Take Advantage Of Kate Douglas: A 2-Book Bundle Lethal Deception And Lethal Obsession Produced By Kate Douglas Displayed As Print

preferred the second book to the first in this bundle, I found the first story a little too saccharin sweet with the characters not having as much depth to them, The second book Lethal Obsession appealed to me more as the characters were more flawed and it was a much more grittier story, The villain was more menacing and the suspense and fear was palpable, I received a copy of thisbook bundle through NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased review,

The first book, entitled Lethal Deception, involves the story of an insurance agent named Rose De Angelo, The company she works for insures transporters who need to more highlevel goods, However, things are not going well as almost all her clients have had been getting their valuable shipments hijacked, To make things worse, she has become the main suspect as only her clients seem to be getting hijacked, Mike Ramsey is an investigator with the Dept, of Transportation and is hot on her trail,

As Ramsey works undercover as a driver, he witnesses an accident that involved a woman, He tries his best to save the lady only to find that she is Rose De Angelo herself, Mike suspects she is about to inform her accomplices about the route he is taking, Both end up travelling together in Ramsey's truck Mike falls for his suspect and Rose falls for her driver savior, And when the hijackers do appear, they both get the surprise of their lives,

The second book, entitled Lethal Obsession, is about Mike Ramsey's partner in the first book, Kat Malloy, She is still grieving as the man she loved, Riley O'Rourke, has just been killed in a car accident when she meets his brother, Seamus O'Rourke, When Seamus finds out she is pregnant with Riley's child, he is at first unbelieving that Kat is telling the truth because both he and his brother suffer from an infertility problem.

As Seamus tries to take Kat home after she suffers from a bad bout of morning sickness at Riley's funeral, he finds that her apartment has been badly torched and thrashed by a stalker.
He suddenly feels that he should try to protect Riley's child as much as he could, if the child really is Riley's, Seamus takes Kat to his home while her apartment is in bad shape, At Seamus home, Kat's stalker makes his presence felt and the two are forced to move to Seamus' childhood home, Seamus finds himself falling for his brother's girl and Kat finds herself drawn to a man who is only after her child, But the stalker is still out there and has found out where they are hiding,

Thisbook bundle is a good read, It has a lot of excitement and a lot of romance, However, I find the second book much more exciting than the first, Kate Douglas does a good job though the story in the first book is not as absorbing as that of the second,

full of action and suspense kept you guessing through both books its the first time ive read any of kate Douglas earlier work and i have to say its good! In book one of this bundle, Lethal Deception, we meet Rose DeAngelo.
Rose is an insurance agent that insures highlevel trucking shipments, Problem is, Rose's shipments keep getting hijacked, Mike Ramsey is an investigator for the Department of Transportation, Mike thinks the hijacks are an inside job and suspects Rose DeAngelo, In fact, she's at the top of his list,

Through a wild twist of events leading to a car accident, Mike comes to rescue Rose and then figures out he's just recused his prime suspect.
But Rose has no idea, After some healing and Rose's need to get from Pittsburgh to California to see her aunt, Mike arranges for Rose to travel with him crosscountry while his partner, Kat Malone follows at a distance, so Mike can investigate Rose during the trip.

Romantic feelings ensue, Mike becomes torn between his job and his feelings for Rose, Rose doesn't understand why Mike's attraction to her is distanced,

Overall, Lethal Deception is a good read, It takes up aboutof the two book bundle so it's just slightly shorter than Lethal Obsession, There are books that take me forever to finish and review and there are those I can't put down, give up sleep for, and write the review as soon as I read the last page because I just MUST get my thoughts out.

With Lethal Deception, it was a moderately quick read, nothing I stayed awake for but I did have to finish both books fairly quickly to get my thoughts down.
In hindsight, I should have reviewed this book prior to reading Lethal Obsession and then gone back to make the comparison of the two books afterward as reading both consecutively somewhat forced the comparison while reading Lethal Obsession.

Because I liked the characters and the ending, I give this one, stars.

