In The XCure, Dr, Alex Winter, a brilliant biomedical engineer, has teamed up with Dr, Xiu Ling, a beautiful Chinese scientist, and together theyve discovered a revolutionary cure for cancer, Although quite a technical topic, the author did a great job of explaining it in terms regular human beings, with no medical background, can understand as well.
Alex and his team have to work in secret, to prevent their cure from being discovered by Tando Pharmaceuticals, a corporate giant, and the worlds largest and richest drug producer.
Tando Pharmaceuticals are ruthless, and would stop at nothing to dominate the world drug market,
When it turns out the treatment is flawed as patients start dying after four months, Tando Pharmaceuticals enlist their Mercenary Soldiers of Medicine, putting the lives of Alex and his team in severe danger.
While the idea of a pharmaceutical company employing hit men might seem farfetched, it actually works under the circumstances set out in this book, and its not all that unbelievable once you start diving into the story.
This is a fastpaced, suspenseful thriller with just the right balance between story and characterization.
The XCure started good though at times was above my head with the technology, However I read on. Rough language was scattered throughout the book, I read half the book but it got harder and harder to hold my interest, The main character loses my interest, Dr. Alex Winter, a brilliant biomedical engineer, teams with Dr, Xiu Ling, a beautiful Chinese scientist, to discover a revolutionary cure for cancer, But Tando Pharmaceuticals, the world's largest and richest drug producer, also has an interest in the cure, and when they discover that the treatment is flawed as recipients begin to die after four months, causing a media frenzy and a drop in Tando's stock, they call upon their 'Mercenary Soldiers of Medicine' to maintain global domination.
The X Cure instantly drags readers into a dark and dangerous situation, Ski masks and assault rifles, Kidnapping and men shooting in Chinese, . . it's something that will have readers sitting on the edge of their seats wondering why and what's next.
This is one medical thriller that will continue to lure and intrigue readers for a long time to come.
Powerfully written and intriguing imagine a science that destroys cancer cells by using the right amount of energy, Pharmaceuticals, drug company conspiracies, cancer treatment and traveling to China will keep readers turning the pages fast.
Danger, threats, and a revolutionary cure for cancer can all be found within this suspenseful novel.
Bruce Forciea is a talented writer who knows how to engage his readers from the beginning to end.
The characters are believable and the plot feels real, . . The X Cure is a masterpiece that readers don't want to miss, Overall, I highly recommend this medical thriller to readers everywhere,

Having cancer myself, I chose to try for this book thinking it could be interesting, So I am not the typical audience for this story,
The book starts with an action scene, which was well done, but then it turns into more of the depiction of the life of a scientist with the presentations, the labs, the research, etc.
This went on for at least a third of the book, To be honest, I thought about giving up however, the hope it might change and that I might have answers for that action packed intro made me continue.
Now, I am glad I did, I won't say that it's a book I adored but once the technicalities were over the rest read much better.
I liked how things came together in the end, The
few twists were well done and well thought, They made reading the book worthwhile,
My only pet peeve is with Alex's actions after things go wrong, Some choices he made, while not condoning his action I could understand, some others not so much.
I won't tell what irked me because it would be a small spoiler, but it made me question the love Alex had for Xiu that the author keeps telling us and reminding us during the story.
I just had problems feeling it most of the time, And what Alex did, in my opinion, contradicts all these love words, It's not a huge thing and I am sure it won't bother most readers since it's not a love story after all.
So if you like reading things about cure discoveries, and all that could go wrong, this might be for you.
Since I spent so many years in the medical field, I'm usually always interested when I run into a medical thriller.
This was a new author to me, so I was doubly excited,
The first chapter is a whizbang catch your attention kind of story writing, What followed was a little less engaging, The action I expected to follow didn't happen, . . at least not for most of the book,
Basically it boiled down to a scientist partnering up with a Chinese scientist to discover the cure for cancer.
Not surprisingly, there is huge pharmaceutical company with an interest in that cure, as well, When they find that the cure doesn't do exactly what they want it to do, the company races to maintain global domination.
. . no matter who has to die,
There were a few small twists, a couple of surprises, which made the reading worthwhile, but this is not a book that has never been done before.
I did like that the medical terminology was explained in terms that laypeople could understand, The characters were fully defined,
My thanks to the author / Word Slinger who provided an ARC in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
First free read since starting grad school and it did not disappoint, I learned a lot about cancer research that I wasn't expecting despite this being fiction, Quite a fun read! sitelink post a comment,
