Concept Skill: ABCs
Things that go: Trucks
Every great author has his bad apple, The artwork is fun but the rhythm of the text is chaotic and hard to read, and the emphasis on the letters lacks and feels secondary to MAKING A LOT OF NOISE AND ACTION VROOOOOOOM! The only word for K is the truck's name Kat and Scieszka uses "wrecker" to describe the R truck which can cause confusion.
And, adding more confusion, scary Big Rig is supposedly playing a xylophone, because we all know this is the ONLY way to include X in an alphabet book.
All in all a jumbled mess of a book, too long for story time Like the New York Times bestselling Smash! Crash! and Truckery Rhymes, this trucktastic alphabet adventure is full of creativity, fun, and truckloving action!
Honk if you love trucksand get ready to play with your As, Bs, and construction Cs! This rollicking, boisterous, bold, concept picture book features your favorite Trucktown friends as they race around town, pointing out quirky items and actions that incorporate all the letters of the alphabet.
Rev your engines and get ready for rowdy fun from A to Z! RACE FROM A TO Z I dare ANY little boyor girl!to NOT enjoy this book.
There are vehicles of EVERY type racing in all kinds of situations and the fun never lets up! You feel like you're on the race yourself.
SO much fun, as is always the case with any book by Jon Scieszka! great book, great illustrations, . . may not be for those who don't like alot of noise,
like the A to Z idea, but some of the letters come up short like "V",
interesting they went with xylophone over Axle,
This is a story about a race of many intriguing work trucks through the streets of Trucktown, It becomes especially funny if children study the bold, bright, expressive illustrations and text carefully, During the truck race lots of slap stick humor is provided, The trick of Lucy Ladder Truck whizzing around a tree to dislodge a stick frightening competitor Melvin Mixer with worried eyes, to a grinding halt, is very clever.
All of the personified, lively trucks have expressive eyes headlights, mouths grills, and noses grills, or truck model labelin this hilarious story.
The reader will enjoy reading while making many loud truck sounds, VROOM!, CRASH!, HONK!, SMASH!, etc, which the happy audience will repeat throughout the story, The vehicles of Trucktown head cross the city in an epic alphabetical race!
Illustrations are good, Alphabet book for the truck lover, Sam loves pretty much EVERY book in this series Mama read this to me this morning as I got ready for school.
I love trucks, and I really like pointing at the characters on the endpapers and asking their names, I'm also learning the alphabet, so I knew some
of the letters as they came up in the book, Fun illustration and noises, but not a strong representation for the entire alphabet, Still fun for a truck loving toddler, they put Xylophone in for X which I think was kind of lazy, overall, a cogent story about a race, William loves this book he will even find a quiet corner to "read" it all by himself, I always like a Jon Sciezaka book, Good Job as always.
This is an alphabet book based on vehicles, It is colorful and very active, Cute, clever AND educational! Great choice! Jon Scieszka is an American childrens writer, best known for picture books created with the illustrator Lane Smith.
