Enjoy For Free A Wicked Persuasion Assembled By Catherine George Available As Manuscript
good read.
years ago James and Harriet fell in love and planned to live together while she finished college.
But her father found out and threatened Harriet into leaving James, James was brokenhearted and immediately leaves town,
Having no way to find James, Harriet moves on with her life never forgiving her father, In order to fullfill her mother's dying wish for the manor home, Harriet takes over the financial end of things which leads her to have to find ways for it to make money.
Renting out her family home brings James back into her life,
Harriet still feels something for him but knows he is seeking revenge, She keeps her cool and is civil to him, believing he is entitled to some revenge, But James can't help but admire Harriet's cool and honesty, . . and the two start to fall in love again, but James wants to know the real reason Harriet left him, . will Harriet confess all and take a chance on a future The romance was dedicated to Jane I assume referring to Jane Austen as it was noted by the author as a contemporary version of Austen's Persuasion.
As with most imitations of the Great One, it fell short, The story was bland, uninspiring, the heroine irritated me with her meekness and timidity, There was no chemistry, no spark, leído abrilA flame that never died, . .
One glimpse of James Crawford's roguish goodlooks sparked a fire in young heiress Harriet Wilde that burned redhot until her father forced her to break off the relationship.
No way was his daughter going to dilute the family line!
Ten years later, . .
James, now the head of a multimillionpound empire, returns to get revenge on the woman who thought she was too good for him.
He'll make her feel every ounce of the humiliation he once did, But he only succeeds in fanning the flames of a fire he'd thought long dead, . . Another short story I skimmed through, lol, Now I sort of think that short romance isn't my thing as I seem to lose connection and not to feel fully immersed in the story enough.
Ive read a couple of books by this author and enjoyed them but this was a real disappointment, The original premise was so ridiculously melodramatic and class ridden that I struggled to suspend disbelief,
I simply couldnt identify with Harriet or her family, They were awful and she had been a stupid doormat, I do not have any I empathy for someone who feels a house is so important, she would sacrifice herself for it.
I found her continual negative attitude and unpleasant behaviour towards James utterly adolescent, The idea that ayear old woman would be so petulant and childish simply irritated me, James acknowledged pretty early on how much she had affected him, but she just continued to mistrust him,
James was underwritten and I didnt understand why he would even be interested in this boring woman.
As for her not telling him the truth about why shed given him up that was the most incredible thing to swallow in the whole book!
There were far too many characters and the entire story dragged.
I gave up and skimmed this one, A disappointment for me.
I like this author because of her usually witty and a bit humorous dialogue, which none I found here.
Kind of a contemporary version of Austen's Persuasion noted by author, It moved a bit slow and you don't get much of a current connection between the two main characters, but I can see the parallels to a regency story especially in both their families which helped it for me.
Worth a read, but not outstanding,
Side note: Another cover that is wrong, I do like the pose/styling, but his coloring isn't correct to his description, Big peeve. .stars A light retelling of Persuasion, Harlequinstyle,
I quite enjoyed this overall, a lot of readers seemed to dislike the ordinariness of the story and setting, but I didnt mind that at all.
However, the story meanders and there are just too many family members muddling things up, which is where more boldly straying from the source material would have served this novel better.
Still, I appreciate what the author did, her humorous tone comes through even as the H/h are at loggerheads, the father/daughter arc was nice, and I rooted for the HEA.
The ridiculous modern cover for this story and authors style makes me laugh, though, SYNOPSIS: A flame that never died One glimpse of James Crawfords roguish goodlooks sparked a fire in young heiress Harriet Wilde that burned redhot until her father forced her to break off the relationship.

Hell make her feel every ounce of the humiliation he once did, But he only succeeds in fanning the flames of a fire hed thought long dead
I had to force myself to read this book and I thought of giving it up a few times, but I persevered.
Wicked Intentions, which is loosely based on Jane Austens Persuasion is definitely not going to have a place on my favorite books shelf.
I liked none of the characters
Harriet was a total doormat and so spineless taking on the responsibilities for her really awful father, her selfish sisters was just beyond me.
And how quickly she gave up the guy she supposedly loved so quickly was so weird,
James geez English heroes dont do it for me!!!!!! Nothing more can I say about this guy.
There was no chemistry, tensionzipp between them and the whole story had more about her family and the house and and and.
where was the romance
Boring plot that just dragged on and on, This book I did not enjoy reading,
Harriet and James were together ten years ago, they loved each other deeply but Harriet's father had other ideas.
So she threaten to press charges against James if she did not leave him, So in order to protect James, she left him and in turn, he left her,
Ten years later James is back and he still has feelings for Harriet but they have both changed.
James presents himself to Harriet every chance he can get, trying to find out why she left him, He tracks her down and every twist and turn confronts her,
Harriet thinks he is just out for revenge, even when they sleep together, All of a sudden he wants to purchase the home she grew up in, Now Harriet needs to decide if he past love and current love for James is enough to forgive and forget.
Although this wasn't one of my favorite stories it was still a good read, I couldn't exactly relate to Harriet but I understand what she did and why she did it, As for James, even when Harriet thinks he's out for revenge, he just seems like and upset typical male.

And spent a lot of lonely evenings in between the reunions when her husband came home on leave, "Instead of reading other people's novels all the time," he suggested one day, "why not have a shot at writing one yourself" So Catherine did.
But first she took a creative writing course, Encouraged by the other students' enthusiasm for her contributions, she decided to try her hand at romance, and read countless Mills Boon novels as research before writing one herself.
Her first novel was accepted in, which Romantic Times voted best of its genre for that year, along with than sixty written since.
These days son and daughter have fled the nest, but they return with loving regularity to where Catherine and her husband back for good from his travels live, with Prince, the most recent Labrador, in a house built at the end of Victoria's reign in four acres of garden on the cliffs between the beautiful Wye Valley and the River Severn.
