qué clase de libro! Me sorprendió, . .

When Sidonie Forsythe's sister, Roberta cannot pay the gaming debts owing to Jonas Merrick, Sidonie comes up with a plan, She offers herself in payment, Jonas Merrick is a bastard, and rich, There is no love lost between him and his cousin William, Sidonie's brotherinlaw, But Jonas proposes a new bargain, If Sidonie spends another six nights at the Castle with him, Jonas will write off her sister's debts,

The opening scene as the heroine arrives at the forbidding Castle Craven on the South Devon Coast is fantastic, evocative, After that wonderful, initial scene the gothic atmosphere loses some of its momentum, swallowed up in the romance and love scenes for the longest time, However, it was the second half of the book that the story really came alive for me and I enjoyed immensely, There was way more happening with the focus no longer on just Jonas and Sidonie,

I had thought Jonas was going to be a dark, sinister lordofthegothicmanor type, He's a bit of a loner in an outoftheway mansion, He is reputedly ruthless and has a scarred, unattractive face, But I thought he was a nice guy and not particularly scary or mean, He was sensitive, kind and understanding,

Though I enjoyed this novel, there were a few things that didnt quite make sense to me, However, the story and romance was enough for me to overlook these few quibbles,

The writing as you'd expect from Anna Campbell is polished and smooth, In the first half the romance was lovely with two likable leads, And the sexy times were steamy and delicious, We meet two more

bastards Cam Rothermere and Richard Harmsworth whom I'm guessing will be the heroes in following books,

Overall, Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed is a very good story and a great beginning to a new series,

Im your payment, Mr Merrick, When notorious Jonas Merrick finds the wife of his greatest enemy up to her neck in debt to him, he offers her a bargain she can work off the debt.
. . in his bed. But Jonas is more than a little surprised when her innocent, naive sister arrives in her place, bravely offering herself to the scarred, brooding rake, Unexpectedly moved by young Sidonies beauty, innocence and wit, the ruthless loner finds her seduction a much more compelling prospect, Instead of a martyr in his bed, he wants seven days to make her come willingly, But when the week is up and the world intrudes will beauty claim her beast So bummed, I LOVE Beauty and the Beast stories, and Anna Campbell is usually a sure thing for me,

I don't know what happened here, but I felt like I'd been hit by a swinging heavy bag with the plot, the characters and the writing itself.
And all by aboutinto the book,

Gonna call this "Judith McNaughtitis" or "Lisa Kleypasitis", Overwrought, over the top. Not that I usually object to that, but in this instance it really isn't working for me,
Oh my, I started reading this book with low expectations because quite a lot of my friends gave it a not so good review, but I am pleasantly surprised to say that I quite enjoyed this book.

The scarred hero has suffered most of his life, His parents marriage was considered illegal and he became a bastard from the age of, Life was very black after that, . . But the worst part of all was his mean cousin, who was his worst enemy,

Due to the title of this book, I thought the story would be completely different than what it actually was, This was about trust, about not believing that you could be loved, about not trusting in love, about making decisions that would change the lives of a lot of people, about honor, domestic violence, desperation.
About the lengths a person would go to help her sister,

There were things that made me want to hit the hero and others the heroine, But I enjoyed seeing their lives and hoping for a HEA,
