read this to discover why some women want to decorate themselves in graffiti but still have not discovered the answer, Some like their tats, some have them to commemorate a life event and some got them on a whim, They are described but no photos, A book only for the tat lover, I did like learning the thoughts and feelings from the women who told their stories about tattoos but I was rather disappointed that there where no pictures in the ebook version.
If I read about tattoos I just want to be able to see some as well, This was better than I thought it would be! I loved this book! It was great to read the reasons behind the tattoos of other women and to know that I am not the only one with parents who disapprove.
And, as expected, I now have the urge for another tattoo, I know it's inevitable but it just may be a matter of sooner rather than later, I just wish this book had photos of the various tattoos mentioned in the essays I'd love to see them, After being abysmally disappointed with another book that was supposed to be about other people's tattoo stories, I was pleased to get exactly that with this book and bonus, they're all about women.
It only took me a couple of hours to read allstories they were very short, I did admittedly skim through a couple of stories that failed to capture my attention or heart,

To me, I felt that this book focused a little too much on the "what" tattoo design, placement, color, size and not enough on the "why".
Even the ones that did go into the thinking behind the tattoos did little to trigger much of a visceral response from me.
I think the goal of this book was more to explore how other people perceive women with tattoos as opposed to what the women themselves thought.
So, my gripe may be a little unfounded,

Most of the contributors to this book have a background in writing, so for the most part the stories were fairly wellwritten, just a little too straightforward and factual for my liking.
There were a couple of brilliant phrases I was able to pick out, though, and that made it all the more enjoyable.


The Kindle edition,

which is how I read this book, was likely an afterthought, because the formatting placed snippets that probably looked just fine in print into awkward places in the etext.
I got the Kindle sample first, which only contained one page of the actual content and didn't do much to persuade me to spend theon it, which is at the high end for Kindle, and highly overpriced for a book of this nature.
If I hadn't had an Amazon gift credit, I would not have bought this book based on the sticker shock and ineffective sample, despite the fact that I really wanted to find a book about women and their tattoos.


I still enjoyed reading about these women, It's worth reading, but be warned that the Kindle edition isn't greatly formatted and is pricy as far as Kindle books go.
The last story in the collection was my favorite, so I was happy to end it on a high note,

Awesome collection. Should have known some of the stories would make me mad, So glad I chose a female tattoo artist, I'm published in this book! Stories about tattoos and the women who have them, A fun read stories of women and tattoos, why they get them and symbolism behind them, Made me want to go get another : An interesting collection of essays on tattoo experiences, As in any collection, some essays were better than others, but all were interesting and the variety included shows how vast the spectrum of tattoo enthusiasts really is.
OK, so I only rated this five because the editor was kind enough to include one of my essays in the lineup, but it's still a good read, and can give a whole new perspective on body art if you are among the nonmodified.

I highly recommend reading it, and then telling me how much you liked it! This was what I wanted all along: a book that gave stories behind tattoos.
Interestingly, reading stories didn't make me want one as much as watching L, A. Ink does, but it was still a good read, A Simon amp Schuster eBook, Simon amp Schuster has a great book for every reader, .
