Men of Allegany County
Category: Inspirational Romance
Inspiration was the key, This was not overly preachy like some religious romance books I have read, This one however, gave bits here and there when it mattered, I could really believe the faith of the characters, I really enjoyed when a character would send a silent mini prayer when in need for calming rather than whine or cry, I was curious throughout this book of the secrets the characters held it was definitely hard to put down, The descriptions were wonderful, and the characters so very interesting, An enjoyable read. Taking Charge Of Her Heart Highpowered businessman Jeff Brennan can't figure out why he's so smitten with the town's new librarian, Hannah Moore is quiet, skittishand wants nothing to do with him, Yet as they work together on a fundraiser, Jeff resolves to discover why she came to the small New York town, Is working two jobs and tutoring kids with special needs an escape for Hannah If so, Jeff is determined to show her that love can be the most powerful healing force of all.
This was a well written story, The main character, Hannah, has a hurtful past that was surprising but made for a beautiful story of redemption, My favorite book so far from Ruth Herne! Miniseries: Men of Allegany County
Hannah Moore is quiet the perfect choice for a librarian,

Jeff Brennan cant seem to make up his mind about her, . . why did she come back to a small town to take a parttime job in a tiny library, . . and why does she work another parttime job at a candy store, . . and what is she hiding about her past

I know you dont expect me to answer any of these questions! I hope youve already picked up copies of this series, because you wont want to put this book down until you reach the very end.

Ruth Logan Herne continues to amaze me with her wonderful stories, . . and I feel confident youll feel the same way once youve read them, So dont wait another minute go get copies of this series for yourself, Even better, get all of her books, because once you begin reading books by Ruthy, youll want to read them all,
I give up. After THREE WEEKS of trying to slog my way through this and being miserable all of it, I'm done with the effort, DNF pg

The story never goes anywhere, It talks in circles without telling you anything, Hannah had a trauma. She's not okay. Jeff is too much like the last guy who may or may not be part of that trauma, we don't know, because the author DRRRRRRRRRRRAGS out the drama, not letting anyone know what the farts is going on.

Jeff likes Hannah, He gets her to go out with him, then she shuts him down, Then he gets her to go out with him, then she shuts him down, And this goes ON. And ON. And ON, world without end, until you want to beat your head against a door,

And the dialogue isn't interesting, amusing, witty, or engaging in any way, Hannah's closed up and Jeff's all business, so the writing is like this:

PgThe sights and sounds of fall leveraged her anxiety, but only if she allowed it to happen.

PgShe looked in his eyes and for the first time in ages didn't question the sincerity and integrity in another person, or the veracity of their smile.

PgShe looked flustered again, only it wasn't the insecure agitation he'd seen before, This implicit nervousness stemmed from him, . . He moved closer, watching her pretend he wasn't encroaching on her emotions, her equanimity,

pgShe disengaged herself from each twinge, taking care of customers and praying for strength, wishing for equilibrium, . . their presence precluded personal talk,

See what I mean It's clinical at worst, disengaging at best, It's not romantic or inspiring, it's, . . not in the least enjoyable, We escape into romances to feel, to sigh, to breathe in the emotion, This is devoid of ALL that would help anyone find that kind of escape, It. Is. Awful.

And I've lost THREE weeks of my Goodreads reading goal time to this stupid book, DEFINITELY time to move on, Mended hearts was such a fresh and wonderful weekend read for me, The banter between businessman Jeff Brennan and science teacher Hannah Moore held me to attention, A beautiful story of overcoming the darkness of tragedy when you let yourself accept some things we cannot change, This romance was built on patience, love, and the power of prayer, A can't put down romance, . . Honestly I didn't really care for this book, the story line of this book really reeled me in but unfortunately after reading only a few chapters I was ready for it to end.
Our main character, Hannah, seemed to mention her past on every page, Now I understand that the author wants us to be wondering what her past is and why she's troubled but she overdid it, And another thing that bothered me is the relationship between Jeff and Hannah it was a roller coaster, One minute they're friends then they hate each other, they're kissing then they aren't talking to each other they go for two weeks without talking to each other then they love each other.
I had a really hard time keeping up with them, they almost acted like teenagers, School shootings and broken families are the topics in this one, Very timely for our world, Hannah keeps to herself and that's why she loves the library, When she is approached for a fundraiser with the patron's son, she tries to get out of it but as they work together, she finds him an all right kind of man.
A few misunderstandings make them doubt each other, Hannah works to overcome her past, Librarians have long been a popular heroine in romances, No wonder. They are intelligent yet quiet, often secretly longing for a more exciting life, and coaxed to love for the first time, In Mended Hearts by Ruth Logan Herne, the librarian theme is given a contemporary twist with a heartbroken librarian who hides from the world due to headlineinspired events.
Taking inspirational romance to a new level, Hernes story demonstrates how love and friendship provide healing in the wake of tragic experiences and is a lesson to all who have isolated themselves due to their own fears.

In this gutwrenchingly wonderful romance, Herne introduces us to Hannah Moore, a recent resident of Allegany County, As someone longing to stay safe and not take risks, her thinking is challenged by a very intense yet understanding hero, Jeff Brennan, Hannah is a parttime librarian and tutor who otherwise stays uninvolved in her community, She also doesnt do romance, no way, no how, Due to manipulation on the part of wise women, she finds herself teamed with businessman Jeff on a library fundraising project, From the moment he steps into her life, she is challenged, supported and wooed in a way she hadnt thought possible, One of my alltime favorite heroes, Jeff has his own challenges to face and learns from Hannahs example as she confronts her fears and comes to terms with her past.

Mended Hearts ended too soon for me, Fortunately, Allegany County continues to be full of stories and secondary character Matt is due his own romance, I cant wait.
This was the book I was waiting on, I am so glad I bought it, I love all Ruth's books but this one is special, We met Hannah in the previous book but this book tells her story, Right from the start we know there is something more but I would never have guessed what, I wish I could discuss this book fully as we see how courageous Hannah is but I don't like giving anything away, I will say she is a lot stronger than she thinks she is and I really appreciate this story in so many ways, Jeff is a high powered business man who is cochairing a fundraising committee with Hannah neither want to do the job but they find working together they work well together.
Jeff can see there is more to Hannah than she is showing and wants to help her if she will let him, This book deals with healing and also not judging someone on appearances, Very good read.
