Acquire Another Dawn Picturized By Sandra Brown Contained In Version
Spoiler Alert
While I loved the story of this book, I was however completely upset with she killed off the hero and main charactor of 'Sunset Embrace.
' I have not read a Sandra Brown book since reading this one, This review was brought to you by Fictional Equivalent of a Car Crash and I Can't Look Away!
Okay, big time yuck and DNF.
As bad as some of the reviewers say but for all new reasons,
Epic, epics style slutshaming and hypocrisy, I doubt if the Victorians and oletime cowboys and schoolmarms were as bad as Sandra Brown's characters,
I never even got to Nakseds concerns over the hero and the heroines mother, I had other issues to worry about,

noooooooooo
Bookin the series and the hero of bookis killed off!
What in the WORLD just happened
My rose coloured are blown to smithereens.
I LOVE this author's work and this AUDIObook is testament to her prolificacy, BUT this book is a strict nono for my dear soft romantic heart because this IS categorized in Amazon as Romance gt Historical and Romance gt Contemporary.
That's what I was expecting, That and an update on the MCs of the first book,
And it WAS wonderful to see the beautiful love and passion between Ross and Lydia Hxh of bookstill going strong utterly captivating, It warmed my heart and fed my need for affirmation that all the horrors they'd endured before settling into a solid relationship was worth it, And that it lasted for decades,
Then he dies,
At the end of the book,
JUST like that,
Of course, I had to finish it against my better judgement, . . because, OCD and a desperate hope that someone was dreaming that scene and he didn't REALLY die, Much like that scene in the's soapie Dallas, where Bobby Ewing is alive after being dead for a year, because his wife had only dreamed that he'd died.
For once I didn't scoff at that awful soapie trope: I'm like: plse be alive, pls be dreaming, pls be like a soapie, pls rise from the dead.
. . ANYTHING but not dead and gone and no longer loving lydia, . .
And that's only the SECONDARY romance in this book,
The main Hxh
, . . sigh
I should've stopped waaayyyy before the end, but didn't because:
A I love the way she writes
B I loved the narration
C I loved to hear how gorgeous a man this hero is.
. . Ad nauseam yes, I contradict myself but it's Jake Langston you'd only know if you read it, . . there's not a single unknotted knicker in all of Fort Worth and beyond,
D I wanted to know just WHERE these two were going, because they're pretty much doomed from day one:
The OW is her mother
He adores the ow
He has loved the OW from before the h was even born
He STILL loves the OW
The Hxh fight like idiots most unpleasant no thrill to watch
The attraction is intense but that's all they have on their side
They're not soulmates at ALL: its about duty amp the time is right for him to settle down now
The h is a brat
The H is cruel
too many other cliches which I somehow couldn't tear myself away from.
. .
So now I make up scenarios in my head about ard book,
and no matter how each one starts, none end well, because in my Romantica the MCs only have ONE soulmate and Lydia's has her chance, Jake's had his and the h is too obsessed with the H who doesn't love her the way she should be.
,because I LOVED THE PROTECTIVE JEALOUS ALPHA HERO but it was so slow at times, . . Rate:stars
Betrayal had ruined Banner Coleman's wedding day and on her wedding night she was a jilted bride, Now old seeds of greed and desire are harvesting a scandal and Banner's affair with an old family friend could shatter a friendship and a family,
The Texas countryside was wide and wild, the barn was warm and musty, and the passion between Banner Coleman and her parents' best friend, Jake Langston, was going to be the start of trouble.
Betrayal had ruined Banner's wedding day, and now on her wedding night she was a jilted bride, Jake was the toughest cowhand in Texas, yet Banner had broken down his resistance, setting loose emotions neither of them expected, Now Jake and Banner were caught up in a scandal that could tear apart a friendship
and a family, But theirs wasn't the only sin in this rough town outside of lusty Fort Worth, Greed and desire stretched back to a wagon train journey twenty years before, and this cattle land would explode once more with a man's hunger and a woman's enduring love.
I don't even know if I enjoyed this book, I don't know how to put this but this book had me feelin' hot then cold, cold then hot, and hot and cold, No doubt it had me completely captivated the entire time, but I couldn't come to terms with the tragic ending, When I say it's tragic, I don't mean unhappy because the book does have a traditional 'happily ever after' but with Ross's death it just feels like the perfect picture is incomplete.
I found it difficult to understand why Sandra Brown would feel the need to write such a tragic death for him when he and Lydia worked so hard for their happiness.
If I had read Sunset Embrace before this one I wouldn't be sitting here writing a review for a onestar book, No, I would be writing a review for a one of twostar book, The only thing that made it all bearable for me was because I hadn't read Ross's story, I know Lydia and him had twenty years of happiness, but it's never enough is it
I loved the Texan flavour to this book, I'm not a particular fan of Western Romance but this book does it so well, It's hard to explain it exactly but the setting truly enhances the story, As for the characters, I adored Banner and Jake, I know it was initially hard for me to accept that Jake was twice Banner's age and in love with her mother, but gradually age lost its importance and I came to enjoy their romance without feeling any discomfort.
Banner and Jake's romance is one of those intensely and passionately stormy ones, It was a constant cycle of love, hurt, passion, yearning and more hurt, It was hard not to find myself drawn into the web of emotions and there were so many more facets to this story than just Banner and Jake's relationship.
I think Sandra Brown reached much deeper than the stereotypical historical romance with this one, And this is the first time I've ever givento a heartbreaker,
He nodded. "Well, good night," Please, Banner, don't look at me like that, I want to hold you, but I can't,
"Good night. " Jake, why are you punishing me for a sin that belonged to both of us Don't hate me for it,
"Lock up good now, hear" I remember how sweet you were, Banner, and I want you again, But I can't, I can't, . .
"I will. Good night. " You were so sweet to me that night, so tender and caring, Why are you being so mean to me now
"You're huge," she whispered,
"Who are you comparing me to" he asked,
What I Learned From This Book:

Appendicitis Not a problem
amp
Never trust a cranky prostitute
Valuable lessons, to be sure.
Heroinenya, Banner Coleman is very very annoying me dari awal hingga akhir novel, Entah kenapa Ross dan Lidya Coleman menamakan anaknya ini dgn nama antimainstream gini utk pria aja gak umum apalagi utk anak gadis, sangat aneh, Banner spanduk. Banner ini gadis impulsif yg gak sabaran utk menikah, Perlu digarisbawahi disini, Banner bukan mencintai calon suaminya, Grady Sheldon, tapi dia sudah gak sabar utk mencobai apa yg bisa didapatkan dari menikah dlm buku ini tentu saja, seks spt orangtuanya.
Jadi saat pernikahannya dikacaukan bhw mempelainya menghamili gadis jalang, Banner langsung depresi dan mencari pelampiasan utk berhubungan seks, Kebetulan mangsa terdekat adalah Jake Langston, teman baik ayahnya, yg usianya dua kali lipat dari usia Banner,
Jake dulu pernah mencintai Lidya yg skrg istri Ross dan ini jadi duri dalam daging di pikiran Banner, Saya tahu gadis remajathn masih labil dan suka berubahubah, tapi bukan berarti boleh dong bersikap murahan kpd pria yg konon katanya dicintainya saya shock waktu Banner menawarkan dirinya pd Jake dgn merendahkan dirinya, menyuruh Jake menganggap Banner sbg ibunya Lidya.
OMFG.
. Grady Sheldon aja menyesali gak jadi nikah dgn Banner krn kehilangan mahar gede ini, Dan saya juga kesal krn novel ini terlalu panjang utk menceritakan romansa yg mentah model gini, .
