ago Michel made a deal with the devil and now, for longer than he cares to think about, he's only just managed to stay one step ahead of the death and destruction cursed to follow him for eternity.
Now his wanderings have brought him to the strange city of La Port and a girl who knows a thing or two about the supernatural.
Paige is determined to rid Michel of his curse and free him from Satan's grasp, When Satan discovers her involvement in his affairs, Michel must tread the depths of hell itself to save her and maybe save himself as well.
I try to avoid cliches like "pageturner," and "I couldn't put it down," but I can't think of a better way to describe it.
I don't rate booksunless they changed my perspective, made me question everything, or if I devoured it.
"Road to Redemption" was devoured! Road to Redemption is book one in the Saints amp Sinners series and tells the tale of Michel, who made a deal with the devil, and Paige, who's determined to free him.
This story starts with a strong hook and reels you in until you're completely immersed in Michel and Paige's world.
I found myself loving the fact that both characters had flaws, which endeared them to me, I was fully invested in their dark journey's as they fought the evil forces of hell to try and save each other.
A thoroughly intriguing read that reveals the price to pay as two imperfect souls travel the Road to Redemption.
It was a fun adventure, engaging, and filled with mysterious characters thst are like best kept secrets, The ending was unexpected but, not unwelcome and I'm excited to read more, You know how most of my reviews, Im going on and on about hooks How I seem to have this thing for the most startling starts, and how I want to be drawn into a story Well, my friends, I just read a book with a hook so thrilling that it lasts through the chapter.
Hooks are necessary because they get you in, and it could be a sentence or a couple of paragraphs, but something has to drive you to want to read the book.
Crystal L. Kirkhams “Road to Redemption” not only lives up to that hook, but it delivers on the promise throughout the book.
What was the story about
Did you ever want to think of heaven and hell in other ways Have you ever been a superstitious person If so you would love this book.
Im a superstitious person, and I often think that this is what drives my creativity, but to have what I feel in my thoughts put on pages is impressive.
Its like the book version of “Killing me softly” because Crystal was telling my whole life in her words by putting on paper what I feel sometimes.
Heres the nonspoiler, nonscary version of this book, "Road to Redemption" is about a pair of people who meet in a coffee shop and realize they have a lot more in common than meetstheeye.
They both struggle with something, and after a very long journey through their issues physically and spiritually they come to terms with what they should do.
No, Im not giving you more than that, because I refuse to spoil this book for you.
I want to make sure you understand the cut and dry thing that is most important, and then get lost in the scenery and sensations the book invokes.
Opinion
Did you like the book
Yes, Holy cow did I love this book, and it I think loved me back, I read "Road to Redemption" in abouthours, and it would have been sooner had not my Kindle died on me.
I couldnt put the book down, because I kept going on and on with it, I even had a mini argument with myself when my Kindle died about the emotions the book was giving me.
What was your favorite part of the book
My very favorite part of this book is a sequence that involves Michel and a side character named Lenore.
Nope, Im still not telling you anything specific, but when you get there, you will know it, Yes, its graphic with some of the details and has intense imagery attached to this sequence, but its so worth it.
Do you have a least favorite part of the book
Okay, this is me nitpicking.
I nitpick so rarely, but I think it might come up to those of you readers who are sticklers on some things.
I am not such a stickler, so this did not even become a speed bump for me, but it might for you so fair warning.
There are some occasions in the book that words are missing or the wrong words, or even misspelled.
Its not huge its not like its every word, its just occasionally, However, Crystal worked her fingers to a bone writing this and I can feel her spirit in everything in this book.
So if you are a big stickler on some of that, eh, maybe dont read it, However, youd be missing out on a fantastic story and just cheating yourself,
If you could change something, what would it be
Uh yeah, wheres the sequel Crystal I need to know what happens duh.
Thats all Id change really, and I loved every moment of this book,
In all seriousness, the only other thing Id change is to ask for more, The chapters are slightly small in some cases, but the story is impacting,
Recommendations
Would you recommend this to another person
Action adventure, paranormal, spiritually interested book.
Its also just as much a story on attraction so if you are like I am and you love those tensionfilled romances that are all about the magnetic pull of people this is your book.
I am happy to report this book will generate all the feelings you can ever have in some form or another, from despair to rejoicing.
I am giving Crystal Kirkhams “Road to Redemption” a bit/, No its not a perfect book, and yeah there are slight issues with the actual written words, but my friends this was an amazing journey to read.
GO GET A COPY! GO NOW! I got hooked immediately, I finished more than half of it in one sitting, It was so easy to lose yourself in,
I love how well thought out the story was, So creative and imaginative!
One thing that I have to say that I've not found in many books is that I loved every single character.
I loved the bag guys, the good guys, the side characters, The character development was so great, Each character felt unique and real,
Michel's struggles were so human, The inner turmoil he was fighting with, himself really, I could definitely see so much of myself in him.
Paige was so real and I felt like I could almost reach out and touch her,
I wasn't expecting to love Lenore when I first came across her, but she won me over so quickly and I wanted to know everything about her.
And Crystal delivered on that so perfectly, We did find out more about her, but just enough to keep us always wanting more,
I got sucked into this book very quickly and I am so so glad I picked it up.
A fun read, for sure, My favorite thing about the novel is that every time the characters doubted themselves, it would have been the same doubts and thoughts I would have had in the same situation.
It was so easy to relate to these characters and to put yourself in their shoes, It felt like you were fighting their battles with them because they were relateable, WORDS FROM THE AUTHOR
Thanks for your interest in ROAD TO REDEMPTION, This was the first book I ever published and a part of my SINNERS amp SAINTS series,
This is a book that I have always been fond of and the first time I ever wrote anything with a hint of romance.
Though it is a driving subplot, it is not a romance, While much of the supernatural of this story is based upon tenets of Christianity, I stay far away from anything that resembles preachiness because that is not something I enjoy reading or writing.
These characters are dear to me and the series revolves more around the city and a few key players than anything else.
I will admit that, this being my first book published, it could have used a better edit, but from all reader accounts this doesn't detract from the incredibly fastpaced story that is being told.
You will fall in love with these characters, or that is my hope,
This series gets darker with each novel and can be read in any direction since each book is written to be read as a standalone novel.
Thank you for your time and if you liked this book, please check out the second book in the series, DEPTHS OF DARKNESS.
