on Wake the Hollow

can still remember hearing the story of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman as a kid and loving every minute of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Wake the Hollow takes this classic story from American literature and gives it a unique spin with a little bit of history and a whole lotta of mystery.

After the death of her mother Mica returns to her childhood home in Sleepy Hollow, where she reconnects with her former best friend, Bram and learns about the mystery surrounding Washington Irving from student teacher, Dane.
But not everyone is happy to see Mica return as her mother was kind of the town outcast, a woman who was determined to the point of madness according to some to prove that her family was descended from the creator of the famous legend, Washington Irving.

Soon Mica is having strange dreams and is haunted by more than just the memories of her past, Add in a missing diary of Washington Irving, sightings of the Headless Horseman, and secrets from the past and what we get is an entertaining mystery with Mica determined to find answers.

As Mica investigates her mothers death and the secrets she was keeping further, things only grow more complicated and frustrating for her, Mica is confused and doesnt know who she should trust, I really felt for Mica because as a reader, I didnt know who she should trust either, Every time it seemed like she was closer to getting an answer, a new twist would pop up, I can only imagine how Mica felt alone in a town full of people she doesnt really know all that well anymore trying to work things through on her own.
Everyone seems to have secrets and motives, The author did a great job making everyone a suspect in this mystery, I love mysteries and couldnt wait to see how it would resolve itself,

But the story was more than just a mystery though, in my opinion, At the heart of the story is Mica and her relationship with her mother, It brings Mica “home” setting events into motion, Mica and her mother had a complicated relationship due to the fact that they didnt quite understand each other and were separated when Mica was young, There were a lot of unresolved issues between the two and Mica struggles with this as she learns more about her mother and her life,

In her mothers defense, I do have to say that Mica seems to have a lot of complicated relationships thoughshe needs some help with communication,

Anyway, I enjoyed my visit to Sleepy Hollow and the mystery of the story and hope to read more from Gaby Triana,

Wake the Hollow was everything that I wanted in a “Sleepy Hollow”inspired book.
I was one of the kids that enjoyed being forced to read the story of the headless horseman in elementary school around Halloween and knew I had to read this book.

You guys, Sleepy Hollow is a real place! Im not sure why it never dawned on me to look it up and see if there was actually a town named Sleepy Hollow, but there is.
Im probably the last to know, but I so want to go after reading this book, I just started watching the show Sleepy Hollow on Hulu, and the tale of Ichabod Crane and all things Irving might become my new obsession, Triana gave a lot of background surrounding Irving, a lot of things I didnt know, One of my favorite classics is Frankenstein, and I was excited to hear some history there and the connection she made, The history, creepy and enthralling, kept me interested as much as the new story surrounding Michaela Burgos,

Mica was terrified of becoming her mother, She returned to the Hollow to try and reconnect with the woman that she had left for Miami six years prior, but that wasnt the only reason, Her mothers death shook her up, especially the note she received six weeks earlier, demanding that she come back as soon as possible, The motherdaughter relationship fought against death, and I loved the connection that they had, No, it did not scream normalher mom had an obsession with creepy, handmade dolls, for crying out loudbut nothing in Micas life ever had, Mica found strength in herself that she didnt know existed and discovered a completely different person than the one that had arrived on the train in Tarrytown months ago.

I couldnt figure out who to fall in love with, I met Bram first and thought he would be the obvious choicethen Dane came into the picture, The whole time, while trying to figure out what exactly was going on in such an interesting town, my heart didnt know who to trust, Bram had the old best friend thing on his side and the do anything for Mica thing going on, but Dane was the new guy, the enigma.
Trust me, Triana will keep you guessing and gasping until the end,

Wake the Hollow kept me on my toes, It had mystery, unexplainable romance, history like Ive never read before, and a main character that I would love to see more of, Like its inspiration, it will be a story that wont be forgotten any time soon,
Wake The Hollow!!! First things first: I received an ARC of this book from Entangled through NetGalley,
The book came out augustnd, And I highly recommend it,

Book summary: Tragedy has brought Micaela Burgos back to her hometown of Sleepy Hollow, It's been six years since she chose to live with her affluent father in Miami instead of her historyobsessed eccentric mother, And now her mother is dead,

But while Sleepy Hollow was made immortal by literature, the town is real, So are its prejudices and hatred, targeting Mica's Cuban family and the secrets of their heritage that her mother obsessed over, But ghostly voices whisper in the wind, questioning whether her mothers death might not have been an accident after all, and Mica knows there's a reason she's here.

With the help of two very different guyswho pull at her heart in very different waysMicaela must uncover the hidden secret of Sleepy Hollowbefore she meets her mother's fate.

I just finished this amazing book, My faith in this story wavered a bit at the end but a few twists and turns and I'm back to loving everything about this book,

I just love the whole story, the writing and the setting of this, I love how the story developed, every little twist and turn, It kept me entertained and kept the tension til the last page, And the mystery part was also so very well done, same with the supernatural stuff, So yay, for amazing storytelling,

Loved the characters, Especially Micaela and Dane or whatever his real name is, I also really loved Betty Ann and how she took Micaela in and took care of her, And I'm glad she turned out to be the one person she could really trust, I was worried there a bit, I wasn't to keen with Bram, this isn't really a ship kind of thing, It's just that his personality rubs me the wrong way, Just no.

When it comes to relationships, it wasn't as important to me I just didn't want Micaela to end up with Bram, I was more intrigued about Micaela reconnecting with her mother.
Yes, she is dead, but I still feel like at the end of the story Miceala understood her mother so much more and had a much better view of her than in

the beginning of the story.
And I also cared much more about what happened to Miceale's mother, what was the deal with the journal and what was even going on, And I'm glad the story focused more on that than on the love triangle, that was obviously there but it wasn't as prominent, Thank god.

Overall, I really loved it, Duh!!!
