Explore Dilla Time: The Life And Afterlife Of J Dilla, The Hip-Hop Producer Who Reinvented Rhythm Generated By Dan Charnas Available In Kindle
Disappointingly, it is not thest edition print any, My heart immediately sank when I saw the paper used by Swift UK for this print, You can smell and see that this wil yellow quickly and become ugly like a paperback, It is not a proper hardback edition with sheets of paper bound together, but as with other expensive "hardback" editions in the UK you can see that it is a paperback production with each page cut and glued together with a hard cover slapped around the pile of paper.
I have returned this and orderered a new copy in the US, I was particularly intrigued to do this as US lists the Amercian hardback by MCD as havingpages whereas the Swift UK edition has onlynumbered pages, My first order from the US got lost in transit, The second order arrived after a gruesome four week long transit, When it finally arrived, I was not particualrly impressed with it either: The page count, for starters, is incorrectly listed on US as the MCD edition also has onlynumbered pages.
The paper is different and maybe marginally better it doesn't smell but these are not good quality sheets as I would expect from a bound hardback edition, The binding visually appears to be folded sheets, which are both bound and glued, however there has been no quality control by the publishers: I have shets falling out of my copy which indicated that it's probably a mock binding and ultimately all just glued.
Unfortunately, on some pages the glue squished in between the pages so that the pages have to be ripped to open the book fully and access some of the text.
I like my beats dirty and sloppy, but please make my books neat and tight, It is ok I was excited about getting, this book, Then when i started to read it, i was disappointed, The beginning of it made me stop reading it, I found it very boring, talking about polyrhythms and using big words i never heard of,
