usually don't like short stories, but this one is long enough, enjoyed it. the plot had a great potential, with the heroine having pregnancy termination which you never see in a Harlequin romance, however it was kinda written as a quick novella which away all interesting aspects of the story Controlled, cynical Rafe Sandoval is shocked to discover he has a son by his late exwife, but luckily Maxs nanny, Freya Clark, is on hand for all their needs.
. . So when he hears for the second time in weeks that hes to be a father, Rafe vows this child will have two parents from the start! Okay story.
Just okay. I did like the H and I was glad there was an HEA, It was sad to read what happened to her in the past, That was tragic and I felt sorry for her, She punished herself foryears, H was actually understanding and it surprised me, The little boy Max was very cute,

This story packed a lot of punch for as short as it was, Plenty of emotion to go all around, Rafe was kind of a hard ass in the beginning, as he worked through his

betrayal at finding out he was a father and his asshole ex wife chose not to ever let him know.
I wish this part of the story had been explained a bit better, I still don't understand his ex wife's reasoning for that hateful, manipulative move, and I wish her lack of involvement in her child's life had been fleshed out more too.
Freya's history was sad and her guilt, shame and regret felt entirely realistic, These two characters came together and fell in love a little too easily by the ending though, That being said, I still enjoyed this short little story,

The tension sexual and otherwise was exciting and gripping, The H was cold and distant without being really cruel or disparaging, I liked the hs persona as he saw her cool and unemotional but hiding secrets certainly not encouraging trust, Certainly the mcs and their connection had a fresher quality,

Her secret when revealed was certainly terrible, I liked that she was just as much a victim as well as a participant, That makes for a more real person, with weaknesses and wrong choices, Of course, some parts make her unlikable for many readers, But I kept thinking of her as a real person and I felt that she had suffered enough and deserved some peace and happiness.
And happily the H was the right person to make that happen for her,

Only if the ending had not been seemed like a rushed wrapup, conveniently ticking the boxes, The last/rd lacked the quality and grip of the earlier writing,
