This book is so good!! I enjoyed this novella so much!! Its a must read! I would recommend this book, Really good story and start to the series, Such a perfect couple! Originally appeared in the ebook anthology All I Want for Christmas Is a Cowboy,
Jennifer Ryan, author of the New York Times bestselling The Hunted Series and the upcoming Montana Men Series, takes us to the very beginning in this Christmas prequel about two people who finally receive the one thing they've always wanted each other.
Though she is the woman of his dreams, Caleb Bowden knows his best friend's sister, Summer Turner, is offlimits, He won't cross that line, Summer shares a connection with Caleb she's never felt with anyone else, but the stubborn man refuses to turn their flirtatious friendship into something more, Summer will have to take matters into her own hands if she wants her cowboy for Christmas, review to come Excellent quick read that introduces us to many of the characters in the Hunted series, Caleb and Summer have a connection from the moment they met she to him she is definitely off limits, She is his best friends sister and he won't cross that line, When she's had enough of waiting for him she pushes the limits to get him to admit he wants her, This one is excellent and I highly recommend it!
Caleb knows what he wants, but going after his best friend's little sister is against the rules, However, Summer doesn't care about his misplaced sense of loyalty, and she's not about to let Caleb's friendship with her brother get in the way of the relationship she wants.
The Verdict: Novellas are tough for me because they often either feel rushed or I'm left wondering where the rest of the story is, However, this was one of the few I could really get into and enjoy, In having the characters already in love but unwilling to admit it, the foundation for their relationship had already been well established, and this novella simply let us in on their finally giving into their feelings.
Caleb is dealing with the usual issue of having fallen in love with his best friend's little sister, but he's also got some leftover baggage from war, and he's not handling it well at all.
Summer, however, isn't going to let her life be decided by her big brother, and she's strong enough to stand up to Caleb's stubborn side,
The story is quick, of course, but lots of fun as Caleb tries to deal with Summer living on the ranch with him as his best friend remains completely clueless about their feelings for each other.
There's plenty of awkwardness, banter, a headstrong heroine, and ultimately steamy moments to keep us entertained, and despite it's short length, it's a great little holiday story, originally appeared on sitelinkBrooke Blogs,
Can't Wait by Jennifer Ryan is a Christmas novella that doesn't shy away from hard issues, Often, a holiday story, especially a novella length story, tends to be more positive, upbeat or humorous, This story has characters that are back from the war in Afghanistan and are suffering from nightmares and having trouble adjusting to civilian life, Caleb is not sure how to go on with life outside of a war zone, He is sleep deprived and just feeling lost in life, Summer is his breath of fresh air, even if he refuses to acknowledge it at first, Her brother served with him and they are best friends, and Caleb doesn't want to risk the friendship even if Summer is what he needs to survive,
I really loved this heartwrenching, contemporary holiday novella, The characters are believable and welldeveloped, I felt myself transported to the ranch at Christmas time, wishing I could help Caleb and Summer's brother, Jack quit being so stubborn, Can't Wait by Jennifer Ryan is the perfect read for a snowy holiday afternoon, It is a quick but engrossing read that shows you a man who bares his soul and the woman who is strong enough to take care of him,
I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review, My opinion was not influenced in any way, Great characters. This is a novella I loved, I struggle with short books because I often feel let down, Not this time. The characters were in love to start the book but neither had admitted as much, The whole story was the resistance to their relationship,
I loved these characters, Caleb came back from Iraq with some baggage and he's not really dealing with it well, But he's not going to date his best friends sister, Not after that best friend shared so much with him overseas, But a determined sister might have something to say about it, Summer is strong and I loved how she handled both Caleb and her brother Jack,
I think I loved Jack so much because he was clueless about how his best friend and sister felt, Jack and Caleb worked together on the ranch with Summer living on the property but it never even crossed his mind that there were feeling between them, So male.
The story is quick and thank goodness, I'm not sure I could take much more of Caleb's resisting before I crawled in the book and smacked him, I love him. Yes, he's stubborn but once Jack knew, Caleb as adorable, AND there's a bunch of the story after the resistance ends, I love that when a book lets us see them happy for more than a couple of pages, YAY.
A great Christmas novella that I read in an evening and was so satisfied when I turned the last page, Can't Wait is a very quick but enjoyable Christmas story with well developed character!
This book centers around Summer who is in love with Caleb, her brother's best friend.
Caleb wants Summer too but he doesn't want to act on his feelings for his best friend's little sister, Not only is it against the brocode but Jack saved Caleb's life when they were serving together in Iraq, Caleb is working on Jack's ranch and it's become harder and harder to stay away from summer especially when she's determined to be with him,
For such a short story the characters were remarkably well developed, I really liked Caleb, Summer and Jack, It was a sweet Christmas story with a wonderful dialogue, fun banter, and a great romance, It's hard for me to really enjoy novella's since the characters are usually under developed and the relationship is very unbelievable but not in this case, I really enjoyed this story and will be reading more Jennifer Ryan in the future, Read the full review on sitelinkBookaholics NotSoAnonymous,
Can't Wait is the prequel novella to the Montana Men series from bestselling author Jennifer Ryan and was originally part of the All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy anthology.
Here we meet Caleb Bowden and Summer Turner, two people who have very mutual feelings for one another, but Caleb's loyalty to Summer's brother Jack prevents him from wanting more than friendship with Summer.
Even though what they feel is beyond a mere crush or even purely lust, Caleb chooses his friendship with Jack over Summer,
You can't help but feel bad for both Caleb and Summer because it's pretty clear that they're more than in like with each other, I did feel worse for Summer than Caleb because it's heartbreaking to know that the man you're in love with doesn't want to take the risk required to be with you.