In book two, Lethal Obsession, we are reintroduced to Kat Malone, Mike Ramsay's Department of Transportation partner, We find her living in California and seeing Riley O'Rourke, whom she fell for at the end of Lethal Deception, That was a minor mention and not a spoiler, We find Kat standing alone and backed away from Riley's graveside service, Riley is now dead. Killed in a car accident, Riley was also married. Kat was the outsider. As Kat gives up and walks away from the service, she bumps into Seamus O'Rourke, Riley's TWIN brother, And boy do they look alike!

But Kat has some other secrets, Not SPOILERS. Kat is pregnant with Riley's child which Seamus doesn't believe because of Riley and Seamus's infertility issues, Kat also has someone stalking and trying to kill her, In order to protect Riley's child, if it is Riley's child, Seamus takes Kat in, and hides her through her pregnancy in order to protect her,

Naturally, things go batshit crazy, And of course there are romantic feelings on both sides going unconfessed because Kat and Seamus are both stubborn,

Overall, I liked this book about as much as I liked Lethal Deception, I rated Lethal Obsession.and averaged the two out to four for the bundle, The reason I took away the for the second book is that there is a distinctive scene NOT written IN FULL into the book and I disliked that immensely.

I received an Advanced Reading Copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review, Two strong heroines, two unlikely romances, and nonstop suspense make for two great novels!

In Lethal Deception, Rose DeAngelo knows that insuring highlevel shipments is a risky business, but when hijackers start lifting loads and injuring drivers and the string of thefts seems squarely targeted at her clients, she starts to feel the heat.
Especially when all the signs point to her as the primary suspect, To investigator Mike Ramsey, it looks like a clearcut case of an inside job, As the two are thrown together to find out whos behind the dangerous crimes, each harboring doubts about the other, their suspicions mount even as an undeniable passion grows between them.
But what neither of them realizes is that the hijackers are closing in, and Rose and Ramsey will be forced to trust each other and join forces or risk losing everything, including each other.

In Lethal Obsession, Kat Malone has always been a tough and focused undercover agent, and over the years shes made a lot of enemies, Now one of them is back and stalking her viciously, bent on revenge, Proper and prudish Seamus ORourke has spent his life cleaning up the messes of his twin brother, Riley, and it turns out one of those messes is Kat Malone.
Reluctant to help her but shocked by the depravity of her sadistic stalker, Seamus takes on the role of Kats protector, Forced into hiding following a deadly attack, tensions mount and passions flare as Kat is faced with the stunning depth of her stalkers madness and Seamus must find the strength and determination to protect the woman hes grown to love.
.
I was in a mood for some romantic suspense, This was in Read Now section NetGalley at one time and I have no idea what made me download it,

Lethal Deception
After Ramsey saves Rose from a car accident and realized that it is the woman he came to investigate, he gets a new passenger from Pittsburgh to California.
He has to use this opportunity to find out as much as possible about hijacking connected with the insurance company where Rose works, There is absolutely nothing special about the story,
I didn't like the writing 'She couldn't be a thief, Unless he counted the way she'd stolen his heart, '. Rose is one of those characters who stops breathing, I am sure you know the type, And from everything we are told about her by the author and Ramsay, you'd expect someone more mature,
Speaking of Ramsey, he is a gem, 'Ramsey knew women like her used their assets, How else could she have climbed the corporate ladder' I don't know, Ramsey! Worked harder than others maybe!
Everything about these two and their romance is cheesy.
You might have noticed I haven't said much about the suspense part, Nothing much there unless you count their monologues whether she is a thief or not, whether he acts weird or not, how much he/she loves her/him.

Lethal Obsession features Ramsey's partner, Kat Malone and a brother of a guy she was interested in in Lethal Deception, It starts way better than the first story, You find out how the cute FBI agent from the first book is a cheating bastard with a wife, And Kat found that out in his obituary, What a great guy. It's not a spoiler since it happens in the first few pages of the story,
Enter Seamus O'Rourke, Riley's brother, A tougher version. He finds out that Kat has a stalker who is getting out of hand and decides he has to protect her,
We have instant something between them,

There are three POVs: Kat's, Seamus's and the stalker's, There are so many TSTL people, but Kat Malone is definitely one of the dumbest and the most annoying female characters I've ever read about,

Add to all this unexpected and unnecessary ghosts or voices the characters hear at one time or another and you'll understand why I couldn't like this book.
It is as if the author wasn't quite sure what kind of story she wants, There is nothing is either
