really enjoyed Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery and revisiting Polly, Huckle, and little puffin, Neil, What's great about Jenny Colgan's sequels is that they don't just repeat storylines the characters grow and deepen and encounter new issues, Although I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first, this is a solid, enjoyable book that was hard to put down, Can't wait to read the next book in the series! After reading the little beach street bakery it quickly became my favourite book ever! So I was over the moon when I seen this next book.


After begining Summer at the little beach street bakery it was like Id never been away, It was a delight to be back with the fantastic characters and see how they have been getting on with their lives,

I especially loved getting back to hearing Pollys story, and all the lovely delicious bakes she created in the bakery,

We also see plenty of relationships develop in this next instalment and it is just wonderful,

It just makes you want to live in their wee village the way the community comes together for one another is just incredible,

Overall a fantastic follow up,so well deserved. Jenny Colgan's books are so much fun! Her heroines are feisty, resolute, creative and vulnerable, When life hands them surprising situations, they did in and work hard to make a success of their endeavors, Their romantic interests are complicated and one is never sure how the romance will turn out, I love reading cooking novels and these are among the very best! This book is a perfect addition to the Little Beach Street Bakery series, It has all the favorites from the first book and a few new faces as well,
There are a lot of reviews already so I'll keep mine fairly short, When something terribly sad happens, a new person appears at the bakery determined to change just about everything, Needless to say this doesn't settle well with Polly but she tries to make the best of things, However, things continue to spiral leaving Polly and Huck as well as a few others but I'm trying to avoid spoilers! have to make decisions that could change everything, or everything that hasn't already been changed.
A lot happens in this book, It goes from one thing to another to another in a fashion that this author does splendidly, A good flow to the whole story, I really enjoyed it and if you liked the first one you'll like this since it follows right along, Since I said I'd keep this short I should probably stop babbling on and on, Great story and well worth reading, Polly and Huckle, along with Neil, their pet puffin, return to Mt, Polbearn, where life is lovely, They bought the lighthouse and Polly has business than ever, But then the bakery has a new owner who is horrible, and Polly has to make a change, She buys a van and creates success again, running her business from a food truck, I loved the business aspect of the story as well as the evolving relationships, hers with Selina, Tarnie's widow, particularly, The descriptions of the storm were really powerful, Lots of emotion and good story lines here, This novel was cozy and easy to read, It feels like a Hallmark Movie woman moves from the city to a isolated town by the sea and starts a bakery obstacles stand in the way, but through hard work, luck, and the support from a handsome guy and loyal friends, it all works out in the end.
I wasn't a huge fan of the main character Polly I found her weak and a bit needy, But the author brought the beauty and contrasting harshness of living on an isolated island off the cost of England, and threw in a little adventure to make for a delightful read.
I was captivated by The Little Beach Street Bakery when it was released last year,   Following on from the successful method of releasing mini series of books like Rosie Hopkins Sweet Shop and the Cupcake Cafe, Jenny Colgan has decided this year to revisit Polly in Mount Polbearn and the quaint little bakery we all fell in love with last year.
Often when books form part of a series people week say its okay if youve not read the first one, in this case Id say its probably better if you had add it tends to delve straight in where we left Polly at the end of book one and its tears straight on with all the characters so you might feel a little out of the loop if you havent read book one.
If you have read

book one then youll feel right at home as Polly, her boyfriend Huckle and her puffin Neil live out their idyllic life on a tiny Cornish island as Polly runs the local bakery.
  Trouble is on the horizon though as the owner of the bakery passes away and Polly finds it under new ownership who have very different views on what makes a good bakery.
Its got the same charm as the first book and I loved the first half of the book but I have to admit to finding the latter half less engaging.
  It was very reminiscent of book one, almost too much so and some of the story felt a little bit samey,   I hate saying that about a Jenny Colgan book but in this case I felt there was something missing to drive the story onward, It seemed to almost have too much going on and many of the story threads I wanted to explore seemed to stop short so we could follow ones we already had in the first book.
  I wanted to spend time on Nan the Van and Pollys business venture and less on other aspects, Its a nice easy going read and leaves a warm fuzzy feeling as Colgans books often do and if you liked book one Im sure youll find lots to enjoy its purely that I felt her other series have been better as sets than this one had turned out.
The author is so talented in her descriptions that the book had a strong visual impact on me, I truly felt I had lived through the terrific storm in it with the town's people, As in Colgan's other books, the characters are very human and flawed and real and lovable, none the less, I always regret when I come to the end of one of her books because I want to know what happens to all these people years down the road.
I feel such a strong connection to all of them, Awful book. I recently read the first book in this trilogy which was also my first book from this author, Despite the many typos and poorly edited work of the first book I loved it, However this one is severely lacking and just depressing, the first almostpages of the book which is most of it, is negative and unhappy, Not good for a book which is meant to lift your spirits with a summer theme, : gosh this book was high drama, high aww factor and a big dose of food description to make you go rushing to the bakers all mixed in together and then baked in a big Cornish Coastal oven! I loved revisiting the Little Bech Street Bakery, this book was always going to make me smile, and not just because I got to see Neil the Puffin again his story line in this book by the way amazing!

It was great to be back with Polly again.
She is a great character because she's so optimistic and so hopeful for herself and the people around her, She needs a lot of determination to cope with everything that is thrown at her in this book and boy does she have it in spades! She never gives up and she is a true friend to those around her.
Of course I've already mentioned Neil, He is just ace and is a very close runner up for main character in this novel and the previous one as a far as I am concerned.
I loved the ending that Neil got, it literally couldn't have been perfect and that's all you need to go,

In terms of make characters in this book, there is the hero and the villain and they play their parts just beautifully, Our hero does everything he can to make Polly happy, right up until the last page and some of the things he does for everyone around him will literally have you swooning over this novel! The villain in this book is also truly villainous and totally unexpected for a Jenny Colgan novel.
He tries to thwart Polly and her happily ever after at every turn and again, does so right up until the final page or so!

Again the setting of this novel is fabulous,in really must get down and visit that part of the world and see this beautiful but dangerous coast line and of course take a trip by the puffin sanctuary to see if I can see Neil's mates! The description of the setting is just gorgeous, as is the description of the food.
This book will have you jumping in the car to head down to Cornwall via several bakeries and possibly making your own yeast cultures on the way! I really enjoyed this novel, it is a perfect read for summer and definitely something you should be picking up to help you cope with the miserable British weather!.