Had either of them broached the idea of becoming a couple with Jack, then maybe they would have been spared all that wasted time and wistfulness, This was a short but sweet read and a pretty good series starter, Can't Wait gets four, stars
Quick read that will get you in the holiday spirit, I enjoyed Can't Wait because protagonist Summer knows what she wants, and she isn't afraid to pursue it, What a wonderful Holiday love story! Caleb and Summer are meant to be, if only Caleb could overcome his sense of duty and honor to his best friend, Jack, Caleb, a strong, tender and sexy Hero, struggles with the demons of war, Summer, in love with her brother's best friend, tries really hard to help him see the light, She is full of life and is loving and understanding, at least to a point, It was a fairly quick read that embodies many of the traditions of the holidays that are wonderfully described by Ms, Ryan. There is laughter and fun, as well as tender moments too, I think Ms. Ryan did a good job of sharing Caleb's darkness without it becoming depressing, This is a prequel, and, having read the other stories in the Hunted series, it was a pleasure reading about Summer and Caleb after meeting them, I look forward to Gabe's story coming in! Received copy from Edelweiss for honest review Just noting I already own this as part of an ebook anthology, All I Want for Christmas Is a Cowboy, A sweet, feelgood romance and promising start to the series! I enjoyed the writing style and loved that the characters have some depth beyond simple miscommunication, Looking forward to sitelinkAt Wolf Ranch, book, I rate this novella a,rounded up toif it was fulllength, it'd be a solid! A Must Read! What a book !
“Cant Wait” is a really good book with beautiful characters! Its short enough that you ca read it I one sitting, yet the author crammed a lot of story in a smaller book ! Its love, friendship and PTSD all in one , and it makes an interesting read ! Posted on sitelinkWhat I'm Reading
I have finally got to Jennifer Ryan's Can't Wait, which was originally published in the All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy.
I have to say that Caleb Bowden is definitely a cowboy you want waiting under your tree, He's a pretty standup guy who actually follows the BroCode, You know the code that you don't go after your best friend's sister no matter what, Anyway, Summer Turner definitely wants Caleb, but there this pesky older brother that is getting in her way, It was pretty selfsacrificing of Caleb say that he wouldn't go after Summer even though he has the hots for her,
This is a pretty quick read that will get you in the mood of the holiday season, Yes, Caleb is fighting the urge to make Summer his for the sake of friendship, It's a pretty good read, and the ending is a little rush, but it's bound to happen in a novella, However, you have a super hot cowboy that is honorable, and a sappy ending that is just made for the holidays, So, if you are looking for that read that will get you wanting a cowboy for Christmas look no further and try Can't Wait,
Copy provided by Avon via Edelweiss This was cute but I needed more,
Read for RomanceopolyFarmers Market Square Sun Pack Can't Wait is sure to put its readers in an early, holiday spirit and I have to admit I adored this novella nearly as much as I did Caleb and Summer.
I am a new reader when it comes to Ryan, but I think I have missed out on so much! I absolutely was thrilled with the way she penned the romance in this novella to the point that it really doesn't get any sexier than Ryan's novels!
The romance was perfection.
It was cute, sexy and humorous, This novella contained moments of heartwarming laughter, sexy moments with a cowboy and an ending that reminds us that with a little patience sometimes those that we are waiting for will come to us.
Most of the time I do not read Christmas novels because they tend to be sappy, A holiday romance that has been repeated, but Can't Wait really stood apart from other holiday reads that I have read, Ryan really allowed the romance and the chemistry to shine throughout the pages and this was such a light and breezy read that it was actually fun to be apart of Summer and Caleb's story.
Summer, is my favorite character in this book, She is a woman that knows exactly what she wants and she really made the effort to make Caleb see that they belong together, Of course Caleb knew that he and Summer were a perfect match but I respect the fact that Caleb's bromance with Summer's brother stopped him from pursuing Summer at the very beginning.
You have to love a cowboy who is a
little old fashion because those are the best kind!
If you are a reader that is looking for a merrymaking read than Can't Wait is the perfect novella!
This review was submitted to the PUBLISHER prior to posting it on GoodReads.
I'm not normally a fan of novellas, but this just hit the right spot for me, A heartwarming read for cold, dark Winter evening,
Set during the holiday season, we meet Caleb and Summer, Caleb is a ranch foreman at Stargazer Ranch, working along side his best friend Jack, Both men served together as army rangers and have a strong brotherly bond, Summer is Jack's kid sister and a woman who knows exactly what she want from life:
“The man I want is good and kind and makes me laugh when he puts his mind to it.
He's strong and resilient. Although he's been through a rough couple of years, he wants the same thing I want for his future, A simple ranch life, living as husband and wife with our children, making a good life and growing old together, happy and in love, ”
Caleb knows he is the man Summer wants because he wants the same too, However, there is a problem, It's called Jack!
When Summer wants something, she is a force to be reckoned with! Caleb, an honorable and loyal man is torn, He wants to be with Summer, the woman he sees spending the rest of his life with, But equally doesn't want to loose his friendship with Jack because you don't date your best friends sister!
The path to the eventual HEA has its bumps with some surprises along the way.
I read this as a standalone as it's the first work I have read by this author, It was a quick read and I finished it within a couple of hours, "Can't Wait" is part of a series, so the characters are well developed, Not being familiar with the characters before reading this story didn't impede the overall enjoyment of this book if anything, it has whetted my appetite to follow them up more.
I love the author's easy writing style, it's humorous and sexy, Equally, delicate and difficult issues are dealt with sensitively taking you to the heart of the problem, without distracting us away from the overall feel good factor, I recommend to anyone that loves a story based around the holiday season, loves hot cowboys and a heroine that wont stop until she gets what she wants!
