series and author is one of my fave, in wattpad and it is up until now This book is a bit like marmite your either love it or hate it
This book was such a compelling read for me I had hard trouble putting it down.
But saying that it did have its issues which is why I was debating on what to rate it as, on one hand I really enjoyed it but I feel the story got lost a little from chapter to chapter and that the plot jumped ahead while I wasn't looking.
I think this may be because it's one of them online reads which is updated every so often and that the story writing is starting from scratch every time so that it doesn't flow as nicely or maybe due to the quickness of putting it out to the masses.
A good editor would sort these out I'm sure but maybe I'm just talking a load of rubbish, who knows But it was free and like I said it was a gripping read.
I liked the main characters Shelby and Asher and the secondary characters as well but felt because the story was written a bit introspective between the two characters like they were in their own little bubble I felt the author could of expanded a bit so we got a little more interaction with the other characters except nearer to the end when it was another characters point of view as Shelby wasn't in the picture for that so it gave us a different perspective which I enjoyed.
This book is in a world where there are carriers and breeders, again I would of liked a bit of background story of the world it was set in but Asher is the leader of the most baddest and biggest mafia group and was promised Shelby as his partner.
He's ruthless but also light hearted and can be foolish and at one stage I was thinking maybe he'd be a shifter as it kept on about his glowing eyes but nope he's just one scary man who gets blood lust.
So there was bad bits,
You had to sign up and become a follower of the author to get the restricted chapters which let me tell you for someone who's not that good at computers was a bit of a pain
The story was a bit sketchy and hit and miss that you thought you might of missed something and therefore I was scratching my head at times a little confused
There were moments in this book that could of been better explained further and story plots followed through like Shelby gets kidnapped by Asher brother Ashton and stabbed by him yet Asher and Shelby are making out straight after while he's basically still got the knife in him which I felt a bit unrealistic and also nothing is mentioned next time they see Ashton again
Would of loved more interaction with other characters and a little more world building
Didn't understand why Shelby kept calling him stupid, yeah Asher was a little childish but he could be serious
The ending didn't feel complete for me
Good points was that it was compelling to read and had good characters that I liked.
This book also played on my emotions and I have to admit I did cry near to the end which is always a sign of a good book to me as I get emotionally involved into the story.
I would describe this book a diamond in the rough meaning it has all the potential to be a stonking brilliant book if it was tidied up, but it was a good read that I did enjoy and hey it was free so you can't go much wrong, worth a read.
