it wasn't for me, All I can say is wow!! I had never read her books before and it blew me away.
The realistic draw of taking me into the story, dragging me down so I did not want to put the book down!! I am floored! I just wish I could give this more thenstars!
I love the doubts and fears of not only the pet but also of the Master.
The mystery that is also within this book that makes you want to help solve the mystery! I love how this book has a the two people turning to each other no matter the trouble that is brewing around them! I really do need to do something with my habit of forcing myself to finish a book even though i hated it.
and this what was happening when i read this book, i just thank God, this is not a lengthy book.
I was in a reading slump on fantasy genre lately, therefore i tried to have experiments with new genres, and NA was one of my top list last week.
so i browsed a few NA listopia, and found this book in one of it, At first, i felt disturbed reading the word 'master and his pet', well, but it is about a vampire, so maybe the author is using the term 'pet' for the claimed humans.
and i am such a sucker when it comes to vampire stories,
how wrong i was,
should NA felt like this book why am i feeling that this book is a lot more of an erotica genre I am okay with saucy sex scenes here and there, as long as they're supported with strong story line.
But in this book, there's an imbalance between the story and the sexual tensions, that i barely manage to enjoy it.
with it's sloppy and immature writing, like everything felt so rushed and barely important, and suddenly when it comes to sex scene, everything went into a slowmo, showing of meticulous details that i didn't see during the storytelling about these so called vampire heroes.
. . i was and still am sure that this is definitely not the genre that i was hoping for.
and i seriously hate the main character!
maybe i am new with this genre, maybe i need to give more chances for NA genre.
. . well maybe i just picked the wrong book, Ill update with a real review later but I absolutely LOVED this book, to follow soon Zari was very likeable but I was disappointed by Alexandru, Zari is a bratty "pet" with a backbone, However, Alexandru is a weak vampire unworthy of being called master, in my opinion, Anyone that is sure of their feelings and of themselves would not fear expressing themselves as he does.
At the beginning of every chapter we get a glimpse of a future conversation Zari and Alexandru are having, making it clear they eventually end up working out their differences.
So the point of each chapter was to show us progression towards the end goal, Unfortunately how they got there was rather disappointing and the cliffhanger ending felt forced,
While I started out enjoying this story, it just fell short for me on many levels.
Between the overuse of the word "cute" by Alexandru and just Alexandru as a person in general.
There was nothing done to make me even wonder what will happen next, so I won't be picking up the next book.
Really liked it. Although it's quite disturbing the whole MasterPet thing, I still enjoy it very much I love this author but have to admit that, while enjoying this new series, it is not one of my favourites of hers.
The reason that I have for this would be that Im not a fan of the lead male, Alexandru.
It would be tough to explain without reading the novel beforehand, just look towards the end and you may have a better understanding of where I am coming from.
Alexandru is a vampire and he has taken on a human pet, Zari, we first met them in Ensnared when they met.
In this instalment Zari is at a school for pets and she is not fitting in, she never has but of course she is no ordinary human pet, she is a soul seer.
Due to her kind nature she is also drawing the attention of other vampires, other vampires that would like her to become their pet instead of Alexandru.
This new story is set in the same land as The Demon Duke, infact cameos may be made!! The term heart keeper is also bandied about, a term we first came across in the Demon Duke.
I will still be reading the series, Marian Tee is, and will remain, one of the authors I will always read.
The lighthearted tone of her writing despite occasionally tackling tough issues makes her a must read in my opinion.

Extremely short read though Very moving story
This is a story about a Vampire Master Alexandru and his human Pet Zari.
But are they real Master and Pet When she finds an unsigned contract she fears the worst that he doesn't want her.
She is special in the fact that she is also a seer, But believing he doesn't want her and the vision she has in the end only makes her believe it more so.
This is a very moving story, Well written with high emotions running throughout it,
This is a new author for me and although it was a really interesting story, I did find some things that I didn't find.
. . likable
First there is the beginning of every chapter, I'm guessing it's way in the future I kept hoping the book cached up to it but it didn't so I'm guessing it's for future writing I just hope it's not a trend to the books.
I know not everybody likes those kind of cliffhangers myself included and they can get old fast.
That been said I really liked the story, I was a little skeptical what with they already been pet and master but then I realized it has a prequel so I'll be definitively going to read that.
Alexandru is a dark brooding vampire warrior who is fixed on not showing Zari how much he feels about her and in doing so she gets the wrong impression and thinks he doesn't really want her.
She for her part wants only to give her all to Alexandru even if what he wants is not what her heart desires.
I am will be reading the next book on this series to see what's coming next and will be checking out this author as well.
Beholden and His Soul Seer Pet by Marian Tee I'm gonna say I loved this, enough to give the series a chance and read the other books that surround this one, I am reading the books of Crave and this was the first one in this anthology, It was the first time that I had heard of Marian Tee, but like I said I am looking forward to reading the prelude to this story and the followup story coming in December.
