and Beautiful

Loved this short and sweet and crazy story, Touches very delicate situations and covers all points of view, as well as the budding romance between the two main characters.
My most favorite story from Dev Bentham so far! :

Mike and Gabe were wonderful MCs!! Trevor pissed me off throughout the whole story, but near the ending even he became kinda sympathetic.
As well as some other previously homophobic town people,

I loved the story and I loved the real feeling in it, the author's voice was great.
Highly recommended! I love it when tough subjects are tackled, Also, the setting was beautiful contrasted with the ugliness that was going on, I don't know what took me so long to read this book, but I'm glad I finally did because I finished it in one sitting and couldn't be more pleased with it.

First of all, for some reason it felt much longer than it actually is, Don't get me wrong, it didn't drag at all, but there were enough characters and subplots for a full length novel.
Secondly, I'm in love.

Oh Gabe I love him to pieces! A tormented pirate looking artist, . . I doesn't get any better than that, Of course, he needed someone very special in his life, and Mike was the perfect match for him.
There was an instant sizzling chemistry between the two of them, but it was the tenderness that accompanied their every encounter and conversation that melted my heart.
I actually reread some sentences a couple of times just to savour the moment, Last but not least, it touches upon some very important issues that will not leave you indifferent and is guaranteed to evoke a wide range of emotions.

Bottom line, I loved this book and recommend it highly to anyone looking for a more substantial read but be warned, tissues may be needed! Great story, though I think the author could have expanded certain parts of it and made it even better.
. . all in all still a great read! In a small town everyone knows your business, When your business results in having a fifteen year old son that has issues, well that doesnt make things any better.

Thats what Gabe is dealing with, Hes been exposed as a gay man to the town, Even though his wife knew before they were married, shes not admitting to it, The man he was having an affair with disavowed it, Gabe is alone and trying to raise a fifteen year old son who seems to hate him.
When the boys social worker comes to talk with Gabe about his sons activities they spark,

This was a good story, It had some interesting layers of small town life, and showed that people can be cruel to one another.
You meet some great characters, including Evan, who plays a central focus in the story, even though hes not one of the main characters.

My only real issue is that there were a few plot lines that seemed unanswered.
I wont go into them because to do so would reveal potential spoilers and Id much rather you read this story and find them out for yourself.
Its well worth the discovery,

Lucky'ssweet pea review appears at sitelink com/index . on June,This is the first book I've read from Bentham that isn't first person, I was very excited to see her tackle a book with a POV for both heroes, As usual, her prose is outstanding and the setting really comes to life, I love how many little details she always crams inI live in the northwest and I really felt she did a great job of capturing the Oregon Coast.
However, I did kind of wish the book had been a bit longerthese heroes are wrestling with some huge issues and things felt a bit rushed at times.
The one hero has a teenage son amp drama surrounding the son and parenting is a central part of the book.
At times it felt like he cared more about getting laid than fixing things with his son, but ultimately things work out in a believable way.
And what I LOVE about Bentham's writing is that she always writes imperfect heroesi, e. there ARE plenty of parents who struggle to find the right balance and they screw up and they make blunders and they don't always get parenting right.
Her worlds always feel so real to me for this reason,.stars
. Ive read this author before, This is a mm contemporary story set in the USA, Gabe is a divorced father of troubled teenager Trevor, Mike is on a summer job as Trevors councillor, Spares fly but also a twisted back story, Ill read more from this author,.stars. A refreshing storyline and realistic characters are a winning combination in Dev Benthams newest release, Painting in the Rain.
This engaging novella has an all star cast of charming characters that will steal your heart as they conquer a few challenges on their way to happily ever after.
Please click sitelinkHERE to read my review in its entirety, I really loved this story, It was my first Dev Bentham book, and I'm not sure how I missed this author before.
I'm definitely going to find more of hers to read, I tried to like this one but could not connect with the characters,

Gabe came out and got a divorce, His son Trevor didn't handled it well, blames Gabe, and openly expresses his homophobia, Trevor is attending a program for at risk kid and can use all the help he can get.
He tells his father that if he is openly seen with another man in town that he will kill him.

After receiving a death threat, most parents would have hauled their kid off to therapy.
Not Gabe. He had phone sex with Trevor's social worker from the at risk program, and they begin seeing each other on the sly.
Nope the respect train left the building, Helping teenagers is tough. They face so many dangers peer pressure, drugs, pregnancy, STDs, As a trained social worker, Mike knows all about it, Hes taken a temporary job on the Oregon coast working with atrisk kids, But when he meets Gabe, the father of one of his charges, he finds himself in another type of danger that of falling in love and getting stuck in a small, conservative town, not to mention living with an angry teenager.
And yet, hes drawn to Gabe in a way he never imagined possible,

Gabe, whose own father left before he was born, stays in a town where he no longer feels welcome.
Hes living the life of a lonely artist so that he can be a father to his son, a bond thats been threatened by divorce and Gabes public coming out.
When he meets Mike, Gabe is bowled over with a longing so deep that he finds himself willing to risk everything.

There are plenty of dangers in a small town, When a gay kid gets hurt and they refuse to leave him to his fate, Mike and Gabe may be risking more than their hearts.
