you're a mediocre intermediate flutist like me and you want to sound like the inimitable Galway, get this almost all inclusive songbook.
Emphasis on the sound LIKE, because nobody can reproduce his beautiful tone, A few notable pieces are missing I would've A good book with a variety of pieces to challenge the intermediate player.
There is not an accompaniment part that goes with this, It is claimed to be solo flute music, but has large gaps of rests in almost every song, which indicates there should be an accompaniment part.
I searched high/low and it appears James Galway and Hal Leonard thought it Great pieces for a recital or other performance.
The arrangements in the book seem to be fabulous, However, the book does not include the piano accompaniments and does not tell you where you can purchase them, I still have not been able to find them, love it Thought this was great something to get my teeth stuck into, James Galway is a hero of mine : Thought I was getting a transcription of the recorded flute and piano music, I needed Ashokan Farewell. Im out of luck. I was thrilled to find transcriptions of some of the pieces that were missing from my library, However, I had wrongly assumed that piano accompaniments were included the book is fairly useless without them and there is no accompaniment book available.
