of the wood by A, K. R. Scott is the story of Pax, A side character from the novel Inharmonic, I think this short story could be a stand alone, but you will enjoy it more if you read Inharmonic first, as it takes place roughly about Midway through the novel.
All together this novella sheds some light on an interesting character, who is obviously more than capable of holding his own as a protagonist.
I don't like to leave spoilers so I will just say that this was a good book about a young man who during a homecoming finds out that things are not as well as they should be.
I think that it was a decent read and that it is well worth picking up, It was a lot of fun to get into Pax's head for a change, Hopefully, we'll hear more from the Raynor family in the future, : A nice little companion story, a quick read, It just tells us what Pax did during the candlefire celebration and why he acts the way he does when he returns to Cantio.
Not quite as good as the main stories and not essential but a good read anyway
