “You teach people how to treat you, ” Drake is a handsome executive with looks that could kill, but underneath his beautiful exterior is a conniving, selfcentered, and obnoxious human being,
Electa Rome Parks has delivered another BLOCKBUSTER one of things I love about this author is her ability to draw the reader in with the first page and keep their interest until the end of the book.
There are so many women that are willing to forget who they truly are for the chance to have Love or what they believe to be Love.
If you are a person going through that or something similar, after reading this book you will look at things differently,
Side Note To Author: I cant wait to read a book about Drake,
Get This Book! You Will Not Be Disappointed
What can I say about this book, I really didn't like the main character Kennedy, To me she was just too weak, Excellent read! nice dialogue about self analysis and worth, . . well written and recommended paperback! sitelink bookreferees. org/ Nice. True Confessions takes you on a story about Kennedy as she tells her story to what lead her to trying to attempt suicide,
Taking you on a journal as she starts to fall for a man by the name of Drake that she works with, She feels she loves him and believing he will be his wife, But, things goes down hill and she starts to piece together the things she was missing about Drake,
Her Mother whom has adopted her shows her love and tries to nurse her back to health while at the same time going through some things with Kennedy's adopted dad.
Her friend Taylor is like a sister to her as she tries to get Kennedy to get over Drake,
Drake aint no good,
Overall I liked this book nice, : Meet Kennedy Logan, a twentyeightyearold educated and gorgeous woman
who is in love with the wrong man sidebar no surprise, we have all been here at some point.
Anyway, she has a confession to make which she unravels slowly through writing in her diary and yes, its filled with sexual escapes after a failed suicide attempt.
As I read this novel, I got to know more about the man Drake Collins who led Kennedy to the brink of her destruction, He had a high sexual appetite that Kennedy tried to live up to, He was a control freak who demanded that she change to suit him from the clothes she wore, not drinking sodas, changing her hair, etc, Putting back the pieces would take some time and her overbearing mother, Dorothy Logan would make sure she broke free of Drake, This was no easy task as Drake worked in the same department as Kennedy and with every turn she made he was right there to taunt and try to control her.
If this pressure wasnt enough, Kennedy wanted to find her birth mother because she had tons of questions as to why she was abandoned, With the help of Taylor, her best friend, and her absentee father dealing with his own breakup with his younger girlfriend and her mother, Kennedy would soon have better days.
Overall this novel was a good read, The characters were realistic although at times I felt Kennedy was too weak and should have confronted Drake he got off really light, But after her true confession was revealed I understood the reasoning behind her resolve, In the end, Kennedy found her answers and removed herself from the ever controlling Drake in pursuit of a better life, Good for her!
Some of my favorite lines:
Snippet from Kennedys diary After each breakup, I really psyched myself up in order to rationalize him being back in my life.
And, of course, Drake came back with every desire to please me, He knew the right words to speak, the correct gifts to buy and the right places to take me, All to make me fall swiftly back under his spell, That didnt last long. When all was said and done, it was always about Drake, Always Drake. Whatever lies and misdeeds he had to tell and do to achieve his happiness, he did it, The truth was boring and his motives were always the ultimate goal,
read this a long time ago and it was a good book Kennedy became weak for someone who took complete advantage of her, It was a game to him all along but she couldn't/wouldn't see it, He was a master manipulator smooth, fine, rich and interested in HER! Love the writer but this one just didn't hit home for me, The confession wasn't quite as earth shattering as I thought it would be, I read this book in one day, I was curious about the main character and her man, The book was a little depressing because the main character had low selfesteem, She had no voice when it came to the man she was seeing, She was weak. Never allow a man to have that much control over you, Period Very good read. Electra Rome Parks is an excellent writer and story teller I'm looking forward to her next book, . As I started reading my first thought was perhaps I grew up too quickly, I couldn't get off my mind how I reasoned by the time I reached twentyeight years old,
But Kennedy in this delectable novel admits to being coddled, and that she is a coward, a gem of an opening, thus it's these emblems that drive and steers this confessional novel onward.
Moving at a good clip Kennedy journals and dialogues her experiences falling hard for a man who does not share her ideals of commitment, Hands off the wheel, but both feet on the gas and eyes practically shut she rides the relationship like this until it careens into a ditch, Everyone external to the main activity that being stepparents, best friend, and even an officemate saw this coming, albeit, . . no hands, gas pedal to the metal, and eyes shut, . . who wouldn't
Midway through Confession Time I did get a little rush wondering what the confession was going to be, and was too tickled when I got to it.
It certainly wasn't funny, funny, It was a laugh on me, Talk about eyes wide shut! I had to shake my head, But I'm going to blame it on the tame premise interwoven between sidebar activities that pulled my leg like that, Very well done, along with the tasteful handle this author has on detailing intimacy, I certainly know what to pull off a bookshelf when I want a pleasant read, True Confessions by Electa Rome Parks is a must read, It is the story of Kennedy Logan, ayear old, who's life is being turned upside down by a coworker, Drake Collins, While Kennedy yearns for Drake to love her the way she loves him, Drake is more interested in control and sex, driving Kennedy off the deep end.
I gave True Confessions five, I loved the characters as well as the flow of the story line, This story has an underlining message about self love and self esteem, It was definitely a story I needed to hear, If you can't love yourself, . how do you expect someone else to love you Electa Rome Parks is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, can't wait to see what else she has up her sleeves, Twentyeight year old Kennedy Logan is gorgeous, educated, talented, and in love, Unfortunately, Drake Collins has other ideas about the true state of their relationship, Kennedy hopes to turn him around Drake just wants to turn her out sexually, Kennedy is also searching for her biological mother, who gave her up at birth, She wants answers and she has tons of questions, The enormous weight of these predicaments leads to a failed suicide attempt,
Her overprotective and overbearing mother, Dorothy Logan, moves in with Kennedy and makes it her mission to get her daughter's life back in order, The first step is getting rid of Drake Collins once and for all, but that's easier said than done, Drake has no intentions of going anywhere, Kennedy's ever loyal and funloving best friend, Taylor, and her absentee father join forces to help support Kennedy in her time of need,
At her psychiatrist's advice, Kennedy uses writing as her therapy, She starts to keep a daily journal detailing the erotic circumstances and family drama that led up to her despair, Through very personal, funny, and graphic entries, readers will share her confessions, Brace yourselves for a very steamy journey!,
