Examine The Passion Of An Angel Depicted By Kasey Michaels Presented In Ebook
enjoyed this story of the of attraction two total opposites, Prudence nicknamed Angel and Banning a straight laced Marquis, At, Banning Talbot was obligated to serve as guardian to a friend's sister, Prudence MacAfree was from her grandfather's farmyet she conquered London with her unconventional beauty, But it was Prudence's guardian, Banning, who claimed her with a kiss, Now, how could she possibly reveal why marriage between them was unthinkable, stars. Don't know why I passed this author until now, it was such a pleasant read, even laughed a couple of times, Will move her other books up higher on my TBR pile,
Loved not only H and h, but also Banning's friends, and Rexford, especially! Would have loved to see more of Freddie and Robert, Full of banter and laughter, It borders the silly in the most inspiring way, I loved this book. Kasey Michaels is one of my favorite authors and her writing is superb, When reading her books, I often laugh so hard, my husband thinks I'm a little nuts, This book was no exception,
Story Background: Banning Talbot, Marquess of Daventry gets "tricked" into promising Colonel Henry MacAfee a man he has only known for three days if anything happens to him during the coming battle of Waterloo Banning will become the guardian of MacAfee's little sister, Prudence also known as Angel.
Well, of course "something" does happen to MacAfee and Banning finds himself with a little ward,
Coincidentally, Banning has to take some time recovering from injuries he suffered during the battle of Waterloo, plus his sister is recovering from a lengthy illness, so he puts off getting in touch with Prudence/Angel for one year after returning from the war.
Finally, he decides to go pick up the little girl at her country home where she lives with dear old grandpa so that he can bring her to London to live with his sister.
Only Angel isn't so little after all, In fact, she's a healthy scrumptiousyear old girl, Although Banning has been sending money to support Prudence, her grandfather has never passed any benefit of the money to her, In fact, she lives in a terribly run down home with a leaky roof, very little food, rags for bedding and only boys' clothing, Her life has been very difficult and she's not happy with her guardian, But, she is a survivor and what a feisty, young woman she is! She can hold her own with the best of them including the chaperone Banning brought to assist him whom Prudence immediately begins calling the "Lizard.
"
Banning tries to make things right and immediately puts her in his carriage to take her to London so that she can be groomed by his sister for a proper Season which includes outfitting her in beautiful clothing, making sure she has dance lessons, a voucher for Almack's everything she needs to help her find a husband.
After all, that's what one did for women during that period marry them off to the most suitable candidate if they were lucky, Ah, but the little hoyden has a few burrs up her saddle and she can't go quietly into this life without stirring the pot a few times, She is a master manipulator and her ability to set everyone on their heads is super enjoyable and funny mostly as it relates to her dealings with Banning,
Banning isyears old and soon realizes he has a strong attraction to Prudence, This causes him no end of guilty feelings due to the age difference and the fact he is her guardian, so he decides he will get her off his hands as quickly as possible.
He stays away from her for days at a time, only to find himself right back in her life and slowly getting in further and further over his head, Of course, this is where the story really gets interesting, Although she is much younger than Banning, she is wise beyond her years in street smarts and in her ability to manage people,
There is a "mystery man" in the book but as most reviewers have mentioned, the reader pretty much figures out his identity and what his game is almost as soon as he is introduced.
There are lots of minor characters which serve to add luster and give this book the necessary depth for a great story Banning's jewel of a sister who allows Prudence to wrap her around her little finger, Banning's two best friends who are a comedy act all by themselves, his valet and his valet's friend, a rake in the process of being reformed who courts Prudence and last but not least, Banning's past love who turned down his marriage proposal a couple of years in the past and now decides she wants him.
Some things we thought to be true don't turn out to be so true after all but that part is fluff compared to the romance, the laughter and the ups and downs in the relationship between Banning and his Angel.
What a book! I'm thinking about reading it again tonight, Thank you Kasey Michaels you are one gifted writer,.Empieza bien pero en su último tercio se vuelve sumamente repetitiva,
Teniendo en cuenta que cada vez que me hago más vieja odio más a las parejas con mucha diferencia de edad, sobre todo si ella es muy jovencita, reconozco que la pareja está bien porque ella no es ninguna estúpida y está bien avispada.
Pero al final demasiado pensamiento repetitivo "que me va a odiar cuando se entere de mis secretos" y así "ad nauseabundan", Once again Kasey Michael's magic touch has been applied to yet another wonderful book, love her Historical books as they are filled with gentleman and ladies who often don't behave the way gentleman and ladies should, The stories are told with wit and charm and make for a very enjoyable read, Overlong amp tedious and the female protagonist is a lying shrew, This book is hard to like,.stars
Banning is in the army and has befriended a fellow officer, When they find out that they are to engage at Waterloo, the other gentleman finesses Banning into being the guardian for his little sister, whom he calls Angel, The gentleman dies, and Banning ends up being guardian to the young lady, Almost a year later, after his sister volunteers to raise the child and bring her in to society, Banning goes to bring the girl back to London with him, But things aren't what they seem, and Banning might be setting London on its ear,
Prudence has been under the not so loving care of her grandfather, and hasn't seen anything from her guardian, When he shows up, clearly expecting someone a lot younger, Prudence wants to send him on his way, But when she learns that he has been sending an allowance for almost a year, and that her grandfather has been hoarding it, Prudence decides to go to London and have her debut.
She has plans and secrets, and Banning isn't supposed to be part of her future, but things may not turn out the way she had planned,
The interactions between Banning and Prudence were funny and sweet, even when they were fighting, Maybe especially when they were fighting, Banning was determined to do right, even if it suffocated him, and Prudence was just trying to hold on to who she was while trying to fit in with the London crowd.
The secondary characters were well drawn, and the inevitable misunderstanding wasn't drawn out, Also, props to the fact that Banning didn't let the misunderstanding fester, and actually did something constructive to end it,
All in all, enjoyable with amusing bits, even if the ending was predictable, Started
off really liking this book, Then it evolved into pure silliness, I enjoyed the book, although I skimmed through at least the last half, I'm marking this as astar because Goodreads says "It was ok",
This book was exactly thatokay, The beginning had promise with the whole periodheroinewearingshockingbreeches trope, I loved Angel's brash behavior with Banning but once it hit the middle point it went flat, They were already in love halfway through the book but the author tortured us with a secret I'd guessed, . . you guessed it, halfway through the book, While the dialogue was sometimes amusing, too many pages were wasted on the hero's birdbrained friends, And the love scenes were largely skipped, With a title including "Passion" in it, I expected more, The best Kasey Michaels book I have read to date, I have read aboutof her books, I have given her books only's , the ones that I have read, Kasey Michaels is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of thanbooks she doesnt count them, Kasey has received three coveted Starred s from Publishers Weekly, two for the historical romances, THE SECRETS OF THE HEART and THE BUTLER DID IT, and a third for contemporary romance LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY that shows diversity, you see.
